i just bought the e70 phone 2 days ago and i think :
1- its a fast phone
2- features best screen resoloution
3- browsing the net is awesome
4- camera is good in both video and pics
5- very comfortable keyboard for chating on msn using wifi
6- the silver phone in reality is much better than the black phone
7- the speaker is clear and loud, the ringtones are 64 channels not 48
8- mp3 player is good using headset using
9- battery life is good, ive charged it till full and it stayed full for almost one day using it as to answer calls or capturing photos for short times
main dissadvantages:
1- no flash light for camera
2- it couldve been better if the video capture supported mp4, but the cif format appears clear and nice sound quality while watching from the phone
3- mp3 players bass is not powerfull when using headset (iam using nokia 7710 headset)
the phone is stable and perfect cuz its made for buissiness men. i had the choice to buy the n80 or e70 but i chose e70 as its comfortable for typing and surfing the internet or sending messages as the 2 mp camera is realy good and i dont find it a big deal to have an n80 with 3mp camera, a wifi phone should include a keyboard so the user can feel free in typing and surfing the internet.
CO NOT BELIEVE ANY ONE WHO SAID ANY NEGATIVE POINTS ABOUT THIS PHONE CUZ I WAS HONEST. THE PHONE IS PERFECT SO FAR

To : Sohail :
1) Yes, It allows to make Playlist. Music is played in Stereo and sound quality is very good.(I am talking about Loudspeaker mode), ofcourse Headphone quality also same good.
2) I can say quality of MP3 playing in the scale of 1 - 10, not less than 8. (My opinion).
To : Dasy :
3) Yes, the e-mail software allows you to set time to automatically download, you can keep time setting from upto your requirement.
As my comments for e-mail please see below, NOKIA always make / gives their software made for Advance GPRS, But their software doesnot work for Basic GPRS (WAP Base GPRS).
As you know advance GPRS expensive, and its not worth to conect to e-mail by Advance GPRS by which your data bill be higher. On other hand software like Movamail Or Sirius Mail works well with MIDP2 phones and they work on Basic GPRS, I used these on my Nokia 6820 and 6822, you can get POP3 mails by these softwares at very low cost. However these softwares doesnot install in Nokia E70 and now am asking the respective companies to upgrade their softwares for E70.
To All who have E70, please download free trial / demo game METEOR from Symbian Gear . Com. Very nice colours and sound quality experience.

i don't own a E70 but from nokia website, yes we can create the playlist. to view the step by step demo, go to nokia website of your country, choose E70, on the left menu, chose "Support and Software for Owners", then on the middle page there's a "Interactive Demonstration". take a look at that, nice demo.

Thanx DEV.
To DEV or any E70 owners. A few questions please.
1) Does the E70 have a built in MP3 Player that allows to create PLAYLISTS like in the Nokia N80 or Nokia N73??
2) Out of a Scale of 1-10, how good would you say, is the sound quality for plaing MP3s through its speakerphone? Is it clear, loud, stereo, etc?
Thanx alot guys!

Hi-
Can anybody give a review/opinion on the E70's email software? Specifically, for POP accounts, does it intermitantly automatically check for email? I currently have the 6820 which lacks this function and it is a pet peeve of mine. Other than that, any other comments on email?
Tx.

hi experts, just notice that on the spec it states E70 OS is "Symbian OS 9.1, S60 3rd edition", E60 and E61 OS is "Symbian OS 9.1, Series 60 UI"
is "Symbian OS 9.1, S60 3rd edition" same as "Symbian OS 9.1, Series 60 UI"?

For anybody else who doesn't have the Golf game installed on their E70 you can get it here:
http://www.nokia.co.uk/nokia/0,,87102,00.html
Also, my E70 came with a 64Mb MiniSD and Adapter. I don't know if that is the same whereever you buy it from.

Further to my comments as below, I just want to request to NOKIA people, you are providing such a good device, also softwares, why dont you provide us with the basic e-mail software like Movamail or Sirius Mail, we are paying such a high price for your Phones, Why dont you supply free such software which doesnot cost even USD 5 or 10/-. Are you listening NOKIA ???

Hey Guys,
You are worrying much about Silver colour, But I already said that Silver is not just silver only, They gave Greyish Dark Silver colour on Keypad (Both Closed and Opened Keypad) which may not be seen on Photos, on this the Numbers / characters engraved are dark coloured. Thus without illumination also you can see colours. Ofcourse after pressing light those becomes bright, But I am not sure of seeing difficulty in sunlight.
I tried phone several hours extensively and its very much stable and doesnot hang-up.
One point is that during opening PDF Files in Acrobat Reader sometime it says memory short and thus doesnot allow to zoom docment further or such actions. Anyway overall performance is very good.
I can also open Doc & excel files and amazingly the Power Point presentation also opening smoothly without taking any time, it looks very beautiful to see PPT on the Phone slide by slide.
Only and Only problem of this phone is that OS is Symbian V.3 which doesnot accept Java Application of even regular MIDP2 version and therefore the games and other Java softwares are to be made Phone Specific for which we have to wait for some more time till the software engineers and companies come out with the softwares for this model and OS.
I guess that was this the reason Nokia delayed this phone ? Because no other 3rd party applications were available to the time. However I could just install one game Meteor and the Phones colours and sound quality makes it great experience, really phone is very good performing if right
software/games are made for this phone.

I cannot understand whether this phone is available in the UK yet or not. It came out on the Vodafone website two weeks ago, I phoned in and ordered it, then 4 days later they told me that they weren't sure when it was comming out, took it off their website, and now I am in the dark with my order placed, not really knowing when I am going to get my long awaited E70!

RE Backlight: Yes, the numbers seem to be illuminated fairly evenly, also on the fold-out keyboard.
RE Languages: On my UK phone it has the following language options, Automatic, Engligh, Deutsch and Polski. At least that's all I could see, I guess phones in other countries will have different options?
RE Stability: After 1 week I've had no crashes but I am not a heavy user and have not used web or email yet.

You Said:> "The backlight seems fairly bright to me"
That's a frequent misunderstanding. When the backlight equals the outside brightness (which silver buttons reflect), the contrast is low and numbers are hard to read. So assuming backlight were even as bright as the sun, you would then not see anything outdoors! Black buttons, on the other hand, do NOT reflect outside light and contrast is guaranteed, even with fairly low-power (battery saving) backlight.
You Said:>"BTW, the backlight comes on automatically depending on the outside light conditions..."
OK, perhaps that's how they solved it. 6820/22 ALWAYS came on as soon as you pushed a button. Thanks for the info. I think I'll post photos of my 6820 and 6822 this weekend to better explain the problem.
One more question: does the backlight illuminate all buttons evenly? With the 6820/22, some buttons were bright and others were dim, so some numbers were always difficult to read!

Dev, what about the stability of the phone. one of the problems being reported for all these new symbian devices are that the hang up frequently. did you experience any thing of the sort?
