con: short battery life, screen easily smudge, difficult to open and close battery cover, keyboard too small. Pro: looks cool, packed with functions

Great phone. Been using it for 3 months without any problem until one morning, as i power on, memory card was corrupted. Still on the learning curve and no backup yet. Used the opportunity to upgrade firmware thru Nokia care for free. But I have to install applications one by one.

Hello all!
Nokia E71's new Firmware is available. Please update it through Nokia PC Suite. Its over 100MB and I have already done it. Its a bit faster now.

Why would you want to downgrade from what you're using now? its up to you to decide whether to downgrade or not but remember, if you do you will be one of the people who will complain about the sounds, the small-ish display, and poor camera performance, etc...

And we just slide the connector in and out. No lifting or pressing anything. Just like any USB dongle has the gold connectors.

This is the first time ever I'm making a complaint about a Nokia device which I own and and unfortunately it it this very handset, the E71.
After the firmware update the phone performed absolutely brilliantly until now. The phone started to freeze all of a sudden. Tried formatting the memory card, restoring original factory settings none of which helped me until I re-installed the firmware.
So what I just wanted to tell you guys is that if your phone gives any of those symptoms just do the firmware re-installation or upgrade it and you will be just fine.

Nokia launched their own e-mail client so none of the newly launched E-Series devices are blackberry compatible. Older versions such as the E51 is blackberry compatible though.

This is phone has never let me down, as an Electronics Engr. I am impressed with both its Hardware & Software capabilities especially its speed of operation. (I have used it for about a year)
However, so far, the only "drawback" is its battery life, though a better battery would have translated to a more expensive phone & incompatibility with other E series phones.
Bottom-line: Kudos to Nokia!
