Got my e70. Used for few hours. Then the joystick stopped working. Only works in two directions, downd and left. Stopped wotking up and right. But worse - pressing joystick and the cursor doesn't stop. It runs in circles. Of course I don't hold my finger on joytick. Cursor runs in circles by itself. No way to stop till I press Exit. Buggy phone.

Thank you JF, I have just placed my first call in 24 hours. One would think something as important as that would be very prominent on the first page of the handbook.

Now to get on the internet via wireless:

It told me to set up wireless access, which I did. but it does not ask me for the password. and when I go back and click on the little browser thingy to get on the web, all it uses t-zones to try and get to the web.
How do i direct it to use my wireless signal. It already sees my signal.

thanks 4 the link. My phone keeps telling me it is offline(whatever that means) how do i get it online. i just want to receive calls for gods sake.
Now i am looking at my old 3 year old phone with nostalgia. gotta be a rocket scientist to make a cell phone call?
there is no reference in the manual for online or offline mode. what the heck does that mean. I just want to make phone calls.I have voicemail sitting on my phone for the past 4 hours and i can't access it.

It appears that this phone is rightly generating some real interest. I posted my first comments back on Oct 28th, right after I purchased the phone. So I thought that I'd post some follow up comments.

I've now owned the phone for about 2 1/2 weeks and I got to say that I'm impressed with its performance overall.

It's well-built: My E70 has taken two really bad drops in the past two weeks. Despite looking a little plastic-y and cheap on the outside, the phone is still working well and doesn't show a scratch! Nonetheless, it is now "protected" by a crystal case and 3-party leather holder that I found in at a local mobile retailer. The form factor makes it easy to hold, but difficult to grip sometimes. It's shapped similar to a bar of soap and it has very smooth, glossy silver sides. If you've got butter-fingers, beware. Invest in a protector, silicon or crystal case.

Relatively Stable: I was very apprehensive initially about switching to Symbian. So far, however, the software has been stable and well designed. Just remember to update the software with Nokia Updater or a trip to the Nokia support centre since the phone seems to perform more smoothly. (The real proof of this will be when I try to run Blackberry on the device. See below.) The only problem that I routinely encounter is the cable sync'ing. Sometimes, when I plug it into the USB, the phone asks me what data connection I want. But after I select PC Suite, it simply does nothing. PC Suite doesn't recognize the device and the cable connection symbol on the E70's screen doesn't turn on. Generally, a reboot of the computer solves the issue but I suspect it has to do with Nokia's cable port connect on the phone. It's difficult to connect properly.

Poor Support: Whether this phone has been released in S'pore is unclear. I bought it from an official channel in S'pore, but when I went to the Nokia center to find some accessories, they told me that the phone hadn't been released yet and may not be in S'pore. That's nice! If you happen to mess up your phone, I'm not sure what Nokia would do for you. Also, the Blackberry Connect as promised by Nokia is now available online at its own business software site but I'm not sure if local carriers are supporting it. I just noticed that on SingTel's BB Connect page, the Nokia E61 is no longer listed as a compatible device. Hmm...

This weekend, I will be installing BB Connect and using it for the first time. I'll write another update afterwards. While this is a wonderful phone, I absolutely need BB Connect for my office requirements. And I think a lot of people are buying these phones (Nokia E61, E70, SE 990i, etc) to avoid having a Blackberry strapped to the belt. If it doesn't work reliably or if Nokia backs out of its commitment to support the BB Connectivity, a lot of people are going to be disappointed. And I'll have to switch to a BB device (sigh!).

                      Hi
It’s amazing but there are two problems:

                      1st, no repeat alarm

                      2nd, no automatic key guard

def, e70. however depends what features captivate you the most. every handset has its pros and cons, depends how much weightage u give to what factor.

                            VV,

dunno about youtube, however i open any website which has flash in it. i dont think this phone is equipped to display websites with flash. however it has FlashLite, but that it seems is for applications designed in flash, and not for flash applicatons embedded in websites.

headphones which came with the phone in the sales pack were pretty standard/basic - pop port type.

re: volume, the phone has great volume when it comes to handset. however the speaker volume is ok, i wouldnt say bad as its better than my previous 6610i. however nothing in comparison to the dual speaker type you get in 6270 or 6623 etc.

I am wondering between SE P990 and Nokia E70. Any suggestions?
Is VoIP over WLAN on Nokia E70 actually working.
                                      Thanx for your advices

I have just read your post of 2006-10-26 which was a response to mine. Thanks for the URL you gave on E70 editing (copy/cut/paste) features. Very useful reference.
