Hi,
IMO
SUPER hardware, very sexy and well made.

Software, OMG, so slow and hangs, come no where close to the latest Apple, BB or Android platform.

Its so bad that I've Sold it at 1/2 my original purchase price within 1 week of ownership.

Nokia's got to wake up and really do something about it software.

AnonD-4053, 20 Mar 2011Someone in this forum asked my logic behind claiming this d... moreWow! So you have brains. Just try to analyze what you are comparing. N8 which is an entertainment phone, and E7 which is a smart/office/business phone. N8 and E7 have different target consumers.N8 is clearly out there to battle it out against "Touch Toys" in the market, while E7 is for professionals. They both have the same OS but is meant for different functions. Again, N8 is for entertainment (Multimedia), while E7 is for work. Got it? If you're a businessman, would you give a damn if your phone's got only fixed focus camera? shouldn't you be more concerned with your business rather than wasting time taking pictures? so don't even compare the two because you would sound or look like a fool. Just saying.

I find it funny how people complain about the price when this phone is built so well it makes others look like cheap chinese immitations, common guys don't be tight arses!
i have used this phone for the last 4 weeks and can say it has never crashed or lagged, whatever i use it for it does without a problem, the price its being sold for is cheap enough for such a rich featured and by FAR best Nokia phone ever made, i take my hat off to you NOKIA, you finally created something i truely enjoy using.

What nokia should do is cu the price of their top phones in half if they want to survive. The Samsung S8500 Wave is ripping them apart. 250euros with more functions and not to mention the battery life champion.

Their problem is, that they are LATE! Other makers has 2,3 or even more smart phones announced this year and Nokia NOTHING. By the way I would like to see Android Nokia devices, but this will NOT happen, and it is sad! :(

Somone Said, 27 Mar 2011Somone Said: I think you gave a fair review, but sadly, mi... moreAndroid now can do everything that Symbian can, and new Androids even have USB on the GO. The big real problem with Symbian is the very many crashes, it is not just a very ugly and not userfriendly os but also still very unstable. Only 360x640 on a big 4 inch screen is simply stupid and not have full support for flash 10.2 is very bad for a "smartphone" in 2011.
Do not compare with IPhone because it is only a "fashion-wear" to show how much "better" the user is, pretends to be, than the rest of us.
Nokia abandon Symbian just because it simply is not good enough, and can not even be made good enough!

                        Somone Said:
I think you gave a fair review, but sadly, missed the strength of Symbian, and by comparing it with Windows phone 7, ,actually made me wonder if you you really are as aware.

True, the touch, and overall user experience may be a bit "uncool", as compared to the iPhone (and all its clones, such as Android, and the recent Windows Phone 7). But under the layer of interface is the real OS. And thats where the real, measurable, definable difference lyes.
The ability to install apps from anywhere (A web page, an installable file, besides the Ovi Store)
The ability to view and manage files through a file manager (not there in Iphone), and even attach SD cards and a pen drive ((again not there in any other device), and view their content in the file manager, does bring it a whole lot closer to a computer, than does any other platform, where all you do is swipe, pinch to zoom!!
The ability to place multiple wall papers on different home screens (not possible on either Iphone, Android, and definitely not on Windows!)
The ability to download files from within the browser to a location on the phone/SD card/Pen drive. iPhone doesnt even let you download from a browser.
And finally, the ability to connect the phone to a TV, where in you get the entire phone's interface on the TV screen, through a regular AV cable or HDMI. Instead of a USD 50 proprietory cable to get the iphone to even look at a TV!

So Id say on the contrary, where Symbian devices are open, and let you do a whole lot, on others such as iPhone you need to do most of the things through round about methods.
                        here's a classic example:
Imagine you took a picture from your Canon, and wanted to mail it to say your friend. True, you'd put the camera's SD card into your lap top, and attach the pic to a mail, and send it. But hang on, if most smart phones are "closer to a computer", then shouldnt you be able to do it using them?? Instead of taking the pain of turning on a computer just for this one thing.

This would let you do it. But the iPhone doesnt even have a reader.

So, I'd say th next time you review a device, please do so more comprehensively, instead through the prejudiced anti Symbian POV.
Every platform has its strengths. The iPhone has its (and we all know that). And so does Symbian. If there is one thing I love about it, it is its openness. And you mentoned the apps, just check out the number of reviews on any particular app on OVI store and you'd realise the number of downloads they have. I have yet to find an app I use on my iphone that isnt there. Conversely, there are quite a few on SYmbian that are not there for either iPhone or Android: Micosoft office Communicator is one example

can someone please tell me how the pictures come out in low light or pictures of moving objects.
I'm trying to find photo samples of that but no luck. I can't decide between this and N8.

Its a week since using E7. Zero hanging, UI is just good, battery life is impressive (6 hours of talk time with e mail synch at every 10 min) with fine tuning on backend processes. I think Symbian is having all required features to make your life easy. this phone is very quick in touch response, supports a lot of apps and morover it's having all features of a true business phones. its for men and not for boys.

I have Purchased E7, Major Issue which i think is his speaker, if your phone on table and screen side on the top then ring sound is low as speaker on back side, similarly if you want to talk thru Loudspeaker or you will do video call then you will face the problem as speaker at the back side and Push to mail feature is very poor as compare to Blackbarry, rest camera is ok, Key Pad feature is good
