to cwts: no, this model won't be released in spore. read somewhere, said E60 and E70 only avail for solution integrator and not retail release in spore.

well.. u can always go to malaysia to get one... but it's troublesome for the guarantee and firmware upgrade...

Many thanks for your excellent posts!!!

I'm thinking of buying an E70. The advantages are many and it looks like bye-bye to my laptop when travelling, it simply will not be needed anymore.

Summarising your posts so far, the clear disadvantages are:
- no flash on camera
- no radio
- older business people may need to get reading glasses due to the screen's very high resolution

And some issues under debate:
- battery life (early posts thought it was poor but newer posts seem happy)
- hanging (seems 50:50 as to whether it hangs regularly or not according to posts)
- e-mail is expensive because it currently needs to use Advanced GPRS (but Basic GPRS e-mail s/w could be available at some point)
- IM not been successfully set up yet
- there might be a 45 second power-up cycle (Dev?); not good news for someone as impatient as me

And some questions:
- has anyone got Skype going on the E70?
- has anyone got push e-mail working on the E70? (Vodafone say they will be launching a push service for up to 10 e-mail accounts in Sept)

Finally, I cannot find anywhere to buy the E70 in London. I'll also buy a beer for anyone who finds a stockist in London with E70's.

The best smartphone I ever had. No hangs, no software problems, not network/service problems. Emailing and SMSing is extremely easy. Language problems are also farewell (I'm using German, English and Russian in my everyday communication). Additianally - a good multimedia device and internet terminal. The people who expected smth like XBOX in a handset format should take a breath and go buy the Nintendo DX.
SIMPLY GREAT BUSINESS INSTRUMENT!

To All :

Does Anybody knows how to set-up IM for E-70, I mean if I want to set Yahoo Messenger then what are the Yahoo server settings ? Can anyone help ?

Morover I tried to connect E-70 to my PC VIA IP Pass Through (Bridge Networking) which is connected by USB to PC which is running with ADSL Broadband Internet connection, then It shows connection made Icon, But its says limited or no connectivity in Windows XP, is there any solution to this ?

To mention here I was asked to download from Nokia's forum website, the drivers asked by MY PC which is RNDIS driver. After that it started showing connection made But it shows limited or no connectivity.

To those who dont know IP Passthrough, You can connect E-70 to a PC / Laptop (by USB cable) with ADSL or DSL or Cable Internet running and can get same speed of Internet on your E-70. Here is difference between all other phones and E-70. I mean real good phone with all modes of connectivity. Does any other Nokia E / N series have this feature ??? Let me know too.

SUB : Autolock of Keypad

I mentioned earlier about Autolock of Keypad, actually it was Autolock of Phone.

However I found that Autlock of Keypad is different issue altogether and some buddy here mentioned that how keypad to be locked & unlocked manually in two different ways.

1) By Pressing Left Top Selection Key(Blue) then * button at bottom

2) By Pressing Power button then scroll down to bottom and select lock keypad.

Both above are manual way to lock keypad.

Now I found that Nokia didnot supplied software by default in their phones and we have to download this software from any available supplier by ourself. One Good thing is that I found its free software ...Now you can download it FREE Software For Autolock of
Keypad for all Nokia Phones with Symbian-S60 V.3 phones from below website. Also there are free trial games & other softwares so please try and enjoy.

I am very interested in this phone. However, I understand that there is a version that is more optimized for use in North America called Nokia E70-2. Can anyone confirm this? If this is true, does anyone have this version and, if so, where can I buy it?

To manually lock the keypad, just press at the same time the left function key (blue colored one) and the * key!

Dev, you can manually lock the keypad by pressing the power off button and then scrolling down to the bottom of the menu that appears where there is a lock keypad and lock phone opttion.

Has anyone received any updated news on the BLACK Colored E70 to be released?

On the Australian/NEw Zealand Nokia website, under the E70 phone demo. It lists both colors. Grey and BLACK.

Yes, It supports Mini SD of 1 GB, infact Nokia website mentioned it supports upto
2 GB also, However I have not yet purchased 1 GB or 2 GB card yet, I am going to buy the same within next week. Please see other users already using 1 GB and are very happy with its performance.

Please inform how do you make Keypad Lock Manually, I couldnot find anywhere mentioned as manually Keypad setting.

For making Keypad Autolocking with some time Gap setting please do as below :

Go to Menu ==> Tools ==> Settings ==> Security ==> Phone & SIM ==> Please find 'Autolock Period' ==> Press It, then You have 2 options NONE & USER DEFINED, If you press User defined you get choice to set time in minutes.

Your comments noted, Dear main advantage of E-70 is that its Keyboard, keep aside all the features once you use this type of full keyboard, then you will not like to use any other phone, ofcourse you shall be heavy user of Messaging/Mails. Full Keyboard with comparative smaller size of phone is best with E-70. All other features are also very much comparale with N series. By the way do you know resolution of E-70 is highest among all E seies and N series till now.

1. the phone is good if u install i gb mini sd card
2. the main advantage is that it is a good mobile which gives extra duration of battery
3. i have some problems of the mobile hanging in between when i am speaking in the phone .
4. its camera is ok not so good or bad
5.the phone is not too good as n80 , n70 etc

1. I CAN SAY THAT THE NOKIA N-SERIES IS MUCH BETTER THAN THE NOKIA e -series

1 the nokia e70 is hanging a lot
2 i suggest nokia to help me !

1. i hope that nokia e 60 is good atleast better than nokia e 70
2 the nokia 6270 is really good phone for these very year.

NOkia should make phones of such kind which any other mobile company cannot make

the best thing about the phone are

1. It Belongs to Nokia
2. It looks cool
3. It has 2 Megamixel Camera but no Flash
4. I belive the sound effect is really cool
5. I have Experienced many nokia moboles
starting from nokia 6101,6100,6610i,6600
the phone which i love the most,then 7610
a short period of time ,6630,7710,6680,n90
n70 and atlast e70. as i have used this
many mobiles because my father has a
bis showroom of nokia phones in newyork.

tell that the best among them is nokia
7610 in looks and n70 for its flash . 6600
for its wonderfull pupollarity.

I use an 1GB miniSD card on my E70 and it is working great! I assume the 2GB card also is working with this phone.

what a fone!!!!!! a spectacluar fone from nokia!! brilliant screnn..amybe my new replacent to the 6230i.....unless i like the nokia 6233 when i see one....can sumone tell em how much the e70 is worth as i paid £200.00????
