Also, AMOLEDs are faster than LCDs. The reason why Nokia Lumia 920's screen is so special is because it has the best from both worlds. With the Nokia Clear Black technology it offers deep blacks typicall to AMOLEDs while having the beautiful colors of LCDs and it is also faster than other LCD screens, fast enough to avoid any type of blur...

Zao, 20 Sep 2012Guys, can anyone describe pros and cons of Amoled and Ips T... moreAMOLED can light up single pixels at a time, while LCD/TFTs are have a backlight that illuminates the pixels. This means that if AMOLED needs a black colour, it just turns off the pixels that need to be black, resulting in an often "truer" black than LCDs, but also it saves a lot of battery cos the black is generated by turned off pixels. On the other hand, a LCD/TFT can give out white colour more battery efficiently than AMOLED.

Due to AMOLED being capable of lighting single pixels, it is capable of having "screensavers" (one of my favourite features of it). With LCD/TFT screens you cant just take the phone out of ur pocket and check the clock that is always on the screen, but you have to push some button to wake up the screen (to light up the backlight).

Otherwise looks/quality wise I dont think there are any massive differences, both AMOLED and LCD/TFT screens are used to make some of the most beautiful smartphone screens

Its too fat and heavy in regard to IPhone 5 and SGS3. Nokia should make something much better than this.

Nicky, 20 Sep 2012Phone??? 185 g phone???While just about none of us has got to try the 920 yet, the Lumia 900 with like.. 4,5" screen and 160g still felt light. I personally prefer my phone to be a bit heavier, it makes a huge difference to how solid and well built the phone feels.

So, with a 160g Lumia 900 feeling a bit too light, I thik a 180g 920 will be just about right. 99% of the phones out there are like 130g, go for them if you cant lift the extra 50g

AnonD-8044, 20 Sep 2012Folk have said iphone killer since 2007 but maybe this is t... moreNo single phone will ever kill something as big as iOS. If WP8 phones would be a huge success, we would see iOS losing popularity over the next 2-3 years or so.

There will never be a phone (just like iPhone didnt kill it's competition, it took it years to get there, same for Android) that will overnight "kill" any other phone/OS/brand.

So lets stop being ridicilous. And for 920/WP8 to be succesful, it doesnt have to be the market leader now. If it can secure a good chunk of the market share, it's in a good place. Then when in the next cycle of phone upgraders in 1-2 years start thinking about alternatives, they remember that they, those WP8 phones are quite popular now too, maybe I try one. That requires that they keep up amazing work the whole 2-3 years after managing to break themselves into the market.
