An E70-2 was announced along with the E70 last year and has the 850MHZ frequency. Our North American networks support both 850 and 1900 however the providers tend to use the combination in order to provide more extensive coverage and so a quad band phone would be more ideal for me.

Does anyone have E70-2 availability information?

It's available! The price is 450-500 E, VAT included. In 2-3 months, i think will reach 400 E...
Unfortunately, Nokia is loosing ground... they are moving way too slow.

hey guys, seems it's finally out. distributed in some countries in europe! google E70 and you'll find a few retailers in UK for ~£400. also note that "coming soon" text has been removed from Nokia Europe & Nokia UK website.
I found it in Malaysia for 2200RM ($550) but Nokia Malaysia still says coming soon!
anyway I think it will be everywhere in 2 weeks.

geoff, i could not agree with you, to an extent.

yes, we're all waiting here with our cash in our fists ready to buy it before its price drops, which is good for nokia, and probably not good for us.

but the doubts regarding the phones reliability, or awesomeness perhaps, caused by the fact that it hasn't been released yet should probably be eased by the fact that they delayed its release to fix the alleged problems (ergo, late, but problem free phone). i suppose it could work both ways. i also suppose that it would be difficult for my explaination to be more confusing, and i apologize. i guess what i am trying to say is that you should probably not worry that the phone is to be flawed, for they probably have fixed all the problems during this delay.

but yeah, i can hardly wait.

Well, I'm not so sure about announcing these things ahead of time hurting sales... it may just help them because we are all waiting (i've been wating for this phone since it was announced, hating my current phone but i don't want to spend money on anothre one that i know i'll just sell as soon as the e70 comes out)

BUT, what does hurt them a ton is nokia saying that it will be ready in q1 and then not launching until late q2 or even q3 - that makes me think that this phone has major issue with it and now i'm having second thoughts.

The E70 and the E70-2 (850 instead of 900 MHZ)were introduced at the same time. Will they be released at the same time?

Don't even get me started with how long we've all been waiting for this phone! It's true though that it's damaging their sales -I've wanted a new fone for around 4 months or so. I saw this and decided it's what I wanted, but if I'd've known it was gonna take this long I would have bought a handset inbetween. All I want is the god damn E70...now -not next quarter! If they can't produce, they should keep the details a closely guarded secret until they are ready to launch.

Yes, I agree. If there would be any other brand with a look-a-like mobile like the E70, I would buy it. Nokia is absolute not customer friendly with this E70. Main problem is that I realy like the E70 :( and am waiting like many other people already for a long time now...

                                Gus,
I take your point but there afre many aspects to the E70 you have overlooked. Ie E70 is 20% lighter which is an important issue with these big phones, also E70 has higher rez screen and 16M colours vs 990 with 256K colours, E70 WIFI is I, e & g vs 990 with b. E70 has push to talk and push email which 990 does not have. In summary the 990 is 2005 technology vs E70 with 2006 technology. That is the difference between a score of 8 vs 9.

However this phone is 6 months late and I think Nokia is doing themsleves a dis-service. I was going to buy a new 9300 last November but put it off thinking I could buy a E70 in early Jan and thus that is one less phone sale they did not make. I suspect manu others are in a similar position to me. I am sure that these long range and unreliable promises by phone makers damages not only thier image but also their sales. Smokey

I read about you comparing this to the P990 and I have to object to your opinion. Don't get me wrong, this is coming from a Sony Ericsson lover. I had a K750 and it was my favourite phone I ever owned, except the reception was bad because it did not have GSM 850. That is also the main flaw for the P990. Nokia is going to release a Nokia E70-2 model that will have GSM 850 so that the phone has more potential to succeed in North America. That is the biggest flaw about the P990. But the P990 has several other flaws. The keys look very squished unlike the E70. The P990 is going to be sold for $1,300CDN on Expansys and the E70 will be $750. Those are ok prices but they're not great. My point is that the E70 will probably be 3/5 the price of the P990.

                                  Also personally...I hate touchscreen.

BTW....Does anyone know an EXACT release date/week for the E70? I have been waiting for this phone forever.

I was comparing two phones and I notice that when people are voting they do not do justice to certain phones when they are voting.
For example: Take two business phones like the SE P990 and the Nokia E70. Looking at the performance marks, SE is voted at 8.2 and Nokia E70 at 9.0 Now taking in to consideration that both phones are not available and the voting is done purely on the manufacturers specification and write ups I can not see why both phones do not have the same marks. Although personally I would have marked the SE 990 with higher marks as the talk and stand by time is a little more that the E70. Considering the Features again SE has more features than the E70 such a radio, second camera etc, which again I would have given the P990 higher marks as any person that curries out an objective comparison. Regarding I will not comment as this is purely a matter of individual taste and appreciate the variation in marks given to each phone by different individuals. So can any one give a real vote on a phone? The answer is NO. So the voting scheme must have some real criteria when comparing phones one can see that the marks are not representative. Etc etc. Myself a Nokia customer for many years I would like very much to acquire the P990 once it become available.
