I've read most of the reviews across the tech watchers too. Their biggest comment really is that it's not so much mid-range but that its colour profile is more accurate to the human eye. Most of the popular ones like S3, iPhone 5 and etc saturate their photos because they know that appeals more to people. On the flip side, this would appeal more to professional-level capturers than to the average consumer like you and me.
Personally, I prefer the color profile of the Lumia 920, which you can really work with better if you like to post-process your shots/clips.

AnonD-65243, 10 Dec 2012Yes Nokia lumia 920 works perfectly with low light image ca... moreNot perfectly, all the reviews seem to agree that low light photos is a hit and miss, sometimes the results were not impressive, BUT ALWAYS BETTER THAN THE COMPETITION.
So, its the best in low light. But thats not what i was worried about, the problem is the performance of 920 in daylight and normal lightning, all reviews agree that the 920 is in the middle here, below iphone 5, SGS3 and Note2, barely beating old 5mpx phones like Galaxy S2. Is there any rumors of a software update to fix this? Anyone reading Nokia forums or whatever, is there still hope for a software fix?

[deleted post]But he is right, a rooted android can install real linux, much like on the N900, and N900 was not a phone trying to be a pocket computer, but a pocket computer trying to be a phone.
I used to run Debian compiled for ARM on my N900, it was good but with 600MHz Cortex A8 and 256MB RAM the performance was a bit limited. With the quadcore and 2GB RAM of the Note 2 that would not be a problem at all. No need to mention any other high end android phones, running Debian on N900 was only practical when using a stylus, and Note 2 is the only high end phone with something similar to Stylus. Text input may be a problem though, as Note 2 does not have the advantage of a physical qwerty keyboard like N900 had.
Another thing is that N900 with its Maemo5 was already like a full Linux desktop OS, just touch optimized and with a Nokia-flavored Debian. (Maemo was based on Debian). Android is not that kind of full fledged Linux even when rooted, and thats why N900 to this day remains the best smartphone ever made - the unlimited and unrestricted full Linux OS.
