I've not used the 6820 or 6822 so I can't say how they compare to the E70. The backlight seems fairly bright to me and as I say so far it's done the job, of course I've not used it in every possible condition, maybe others have an opinion on this? BTW, the backlight comes on automatically depending on the outside light conditions and the amount of outside light required to trigger the backlight can be adjusted on the phone.

You Said:> "I've had no problems with that, whether the backlight is on or off."

            Are you sure?

I have the 6820 and 6822, and when I am indoors, a restaurant or club, the backlight is the same brightness as the light reflecting off the silver buttons, so the contrast is poor and it's a struggle to see the numbers. I assumed the E70 silver version must have the same problem. How can it not? I also had the 6800. That had black buttons and was easy to read.

              YOU ASKED :
Is the E70 FAST in changing from one program to another ???

              REPLY :
Yes changing from one programme to another is fast.

Further, I checked BATTERY life not so good, I charged it every 24 Hours while my usage for Voice calls not so much, and surfing by Net was done average basis to check mails.
This may be due to Phone Display is Bigger and brighter.

Once again would like say that Web Browser is exceptionally good.

I wonder Why Nokia donot supply Java Based E-Mail client like 'Movamail' or 'Sirius Mail' with this type of phones, Because we can download POP3 mails with such Javabased mails where as using just BASIC GPRS.

I hope Movamail & Sirius Mail will make their new version for this Symbian OS v.3 because their latest version softwares also not working in this OS. (This is major problem in this OS as even some of very latest MIDP2 Java softwares not able to install).

Is the Operating System on this phone the same as the one on the Nokia 6600?

My overall impressions of this phone so far are excellent. The screen is unbelieveably good although anyone with bad eyesight might struggle with it as the high resolution can make some text quite small (maybe there is an option to change this?). It's my first phone with a fold-out keyboard and I absolutely love it but someone with large fingers might have trouble with it and should probably try it out first.

As far as the numbers being difficult to read on the silver version, I've had no problems with that, whether the backlight is on or off. Personally I think the silver version looks much nicer than the black one.

On problem with installing apps, it might be because the OS is S60 3rd Edition and as far as I know it's not backwards compatible.

Nobody said Silver Colour looks cheap. You cannot see the numbers when the backlight is on; that is the problem. Black is needed for contrast.

Further to my opinion / riview as below, I forgot to mention that After pressing Power Button it takes exactly 45 Seconds to load the OS onto the Phone, is this common with Symbian OS or its due to the Phone's basic memory problem.???

Those who said Silver Colour looks cheap & phone is more of plastic, I can say that Silver finish is not that Bad and front center part is of silver Grey which makes good combination and also certain parts are made of Shiny Steel.

I had used Nokia 6820 (Folding Keyboard Type)earlier for about 1.5 Years, then came Nokia 6822 (Again Folding Keyboard same Phone Size as 6820, But better display, better camera and better battery life), I am using it for about 9 months now.

Both above Phones were satisfying my needs of communications, However they lacked in Memory and Camera quality as well as they didnot have Mp3 player.

I just now bought E-70-1 Silver Colour, about 3 days back and tried to use it, I found that Phone is slightly bigger than what I expected it to be from Photo, Its very good in features and excellent phone (Hardware side) However Software is not user friendly or can say Software is a tragedy with this Phone, May be because I never used Symbian based Phone earlier.??? However Its very surprising to see that Phone doesnot load any of Java Based application or games which I could do it much easily in earlier phones as above.

Morover the setting of Ring Tones and Message Tones etc..Other settings cannot find easy, how to make such settings.? Are such problems due to Symbain OS ??? Also the file manager doesnot able to find the files like Mp3 Tracks or other files either on Memory card or Phone Memory. Also Its XHTML Browser is not supporting some of regular WAP sites. However this same browser which is also HTML browser is excellent and I can say a good piece of work done by Nokia engineers to develop this HTML browser. Very good features some of which are not even in IE 6.00 in my PC.

MP3 player can be played in loud speaker mode and sound quality is very good.
                                        Camera quality is also Ok.

Can any one tell me why Java based applications are not installing in this Phone although its mentioned as this is MIDP2 phone having Java support. (earlier two phones I mentioned were MIDP1 & MIDP2 respectively). Is anyone from Nokia listening or any software engineer can help me ?
