Anonymous, 15 Mar 2009Hello Original_Jamaican and a happy Sunday to you! From te... moreNice to hear from you.

One thing I left out in my last post is that regardless of the class Nokia phones are positioned at (high end or low end) they always work within a budget. This is something I learnt over the years. Therefore the E75 is designated as a high end device but add more internal memory would have possibly gone over the budget so they decided to cut back.

If you take a close examination at most Nokia phones ever released you will see where some high ends lacked something which a lower end phone had. The ONLY phone which seemed to have it all, for it's time was the legendary 6230...which was the first series 40 version 2 phone (s40v2). It was certainly the best back in it's time.
I have always said that Nokia tends to put a few nice features in low end phones to compensate for the class it's in.

Finally, I haven't tested large file transfers on s60 Nokias where the internal memory was less than the file being transferred. However, on s40v3 Nokias, like the Nokia 6300, if the internal memory was too low for the file being transferred it would automatically transfer it to the memory card.

It is irritating why Nokia still have not given the SDRAM and the NAND memory on Forum Nokia
      http://forumnokia.mobi/devices/Nokia_E75.html
Furthermore the version of VoIP is not given. All this is clearly stated for the 5730 Xpress Music though the phone was announced AFTER the E75.
I also noticed that Forum Nokia did not bother giving the type of secondary call camera: VGA? QVGA? for either phone.
Why are Nokia so sloppy about tech specs after spending painstaking time building the phone? Is it too hard to write down the specs ??

A very neat design from Nokia..i am sure this phone will be one of nokia's trump cards..i hope it even better than nokia E71...which is the best nokia phone till date ...May be nokia could have done with a bigger screen..a design similar to HTC touch pro..which woud have given this phone the best of both worlds..a touch screen and qwerty Kepyboard..nonetheless a great phone..Hope that battery is a strong one....

Original_Jamaican, 14 Mar 2009I enjoyed reading your post BUT if you knew enough about No... moreHello Original_Jamaican and a happy Sunday to you!
From testing Bluetooth transfer, I can confidently tell you that if the phone memory is low on the receiving phone it does NOT automatically switch to the memory card. Furthermore there is no way of manually switching to the memory card as the preferred storage. A few minutes ago I tried sending a 17MB video file (VGA:30fps) from my N93 to my N82. The latter only had 7MB of free phone memory. The following message appeared on the N82: "not enough memory to perform operation. Delete some data first!"
One is not given the option of switching to memory card to receive data. This is a valid reason why phone memory should be larger.......at least 2GB.
Let me give another scenario. You want to hotswap a memory card and transfer info from the new memory card to your phone's memory. Low internal phone memory aborts the process and defeats the whole spirit of phone to phone transfer ie not having to use a computer.
Let me reiterate that 50MB internal phone memory is not enough on a high-end contemporary business phone.
You state that Nokia knows what it's doing. Remember that Nokia is run by people; they are human; they are not infallible. With past flops such as the unnecessary N93i, one can only conclude that Nokia knows what it's doing SOME of the time but not all the time!
The E75 will probably be my next phone because it is an allrounder. It has a full QWERTY that allows one to speed type. The E55 keyboard is not as fast being only a half QWERTY. The E75 realises that "all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy." In other words for a businessman to work maximally there has to be reciprocal recreation. Nokia have generously given us VGA;30fps camcording. This is absent in E55 (VGA;15fps).
The E75, though housing a side slider QWERTY is remarkably less thick than the N82 (14.4mm vs 17.3mm). This is a great achievement considering E75 is highly featured. Nokia obviously want their high-end phones to be more compact. This is why they announced E75 as the new communicator at the MWC last month. I doubt whether a communicator the size and weight of the E90 will ever be produced again.
Yet Nokia needs a contemporary E-series widescreen internet phone.
So many avidly use the web for business it is surprising why there is only ONE widescreen E-series: the E90.
Of course there is an alternative in the upcoming N97 but one look at the scanty QWERTY will indicate that it is not an E-series!
My hunch is that within three months Nokia will announce a 3.5 inch widescreen side slider touchscreen E-series phone. A touchscreen is unnecessary but Nokia have to satisfy the "junkies" that are addicted to touching screens!

Anonymous, 14 Mar 2009It looks like a twin of the 5730XM! You are right, the biggest question is why the E55 have stronger specs. than the E75 especially in internal memory and battery life. Well, only Nokia knows the answer to that but the E55 is said to be a new segment in the E-series. It's not said to be a upgrade to the E51...which would probably explain the strong start.

Somehow it seems more multimedia enhanced than business enhanced...especially seeing that they removed the standalone CONTACTS KEY...which I found very handy as you could bring up your contacts instantly no matter what you were doing with the phone.

According to Nokia the E75 is the new communicator. This was said at their MWC 2009 congress. Seems hard to believe though.

I always say Nokia knows what they are doing so I leave it to them.

SE, 14 Mar 2009 nice fown, hope its better than the XPERIA, well xperi... moreHow can SE Idou be more advanced than this phone when it has neither hardware Alphanumeric nor QWERTY keypad?? Who wants to work with grease and sweat on a touchscreen keypad??
The SE Idou will not be able to capture excellent shots because the lens is too small. Let's be sincere: if one raises the stakes to 12MP you need a purpose built digicam. SE is all hype.
                      SE Idou....SE Idon't!!

It looks like a twin of the 5730XM! One twin went into music, the other into business!
I hope Nokia have improved the browser. In N82 one cannot view a web page in full screen in landscape mode. The icons cannot be removed. Furthermore one cannot search (typing) saved pages.
Let me illustrate that the screen is too small. Take a Nokia 2.4inch, QVGA screened device. Put it in landscape mode and surf to E75 users opinions, GSMArena. If you zoom out to 50% (which is the lowest zoom level), you still cannot fit the whole page on the screen. At 50% zoom out level the whole page is supposed to fit on the screen in landscape mode. A way round this is to use the mini map and apply the overview function but alas one cannot read the writing although the page now fits on the screen. It is clear that a bigger screen with higher resolution is needed.
Nokia should seriously consider making a 3.5 inch non-touch, side slider QWERTY phone. The front alphanumeric keys would have to go in order to make way for the larger screen. Resolution could be bumped up to 640*360 pixels; .image aspect ratio 16:9.
As I earlier pointed out, it is a mistake to give a phone moderate internal memory (50MB) because file transfer by Bluetooth relies on internal memory. If the receiving phone does not have enough, no transfer is possible. This phone is capable of VGA;30fps camcording as well as a host of other Nokias. Transferring video files will be a nightmare.
It goes without saying that this phone needs a bigger battery and faster processor. Nobody has been able to tell me why the E55 received a higher spec.
Overall I do like the phone because it packs in a bit of everything. It has a lovely wide full QWERTY and Nokia has graciously given us VGA;30fps and a 3.5mm input as a bonus to this business device. Things that narrow minded HTC find hard to do!
