kevin, 20 Dec 2009does this one REALLY have autofocus on the camera? on the... moreE72 have an autofocus camera and so does E71. E72 autofocus feature works just like on any other mobile which has an autofocus. In E71 you have to press a key with alphabet "T" when you aim an object. E71 has a very unique business camera which also serves as a great barcode reader and it scans documents and name cards like a pro. No other mobile in world is as capable as E71 when it comes to document scanning but E71 camera is worst when it comes to a standard photography like taking pictures of a person or object in low light conditions.

B S, 20 Dec 2009Rajesh what u mentioned applies for all products and not on... moreHi B S, you cant compare $500 investment on a gadget with $5 spending on movie for enjoyment. You have to be practical here. If a $5 movie is bad you will curse it for wasting your precious 2 hours. Now how about a gadget on which you invest and trust it 24/7 to be your faithful companion in business. We already have enough headaches in our day to day life and in no way we can afford to add more by any cause. Hope you got my point.

Rajesh, 20 Dec 2009Friends, I have always been an observer of first release of... moreRajesh what u mentioned applies for all products and not only to Nokia. What you say is like watching a movie after 3 months after the release when the crowd is less and tickets are cheaper. You can not dismiss the joy or happiness of owning something new rather than buying it when your driver or maid already has it.

In US and European countries the consumers have an option to return the product if its not upto the mark. But in Asia we do not have that luxury.

Most of the shortcomings can be overcome after updating the firmware.

But i agree with you that it is prudent to wait for a while. Although I bought it on the first day of launch as i was waiting for it for more than 2 months. I do have some issues but i hope i can find the new firmware to upgrade it sooner or later

I have been using this phone for a month. The build quality is solid and battery life is exceptionally good. But unfortunately the OVI store is yet to stock up software for E72. No maps yet. The SMS preview software is a dumb one. When it displays SMS, it locks the phone and you can not answer a call. My set has a major issue i.e. the phone goes into silent mode on its own sometimes for reasons best known to Nokia.

The WLAN scanning is a pain. In middle of a music or movey play, everything stops and phone asks you to choose WLAN network.Even turning off the WLAN scan is of no use.

The screen is very small for web surfers. The optical navi key is irritating. you would be better off without it.

I will never buy a candybar phone with qwerty keyboard. Its too small. I feel i should have gone for N97 or N900. But I went for E72 because of the battery issue and price (S$645).

In business, it does'nt matter what you can do. What your competitors are doing with success, you do it better. Nokia brought higher processor speed to E72 not because it was needed by the S60 OS but it was a market requirement as a vast majority of consumers go by the specs on paper and make their buying decessions on higher specs. S60 works flawlessly on E71 and E63 with processor at half speed. Try playing high bit rate mpeg4s on E72 and you will notice jerky videos. Higher processor on E72 is a marketing strategy with flashy looks of fp2. If today I were to use a Qwerty handset to do my day to day tasks, communicate, a bit of entertainment I would definitely choose E71 to E72 as it is a final product and above all at a very reasonable price and above that you are getting a designer mobile with feel of steel and mark of best craftsmanship ever in mobile industry. You will only miss a better camera which to many business users does'nt matter. But keep track on E72 as in future(2 or 3 months) it will be available at much better price and would be a stable product. Think about it

sohana, 20 Dec 2009hi,u r rite.can u tell me wen is the 3rd batch of nokia e72... moreI have noticed that in 2 to 3 months after release of a model, fresh batches are shipped around the world. You will find probably an updated firmware with fewer or no bugs and for sure a much better hardware. Also by then if it may interest you, you will find various accessories like beautiful designer covers etc from third parties to protect your phone which are hardly available at the time of 1st release.

aryan, 20 Dec 2009hi rajesh .... i have been followin ur comments from day ... moreHi Aryan, I personally would recommend you E71 if you want a stylish phone but E63 is a winner if you are on a budget. Both these phones have fm radio and a long battery life which is a must have when you want to use a fm radio for long time. PDAs on other hand have a very short battery life which itself is a let down if you listen to a radio on it. Probably thats the reason most PDAs dont have fm transmitters included. By the way E71 and E63 should be able to satisfy your PDA needs if you can compromise with a smaller display.

                          hi rajesh ....
i have been followin ur comments from day one .... as i am on a lookout for a new phone ....currently using a P1i...here in uae when E72 was released it was AED 1999 .... now its AED 1500.... tis is not acceptable... if a nokia phone is loses its valve so fast ... it means that sales are down and it again means that there must be some serious issues with the phone .... is there any other phone that you wud recommend me to buy ? i do not change phone often ... looking for a pda .... but need radio in it ... most of them dont have one...

another thing is , does nokia see these comments we are posting so that they can improve the product.

                          bless all

                              E72 Bad Things:-
                              - It does not auto recognise capital alphabet like E71
                              - When u type fast it skips some alphabet
                              - When u insert a Image in a word sheet it doesnt recognise
                              - Whenever u restart ur phone most of the times u lose your email setting.
                              - Web browsing is slower than E71
                              - You cannot underline or use bold or italic through shortcuts in word like Ctrl U, B, I like E71
                              - This phones hangs now and then like a windows based.
                              - Contacts shortkey does allow u to add new contact after long hold.
                              - Basic Barcode reader is missing.
                              - Web Feeds in missing in he bookmark list, u need to go to setting and find it.
                              - Mailbox clock switches the date at 12 noon. So u get the mail dated to next date.
                              - Memory card in setting is missing which was usefull in E71, like format etc.
                              - Nokia has saved it time by not making new O.S. Has used N-Series user interface which does match with the E-Series User Interface.
                              - Optical Key not at all usefull
                              - The System is so slow that even setting come very slow, and if u try to select things fast then it leaves you back to the home screen including surfing mails.
-Battery Backup is only about 1 and half days, and more worse is that u cannot trust this phone as day 1 it shows full battery, and second day you wont even come to know when it comes from full to drain.
                              - Even if Wi-Fi server is not found it still says Hidden Wi-Fi found.
                              - In Opera 10 Browser u cannot use 'U' it only uses *
                              - Even space bar key hangs now and then and to use it we need to restart the phone.
                              - Spacebar Key Hangs now n then.

Friends, if you want to be in business, it does'nt matter what you can do. Only thing that matters is what your competitors are doing, do it better. Nokia brought 600 mhz processor to E72 not because it was needed by the S60 OS but they targeted Bold 9000 which is using 624 mhz. There are vast majority of consumers who go by the specs on paper and make their buying decessions on higher specs. S60 works flawlessly on E71 and E63 with processor being mere 369 mhz. But try playing high bit rate mpeg4s on E72 with 600 mhz processor, you will get jerky videos whereas they play as smooth as possible on 624 mhz BB Bold 9000. 600 mhz on E72 is a marketing strategy with flashy looks of fp2. If today I were to use a Qwerty handset to do my day to day tasks, communication, a bit of entertainment I would definitely choose E71 to E72 as it is a final product and above all at a very reasonable price and above that you are getting a designer mobile with feel of steel and mark of best craftsmanship ever in mobile industry. Has some body in MEA region got Black made in China. My answer is NO! the keys pads light leaks and plastic parts plus thickness batt cover half. caliper thickness is 0.03 against E71 0.05mm.
Wait 1st qtr 10, price will tumble to 300$. Chinese ditto copy is 100$. Presently can buy six pcs of topaz china.
