I am using this phone for last 4 months and the phone rocks. Only one thing depressed me is the battery which is not at all good even making the Brightness the lowest and swiching off the WLAN scanning. For skype/gtalk/msn calls use FRING from E71, absolutely no problem. The phone hangs sometimes and then u need to take out the battery. For this one, please clear up ur call resords and sent messages, it will help. You can also install the MSN where u can only chat but u will hv the feeling of using it in PC. The camera/mp3 player is really very poor ofcourse for myself its fine. If you wanna surf website download opera mini and enjoy.
If someone is aware of any YOUTUBE client info for E71, please let me know. Otherwise I can assist u in any other info you need for E71.
Overall, I swictched from SEP1 and I fully think I made the right decision. SEP1 was nice but the WIFI was horrible.

Max, 17 Dec 2008what is the proper way to go about the initial charging?...... moreMAX, it's best to charge it in OFF mode and try not to use it any at all before the initial charge.
This may sound unecessary but a 24 hour charge will do it more good than harm. If 24 hour is too long a wait and you have no other phone to use in the meantime then charge it overnight for about 8 hours.
I have never had any problems with my Nokia batteries. Many times I get more talk time than what the company says I should get.

I just bought this phone for 3 days, after using in for a while finally i appreciate for Nokia to build such a good phone even if i want to be honest, its not totally different with other Nokia Symbian Based Phone .
The main advantage are
- Very good of quality of the phone, its looked like luxurious phone...
- Very completed connectivity : Bluetooth v2.0, IR, WIFI, HSDPA, GPS Navigation, all in one handset..
- Slim phone for business oriented...
- Good display and nice sound
- Support up to 8GB Micro SD, mine is 4GB Kinston High Speed Micro SD and already have almost 100 games in it :)
But..
- Camera is worse than my SE C702...
- Need adjustment to typing message
- Symbian........ i still love java oriented....

Just got my Nokia E71 yesterday and my first impressions are:
* Impressive design
* Impressive quality build
* Impressive Symbian UI
* Impressive ease of use
* Impressive manual
* Impressive ease of using QWERTY
* Good screen
* Good sound
*
I am really happy with this phone. Before I also had a Samsung Omnia, but my first impression is that the E71 is much . . . MUCH better!!!
Samsung AND Windows Mobile still need to learn a lot! My opinion is that Nokia is still number one in phones!
(A pity I bought my Samsung Omnia, for sure that is not my type of phone, I prefer a Nokia with Symbian and NO touch screen). I can't imagine that anyone will be disappointed when he/she will buy this phone.
WELL DONE NOKIA!

of course you can download films on this. though I have been trying to find software that lets me drop the resolution on .avi files to something that is more memory efficient for phone size screen. Any ideas anyone?
Also check out the Opera Mini web browser - make the internet easier to use on the phone.

Hi Guys,
There's a couple of question I would like to ask. Does anyone know how to use the autofocus with E71? Secondly, Im useing a 16GB micro SDHC card with the phone but it seems stuck everytime when i refresh my music library, when I said it stuck means I can still use the phone fine with the music player stuck. Please advise and thanks in advance.

batz, 15 Dec 2008Im getting this phone towards the end of this week. Just... moreIt comes with an MSN installer and you just open that up and it installs! I've had this phone since October and it's the best phone I've ever had. I love the keyboard and having Wi-Fi is great and I definitely won't be able to have a phone without it if I ever have to change. After I didn't use the home, calendar, phonebook and messaging keys for a few weeks, I've used them ever since and they're very handy. Only thing I'd change is the browser being more like one on a PC. Even with Opera Mini, it still lacks a little bit.

Gabriel Garcia, 16 Dec 2008Very useful BUT the battery just longs 2 days ...any advice... moreHi Gabriel,
Couple of things.
1.change the network from dual to gsm if u r not using 3G.
2.Turn off automatic scanning of WLAN.
This might help. Also let the battery drain once completely and then recharge.

I just bought this Nokia E71 after reading all the reviews from the net and magazines. I liked the phone but when I went through the menus the screen was frozen few times and I have to remove the battery to start all over again. It is a good feel out of the box but the functions were disappointing from the begining. This phone is available for pay as you go in UK for £ 280.00. They could not sell it in the regular contracts. such a high speck phone why not available widely and is given relatively cheap as well compared to other phones in this range. I would not recommend this.
