Does E71 Hangs/switch off sometimes or... moreI've had E71 for two years of heavy use now. I've only had it freezing once, and I can't even remember when.
Just make sure you have latest firmware by downloading and running the updater from here:

Regarding the "Switch" application, yes it does have it.

If you're not in a hurry perhaps you may want to wait until mid February. Nokia will supposedly announce E6-00 (rumoured to have similar form factor to E71/E72/E73/E5), perhaps that would be a better choice if you're looking for a more modern operating system looks/functionality.
If you must buy one soon, I would personally get E71. It's been out there for a while now, and its firmware has matured. The build quality is very good (more rugged than E5), and should last you two years without much wear and tear (it should still work fine as backup phone when you're getting the next phone after).
Yes, it's a bit outdated, but it's reliable and reasonably cheap. IMHO, since E71 and E5 are already outdated out of the box (because Nokia is going for Symbian^3/Meego phones now), you might as well get the one with more established track record.
Newer isn't always better. Perhaps you should make a top ten list of your most desirable criteria, sort them from "most needed feature" to "hey, that sounds cool!" and start from there?

E5 has
good processor & RAM ,
5 MP camera , But Fixed focus
3.5mm audio/video jack
12:30 min Talk time
New & attractive firmware feels great & new
inbuilt utility application..
But in E71
slower processor & RAM,
3.5 MP Camera Auto focus
10:30min Talk Time
2.5mm Audio Jack
I prefer Mobile for Rough use at least for 2 years
PLz ....Plz ...Help me to choose which one to buy..

kindly from you i just bought the nokia e71 but i dont know the pin code so i tried 0000 it couldnt enter and after 5 times he wrote for me pin code blocked . enter PUK CODE. WHAT SHALL I DO PLEASE NEED HELP?

Always one of the best smartphones :)) now not the latest features, yet a practical, slim, light device with loads of compatible apps, good browser, good battery life - may be lacking some media apps, hi-res. camera & optical track pad (check E72) .. simply, i adore this phone :)

how can i remove my shortcuts from the display???
Go to Menu>tools>settings>General> Personalisation> Home screen
Then click on Home screen (default active). That will remove your home screen shortcuts. If you want shortcuts back then follow all the steps to go to the home screen then click to home screen to get active home screen again.

I Like most it becouse it's intrnel memory is more than other hansets. It's looking is very very efctive.
