I think the main reason there is no memory card slot is that this is above all an enterprise phone. Because the main storage can be fully crypted and there are loads of other security features, E7 is one of the few phones you can actually use confidential info with.

but people are talking about you that you fixed focus is bad. how to they know if u haven't launched yet.
your comparision as same as gf because world always talk about gf that she is bad lady.. but she is the best for user ;)

EDoF cant take macro shots. Anything closer than 50cm and its blurry as hell. And autofocus is much better for shooting videos.
I'd take autofocus over edof anyday. Edof is really inferior

the typical user of this fone will be ppl with eyeglass lenses like bottoms of coca cola bottles.
4 inches for 640x360 resolution? When 3.5 inches is enough for the N900s 800x480 resolution? Nice for the half blind and cataract patients, for the average person its useless. cant browse d web on 640x360, and 2.9 inch is enough for that resolution (nokia 5530)

And since E7 is a lot more expensive than the N8, it is a slap to the face since it has an under average camera despite having 8mp.
And come on... E7 without Carl Zeiss lens? Boo!!!

Some of the sample pictures I've seen with fixed focused cameras appear to be in focus. Not only that, both the foreground and background are in focus where as auto focus cameras generally can only focus on either the foreground or background image, but not both.

I think this phone is very good looking and i like it, EXCEPT for the fixed focus camera which i don't understand why =(

y r these nokia people not all creating phone models worth the money...it really sukc in its looks....for so much of money 500$ and above these phones are looking so ugly... same symbian boring OS in all models... no difference in the features.. an 150$ apps is more or less equal to a mobile of 500$...i seriosuly hate its looks....alll models 75% resemble same..no diference at alll

This phone does need 1ghz or higher or 565mb or higher. Whether or not its running symbian, ios, android or some other crap feature phone OS.
Just like w7/vista/xp, linux and osx would need faster processors and more ram while all of those os's could run perfectly fine on a 500mhz p4 processor.
Whether or not mobile applications actually need this much power is not really the concern however; improved processing and graphics performance with little to no additional increase in energy needs will allow future phones to actually be much more efficient in terms of power. This is because ultimately, power efficiency relies in a big part on the ability of the hardware in the phone to complete a task quickly and return to an idle state where it consumes very little power.

Yes for sure...Nokia has many phones with this kind of fixed focus camera...instead they have given less MP with focusing ability. I would not like a blurred picture with size of 8MP.

This is for the people who dont understand the specifications of mobiles. The SYMBIAN mobiles are great multitasking systems, they need really less RAM and Processing power. So a 680 MHz CPU for SYMBIAN is enough to run that mobile like hell. Some says that's not enough for there mobiles. Sometimes (or i say most times), people leaves the background with lots of applications running, in which the WEB BROWSERS are most RAM Hungry programs. This leads to shortage of RAM for other application you will open. So please exit the applications that are not in use.
Any if SYMBIAN mobiles are powered by 1GHz or more CPU, that will be of no use. For example a 6 Core Processor of PC is not useful until and unless you use it for 3D Designing softwares, Video Decoding, etc. If you just want to play hardcore games on your PC then only 4 Cores out of 6 Cores will be used. 2 Cores will be untouched by the system, or I can say they are waste.
I wish everyone will understand.

NOKIA Is Big Daddy Of Mobiles Industry. This handset is really huge. Enough for creating millions of profit for NOKIA. Great all the way.

in my opinion, this E7 will be definetly more powerful than the N8 because of the following:
1)- RAM in bigger. ( Symbian^3 will be much smoother than the N8 )
2)- No memory card slot. ( just yesterday i was wondering found that, when u save ur messages to memory card, and try to open any new message, it lags & take time to open, while if it is stored in the phone memory, it will open so fast. ( jst try it ans see it by your self ). so the idea of not including the Memory Slot is great.
3)- The fixed focus in the E7 is really great. did u check the camera review in youtube & how sharp and clear images can be taken with E7.
Just 2 main faults in E7 is :
1)- the processor should be 1 GHz
2)- Rom 512MB Ram 2 GB
i don't know why nokia is ignoring to up-grade the above ???!!!!!!

Why would Nokia go back to a 680 Mhz over a 1GHz Processor for a model that has the capability to change its fortunes...!!! I doubt if a 680 Mhz processor would be able to handle the specs with ease...
