You know, John, I've closely examined the specs of the new BB Bold and the E72 seems to win the contest in most areas. Again, the relatively low display resolution is one thing which could be improved upon, but besides that, the E72 seems to kick ass in every way possible.
Yeah, it is a "real phone".

To everyone here:
It's great that you guys are excited about this phone, but my advice to you all would be to have PATIENCE. I know it's hard, esp because this phone was first announced over 4 months ago. (Damn that's a long time!)
But look at it this way..it's obvious Nokia are doing a lot of work on the phone to prevent software/firmware problems and other bugs which are so common with new phones. And I'm telling you..this phone will be so worth the wait once it is released.
And yes, I have closely examined the latest phones from Blackberry, Samsung and LG. (And for those who want to know, I currently use iPhone 3GS.) The E72 may not have the best screen resolution but other than that, it is an obvious winner.
So keep saving the cash and my advice would be to wait a few weeks or even months after the E72 is released. Read reviews (on great sites like this one!) and make sure there are no problems with the phone. I'm sure it will be worth the wait.

I was told by a Nokia salesperson that this phone will be available on October 22nd in the UAE. But I don't believe him. It seemed as though he just gave me any date that came into his head. Plus he looked really dumb and stared up at the ceiling as if he was confused.

Went to the nokia store in alwarpet in chennai india.... They say this will be launched jan 5 2010 in India......

I dont know whether it is availsble in MY. I have tried a lot of shop in the Silicon (Phones) Valley in country but none seems to know. And Nokia itself is keeping numb on the official release. Our patient bloggers on this forum said Nokia was suppose to pre-release it in Indonesia but I dont know whether there was this happening there or not. Nokia was suppose to sell 72 units of this model. but if somebody has bought one of the 72's, I am sure they will come up to tell us whether this model were worth buying. So my assumption on the availability of this model is that it is not available in Southeast Asia. (but Vannessa said it is available. Is it hearsay , Vannessa ? ). The MY and Singaporean is keeping quiet, so is the Indonesian. I dont know about The Thais or Myanmar. Nobody from there has ever surface. For the other parts of the world ?. The Indians, Bangladeshis, Pakistanis are asking when it will be release . So this model is not available yet.
Why everybody is crying for this phone ??. To make it simple , Once you use full Qwerty keyboard phone , it just like someone has injected morphine into your body. You will get hooked, you will never want to settle for less. I had been using Full Qwerty keyboard phone for last one year (Motorola Q9h). Messaging is GOD blessing, but of course the phone is wide(broad) , so wide that I cant find a holster for it to carry on my hip. Until I went to leather shop to tailor made it. Motorola Q9h is not giving me any problem , never hang, but my friend(s) always complain when I send message to them . Never a single message but strings of 3 to 4 messages. Why I end up on this forum . The ego is there, I just want to upgrade. I came here when Nokia E 72 was announced. So I waited, waited and waited until now (the only time I waited this long is when I want to get married, my in-laws to be want me to wait , may be for me to grow-up, it took me 4 years to get married ) On spec, no other phone delivers better than this E72 (Dont get me wrong ) Honestly I never try any other qwerty keyboard phone . So my benchmark is my old trusty Motorola Q9h. MY sincere apologies to BB users and others . So it look like I got to wait ,wait and wait .(Anyway I am retired from my engineering job, nothing else to do) Just like the rest of you on this so call technical forum. So happy waiting. Hope your waiting with be worthwhile .
Please Nokia , Give us some light (even at the end of the tunnel.

I was going to buy Nokia N900 but after reading a convincing article where some guy compared E 72 and N900, I am in love with E 72

I´ve contacted Nokia (Netherlands) and they said the phone would be available in the first half of December.

i was trying to decide between the e72 and the n97, but after reading gsmarena today, i'm tempted to wait for the SE xperia x3 (rachael).... the specs are too good to be true!!!

The mentioned specification of Nokia E-72 is heart-touching but one thing i would like to suggest is to improve the RAM as they have improved the processor. Its performance can be more better if the RAM is upto 256.
And why its getting more late to be released. it was suppose to be in our hands by October-2009. we are waiting for it.. plz let it be in our hands ASAP.

It's already publicly available in Indonesia as much as IDR 4.8 million (USD 480). I have no idea whether it's full of problem such as E52 or not, though.
