Does anyone knows how to make the phone gives us an option on how to connect to internet?? Example: When I'm in a WI-FI area and I want to go on the internet, it kept connecting me to MAXIS 3G WAP (my telco provider), instead of giving me option whether to connect via Wi-Fi.

Hi kahyeec :
Pre firware update : Simplified Chinese & English
Post firware update : Simplified Chinese & English
No change what so ever. Seems Nokia Updater "knows" which type of E70 you are having. I did backup & restore my phone settings via Nokia Suite. Maybe that does the trick ... not sure. Awaiting next release of E70 firmware ...

I spent 3 months with the E70 and finally dumped it last week for the Blackberry Pearl. I'm glad I did.
My problems with the E70 were as follows:
1) I'm T-mobile US, and I could never get push email working. I tried their Exchange software, SEVEN (beta) and Roadsync. None of them would work for more than 24 hours.
2) The IMAP email was unreliable. Many times people would say to me, "didn't you get the email?". I would turn the phone off and back on, and the email from hours ago would come through.
3) Everytime I would lose a signal (which is a lot because the phone reception sucks) my POP email would reset from auto-connect to manual. When I would get the signal back, I would have to change the settings back to auto.
4) Phone reception was terrible. I would be in a room with ten other people, and I was the only one not getting reception. I was constantly missing calls.
5) SMS would not come through and I would have to turn the phone off and on again to receive it.
6) The browser (although it is the coolest I've seen on a mobile phone) was very slow and I would get memory errors and it would shut.
I upgraded to the new firmware last week, hoping that it would solve my problems, but it didn't really seem to solve any of the above issues.
I simply could not go any longer without reliable phone reception, emails and SMS.
I was a former Treo user, and chose the E70 because - on paper - it is the perfect phone. I loved the hardware (with the exception of the poor reception), but the software is just too buggy. Symbian and Nokia really need to work this out.
I've been on the Blackberry pearl now for a week and I absolutely love it. Of course, I'm giving up a true Qwerty keyboard, WiFi, a better camera and video capabilities, etc., but I get great reception, reliable push email with no third-party client or endless hours of set-up and de-bugging. It's a beautiful little phone that is RELIABLE.
It's a pity, because I really loved the E70 and wanted it to work (not to mention that I wasted $500+).
Anybody want to buy my E70 with lots of accessories cheap?

QUESTION:
How do you navigate through the phone menu?
I guess scrolling up/down is done with a joystick and selecting the sub-menu by pressing the joystick.
What about going back one menu at a time?
I hope, not by turning joystick to left. I hope the upper right botton is for that purpouse.

This is to kninvest.
You responded to Bab about the compatibility of the E70 on US networks. You provided great feedback! Thank you! My only other question for you is what about the 3G network? I noticed other GSM networks around the world are using the 2100mhz standard, but Cingular is using the 850/1900 band for that??? Will the 3G portion of the phone, provided it comes from one of the Nokia stores in chicago or NY, work as well? You seem to have good knowledge about these things. Thanks for the help!

scoop: Sounds like you were unlucky enough to be one of the people who tried to upgrade when the software first came out. Nokia have admitted that there was a problem with the software that caused exactly the problem you describe. According to Nokia this is now fixed so shouldn't happen anymore, although I'd say if you can't live without your E70 then wait a while before upgrading.
As for the upgrade not being worth it I'd have to disagree. For me the much quicker switching between landscape and portrait mode alone has made the it worthwhile.
If you want more info on all this there's a very long discussion about it here:

Hello good people, i'm interested in buying Nokia E70 within the next two weeks and i like to find out whether NOKIA also released the black colour alongside the silver into the market so that there will be room for one to make a choice between the two colours. LONG LIVE NOKIA the maker of quality phones.

I'm a new Nokia E70 user. Got this phone in Malaysia and would like to upgrade the firmware using the Nokia Software Update.
Did any E70 user in Malaysia attempt this upgrade? And, after the upgrade, can we still use the Chinese inputs for SMS.
Thank you in advance.

I can't complain about this phone. It's complex enough to keep me learning yet faithful to it's features. The camera is ok and the voice quality is on par with the price. What dazzels me is the wifi man, oh do I love to wifi in school. Often enuoght there is new software to be downloaded and used for s60 3rd editions. The last piece of software I installed was a internet playlist program, I can listen to shoucast programming over the air or by wifi.. this phone is anything you want it to be.
