Definately not for... moreI wouldn't be too concerned about being 'left' behind with windows OS. the rumoured lumia 1820 may have a snapdragon 805, QHD, etc; however the reality is there is not a lot of games that will need that extra firepower. Sure there will be one or two, however, most of the game developments are at iOS and android. PLus most windows sales are at the lower to mid range phones. Hence it will be a bit of a waste forking out on an 1820 (which in aust may be up to AUD 900). If you are able to get a 1520 at ~30-40% discount (brand new), that is an amazing deal.
EDIT: the one thing it will help is camera processing actually...but for 900 bucks? The lumia cameras are great for those who needs to get the right picture moment...no rushing. All imo

Sony is the worse offender. Z, then z1, now z2 and talk of z3 soon. And their improvements are really minimal; same design, new chipset but no apps can take advantage of it. Sure you talk of futureproofing, but...6 months later...new phone lol.
Obviously i don't have the figures, they may be making more money that way. But personally, it is just silly. I don't change my phone every year, normally every 20-24 months.

Just got a lumia 1520, coming from note 2 (and nexus, htc one x, samsung galaxy s2/3). With the new 8.1 update, i am actually very happy with this phone. The battery life is just...outside of this world. Built in wireless charging makes things that bit more convenient. Built quality is typical nokia, just...special; it's plastic, but it feels premium. Buttery smooth, no 'lag' per se.
Camera is great; however you may have to tweak the options a bit (sometimes white balance) in order to get the BEST picture. But the camera software handling is great, easy to use. Much quicker than the lumia 1020 (which i played for a few weeks), but still slower than the androids/ios. This is a camera that you use to get the best out of a scene, keep that in mind. AND the ability to increase the shutter speed...AMAZING, you can be extremely creative and make fun pictures (think fireworks, fire crackles,etc)
phone is BIG. and that depends on how you feel about big phones. Personally, i love the extra screen estate, phone feels sturdy and nice in the hands. You will more than likely need two hands a lot of the time; though it is possible to use one hand (albeit slightly awkward...slightly). But that screen is gorgeous. You can tweak it to be warmer, cooler, saturated, slightly washed out, increase the red/green/blue hues. WHatever you want.
Navigation is free, but you do need to predownload it (via wifi preferably). It's not as smooth as google navigation, but it has more features. It's on par with samsung's navigon app in terms of performance, if not slightly better.
Some people hate the fact that it's a 6inch phone then the apps are listed on single lines and you have to scroll alll the way down. But they're missing the point. The point is to add many apps you use the most on the home screen. Make that as beautiful as you want. You can add your own pictures, folders (developer preview...coming out to general public sometime in future), and you won't need to go to the app list at all.
The big problem (depends on who you are), is the app ecosystem. For me, it's grown big enough. There are still some apps/games i'm missing, but nothing too concerning.
I'd only buy this phone if:
1) bored out of your head with android/ios
2) got a good price
Harvey norman initially sold this for a crazy AUD899. They're now selling it for AUD698. The lumia 930 is being sold for AUD590. This just shows how awesome this phone is. Considering the games in the store isn't as extensive, there is no need for the phone to have snapdragon 805/810,etc. Phone will continue to be supported for another 1.5 years at least imo (considering the lumia 930 has same hardware and jsut recently released).
otherwise, the next best phone out there is the 1+1 (if you can get it!). It's Cheap, top of the line hardware, great camera, great battery, modify the hell out of it....and did i say it's cheap??

in that case, you have 1820 coming up. see the specs in some websites. its upgrade of the 1520 with enhanced features.
android and windows are two different sailing ships in different oceans dear friend. they both will never meet each others expectation ever.
close comparison is like : one person cannot have two mom's and dad's...LOL.... if its not medical disaster :-P
hope i answered. we can debate on this, if we can compare two different phone of same nokia lumia make.again price , flagship and features matters.

life is not about finding faults....its all about living with what we have and this 1520 is the gem as of my opinion.
everything cannot be put to everywhere dear thavam2014. its works on a basic principle call power management, which ,this other friend thavam2014 should understand.
to clarify to MR.thavam2014:
this mobile runs only on battery(huge powerbank).
for your requirement and desire, better wait till you get a mobile, which is solar powered and gives u power endlessly. then all ur ideas will jump in to reality.

Hi friends which is the goods app to watch you tube videos. The one from Microsoft just don't open and play youtube videos. It just shows"loading" but fails to load eventually.

My cell has problems with WiFi connectivity, ad store closed or cannot connect to store. Executive personality is ruined by shabby flip cover.
