    Finally after multiple emails and chats with HMD support/ Nokia Care teams, I received the 00WW_2_350 update for G42 5G (Model TA-1586). Now that some OTA related bug is resolved from HMD's end, hopefully all future updates will be available smoothly as and when they get released.

          Never buy g42 in India. The product is marred by issues . Fist I noticed the last camera glass is loose . I thought to live with it because my love for stock os was far bigger than a loose camera glass .

          Then I came to face production defects one by one . First 2 dead pixels, then lint on top of front camera , then I went to shop to apply tempered glass .. there the shopkeeper said the 4 sides of glass is wavy so air gaps will remain on side no matter what ...

I complain a lot about that sensor because it's so widespread, but images on the G42 were nice for the price range during my time using the phone, before gifting to my dad.

Used it since midsummer this year. Yes, Nokia has said 2 OS updates and 3 years of security updates. I'm in Sweden

                    Was thinking of getting this for £74 but concerned with all the comments about phone not getting updates..any G42 owners happy with the phone and who are getting updates after 3 months? My understanding is this phone should get android 15

I went to the service centre to manually flash the A14 update. No monthly updates received after that. HMD should be sued left, right and centre for such attitude.

                            I had posted a review on Amazon.in about the Nokia G42 5G (TA-1586, 6GB/128GB) model that I had purchased (~mid-July, 2024) and I had faced the exact same update issues explained by maalicious and abhishekt9.

                            The following is the gist of the problem:
                            - The phone originally came with October, 2023 (00WW_1_430_SP01) build.
                            - After first power-on, it got an OTA update to November, 2023 (00WW_1_430_SP02) version.
                            - After installing this update and restarting, the notification for the next OTA update -- viz. December, 2023 (00WW_1_430_SP03) came and it also got installed without any issues.

                            - However, on subsequent restart no further update notifications were shown. Checking for updates in Settings showed that "Your system is up to date" and no further updates were available.

                            - After talking to Nokia/ HMD customer care and technical support, I was told to clear the cache and storage of some system apps and power off the phone, wait for 10-20 minutes and then power it back on. However, this did no make any difference as checking for updates showed thr system is up to date.

                            - Then I was told to wait for 2-3 days as this is only the first day of initial power-on/ activation of the phone. However this also didn't make any difference and I even waited for 2 weeks.

                            - Contacted Customer support/technical team again and they told me to go to the service center to get it updated.
                            However, I waited for 4-5 days more week to check if the issue will get resolved but still no luck.

                            - Finally towards the end of August 1st week, went to the authorized service center and they manually flashed the MR & SP update of March, 2024 (00WW_2_270 build).
                            However, even after this the OTA updates were showing the system as up to date while the HMD/ Nokia website showed Security Patches released till July, 2024 (https://www.hmd.com/en_int/security-updates).
                            - On asking the service engineer, to install the latest SP update of July, 2024 (00WW_2_270_SP04) he told me that March, 2024 was the latest available build for this device in India. (He even seemed to contact someone from the HMD technical team via WhatsApp). On further asking him about the same, he told me to wait for 3-4 days after which I might start receiving the OTA updates. I was left with no other option than to leave the service center with the March, 2024 (00WW_2_270) build.

                            - Till date, after >1.5 months of purchasing the phone I have not received any further OTA updates.
                            - In the past two weeks, I have contacted HMD support twice asking them to escalate the priority of the issue. They said they have forwarded the issue to their technical team and they will contact me via email. But I haven't received any further updates from them also yet.

                            - Talking to someone knowledgeable about HMD/ Nokia devices in a Telegram channel, it looks like it could be some buggy programming with with the update management servers at HMD. Could be as simple as leaving out a range of IMEI numbers from receiving OTA updates.

                            Anyway, the overall experience of talking to the HMD support team has been frustrating as they are not really acknowledging whether this is a known issue and they are actively working on a fix, nor are they willing to offer a replacement for the device under warranty.

                                  does antone know which camera sensors are used in this model ? according to one website it uses isocell GN5 for main 50mp shooter . but i find that hard to believe.

So, I tried with both locations and no update found. Moreover, I have actually updated to Android 14 by visiting the service centre, but now I am trying to get the latest security patches which are not available.

You'll need to select a MENA location to upgrade your phone to Android 14, because your variant isn't sold in UK and Australia, to begin with. There are chances that it's also sold in specific European countries, so try and test to see if each works.

                                      You also can use the USA location, but your phone would be upgraded to the Nokia G310 firmware instead.

I just tried updating my phone by using Aus and UK as locations with my VPN app and nothing happened. Earlier I had to visit the service Centre to update the phone to android 14. From Dec 2023 update I am now stuck in June 2024 update. HMD is a ridiculous company with zero care for its customers.
