I tested the E70 yesterday and I would like to ask a couple of questions:

Can you please try loading the www.cnn.com -website. I noticed yesterday in a shop that some sites loaded with wi-fi but others did not, because they got the "memory full" message. The version of the software was an older one and not the newest which is (I think) 30.05.2006. (Software version: 1.0610.0507)

It would be great news if someone could open CNN with the newest software! Anyone?

Another question is about the quality of the video recording. I saw a demo on the net but I was not sure if it is 30fps or lower? Can you please check after recording a video in 352x288 mode what is the frame rate you get?
How does it look on TV? (through a laptop connected to TV?) Is this a viable option for simple family videos?

I just bought the E70 and very happy with it so far. It is worth the money.
The Pro Tour Golf game is not installed in the set I bought. Can it be downloaded?

Us dont admire this phone. I am Japan resident. My English is none, so I use translator item for English. I hope they don't care mind for my English language.

Thanks DEV. Does the headset come with a standard 1/4" jack (which lets the user use any standard headphone), or is the user pretty much stuck with proprietary Nokia headsets?

1) Contents of package are :
PC Suite CD, Mono Headset, USB Connecting cable, Battery, charger, 64 MB Mini SD card and its adapter. Manual-Quick start guide etc..

2) & 3) The Basic Sound quality of E-70 is very good, I dont 3250 or other phones, But this phone plays stereo and that too in loud speaker mode. The Headset that comes with Phone is Mono as I said above, However if you use other phones Stereo headphone you will love its sound quality.

It can play mpg4, 3gp, real video and flash files for video.

Yes, this phone can play .mpg file & others as mentioned above.

Hi, Yes I am from Mumbai only.

Browser provided by Nokia in E-70 is very good & Full HTML type, It can open HTML Pages as same as your computer, You can check your ;
Yahoo Mail, Google Mail, Rediff Mail etc... all Web Based Mails as same as you do it on PC Inernet Explorer. And these all too in Basic GPRS (Hutch charges Basic GPRS
at Rs.49/Month with 5 MB Free data & 30 MMS Free). You have option to keep off for Photos and Sound and others so as to reduce
data cost.

As for BSE Site, this site I used to open in WAP Format to get price in my previous mobile Nokia 6610, 6820, 6822 Etc..
However this WAP Based site doesnot open in this new browser of Nokia. When I called to Nokia support center they said that their WAP Browser is version 2 which doesnot support WAP Version 1 wap-sites.
By this I cannot open BSE WAP Wesite and cannot check prices of any scripts.
BSE WAP = wap.bseindia.com

On other hand I expected that since HTML browser of Nokia is Fully HTML it should open BSE's HTML Website easily and fully,
however regretfully on home page it can just show the graph and cannot open Price/Index table as well as Tickers which are JAVA Appelets. same way it doesnot load the page of each scripts fully (Price table of script) because these are again Java Appelets. By this Its confirmed that Nokia's Browser cannot run Java Appelets, thus I regret I could not have access to BSE Script prices which I could see even in previous lesser expensive phones.

I think only way is that either BSE change their Java appelets to ordinalry web page which is impossible. Or BSE change their WAP site to version 2 so that we can see their web site on this mobile phone.

The other problem is that Wap based POP3 e-mail software of Java MIDP2 version (Like Sirius Mail or Movamail are not working on this phone (which I used to enjoy all POP3 mails in earlier mobiles by just Basic GPRS).

I also called/sent mail to these companies to make their software updated for Symbian S60 Version 3 and they are now on their research to modify and update their softwares. Untill then we have to just wait.

One grouch I had against Nokia/Symbian is that they cannot play .mpg movies unless converted to lower quality .3gp. This deters em from buying Nokia/symbian based devices although E70 looks promising. In the past have used pdaphones Treo180,270,600, SE P800, O2 mini, Ipaq 6365, Nokia 7710 and Nokia 6600. Worst phone is 7710. Could not get to synchronise with outlook. sold off cheaply.

Can we check mails on Rediff,Yahoo,Gmail and some sites like BSE,NSE,etc with Wap GPRS (costing Rs.99/-p.m)vis a vis Advanced GPRS (Rs.499/-)Service Provider BPL on Nokia symbian phones.Are you from Mumbai City

A few questions for owners:

1. Can someone please list the contents of the package the phone comes in? Couldn't find it anywhere.

2. Does it come with a headset? If so, how is the quality compared to "music phones" such as the 3250?

3. How is the loudspeaker of this phone in terms of loudness and quality? Again, how does it compare to the 3250 in this aspect?

Please check Review of Gsm Arena as well as other sites, If you are looking for More of Messaging device this is best Phone if you are looking for Media application its better you go for N-91.

You can check price in Alfa in Mumbai and as for 2 GB card I think may be soon will be available freely other brands, I just got Kingston brand.

I just love this mobile set, waiting for it to come in Pakistan. Besides this, one of my office colleague just bought a E60 and its been a week since now we are searching for any freeware softwares or cracked versions but fail to find, even thought we find millions but they dont work on E60, file not supported! What is this? Kindly send me some web addresses along with what to do or wat can b the problem.

Which is a better choice N series :N70 or N91 or the E70.Since all the 3 are based on the same OS Symbian.How much does E70 costs in Mumbai.Also is the 2 GB Mini SD Card easily availble of reputed make San Disk.Kindly do mail me your opinion at maheshmakhija@rediffmail.com

Yes, E-70 has IM which is supplied by Nokia, also there are couple of other software of IM which are available on internet for this phone, However setting up IM is very difficult specially when you have to feed server details etc.. Do you know how to set up the Server Details ? If so you can help me to set up IM ?

You are right, the original Nokia software has a limited recording time even in E-70 and therefore you have to use other third party softwares, there are couple of such softwares available now on net.

As the days passes through, I can now see many third party softwares available for Symbian S60 Version-3 platform. I like most fascinating game = SKY FORCE (I just used its freeware demo version) However I can say the quality of graphics and sound can match any computer game.

I think you didnot tried newer versions of PC Suite, the latest version you can download from Nokia Site and see if you like it, However I can say I tried latest PC Suite and found its very easy/convinient.
I think E-70 is much much better than Treo-650. You know something like IP Pass Through ? Usually we used IP Pass for our handheld or palmtops BUT E-70 does have that Bridging Networking facility by which you can use broadband internet running in your PC/Laptop to use in your Mobile Phone and this doesnot require any GPRS etc..
Isnt it amazing ???

I think even after 15 days I have not been able to use all features of it. It will take some more weeks to get used to all features and fully utilize this phone.

Hi

I am looking at the E70 as an alternative to the Palmone Treo 650 but from my searches I only see the Nokia PC Suite as the desktop software. From my experience using it with my 6230 PC Suite is clunky and virtually unusable as a Desktop client for a PDa Phone. Can anyone advise whether there is an alternative to C Suite to load and sync the E70.

I am contemplating of going in for E70. All in all a really nice piece of machine.

I have query which I hope will be answered by existing E70 owners. Other models like N70 and 6270 have voice recording and call recording but I read that it is time limited to 1-3 mins. For unlimited recording you have to buy the software.

What is the situation in case of E70. Is unlimited recording possible on it?
