im a owner of n73 for 6 months now...and im extremely pleased with it...i didnt encounter the messaging problem until now...i also had 6230i 1 year ago and it was awesome...i loved that phone...dunno how urs exploded...really depends on the user...

This phone is a beauty. Really beautiful. But it stops there. Only after a month, it shuts down. When you text fast, it hangs...then shuts down. You cannot even shut it off. You have to again remove the back cover, remove the battery, and put it back again. What hassle!! I've been a Nokia buyer since 1999 and I'm just wrong to assume that buying a new Nokia phone, judging on how my past Nokias have performed, stood a greater chance of being better in the past. I stand corrected! Well... my 6230i (as a standby cellphone) exploded on my birthday - literally 3 days ago.

My phone is in big trouble, have been in service centre for over a week already.
As for the memeory issue n just like PC that u describe, basically, i know all, since i have been a symbian user for a long time.
Before firmware upgrade, common problem is:
1) Phone will automatically disconnect once in a while when u call people...
2) The 3G siganl will drop to zero n u will wait for a while for it to recover
3) Too many picture in the gallery, my gallery cannot open due to out of memory.
Poor memory management ...
All these my friends and i encountered. ABout 6 of them using N73.
When I try the version 4 firmware, it is very good in one aspect... MEMORY management.
But my luck is not there, my phone goes to hospital after the upgrade.....

This phone is better than most others, but for a 3,2MP camera suckkkkssssssss !!!!!!!!!!!!!! I mean I get better pictures from my N90, which is for those that didnt know a 2MP camera phone.take this test, make the same photos with N90 and with N73, and you'll see I'm right..if you wanna take pictures with your phone I recommand LG KG920, way cheaper, and way better pictures.

can nay one tell me from where to get a free software for n73 music edition for its light on software cause it falshes only when u take pic if u need in some place another just the light as in sonyericson plz do mail if u know

Jie,
Why are u not using the Nokia Software Updater to upgrade yr phone firmware as advice by Nokia.
The programe will detect the type of phone u are using and advice u abt the latest firmware suitable for yr phone.
Don't blame the phone if anything goes wrong if u do not follow the advice from Nokia.

Read the spec and don't confuse yrself. N73 and N73ME do not have WIFI.
The only exception, is in Hong Kong. So unless u reside in Hong Kong, my above statement stands.
For yr reading interest. Some companies do try to come out with a miniSD card that has WIFI embedded but too bad till now after more than 9 months, they have been sucessful for usage with PDA phones and not normal phones. Coz they requires a SDIO ver. I.0 interface. click to read more

N73 User,
I comprehend what u are saying. I indeed was lucky coz I never had much problem with my phone.
One common problem N73 user over look is that this phone is somewhat of a mini computer. So if there are too many program or functions are opened and operates in the background the obviously the phone slow down and even hang, just the same as our PC right.
BTW what kind of mem card and what capicity are u using. Funny but my 2gb Ultra makes the phone operate faster that my 1 gb.
Perhaps you should try, resetting yr phone to factory settings, off it and take out the battery for a few minutes then re-install everything again.
Last resort, my usual advise take it down to Nokia. For yr info, there are abt 10 of us friends using N73 and so far none have any major problems.
So, I hope u get yr problem solved, and keep us updated. Enjoy yr weekend.

i love this phone :) full-packed features, nice camera, loaded... but
9 things i hate on this fone:
1. SMALL FONTS - nokia why did you remove option to change font size, huh??
2. CRAMPED KEYS - the CLEAR key is MISPLACED, should be on the upper right as it has always been!
3. WEAK BATTERY - 3.5 talk time?? more like 1.5 talk time for daily use.
4. MUSIC PLAYER - doesn't recognize tags for my m4a files. i had to use the far less inferior AAC :(
5. Useless software I can't uninstall - lifeblog, flash player, etc. etc.
6. USB data cable/connector & headset - why proprietary? why not just use standard connectors??
7. Why is BLACK color ONLY available in ME edition?? what about the rest of us, huh?
8. Voice Recording - ONLY 1 MINUTE??? can't record voice calls, too
9. SYMBIAN installation is a big hassle - so strict on certificates!

Umair,
Your firmware is way way behind time, with the old firmware that came with my phone, it too hang and slow operation at times. But after each firmware upgrade, all these problems vanished.
So, my personal advise is that you upgrade yr firmware to the latest in yr country and not from elsewhere, coz each country has their own version even though their ver number are the same. This is due to the network provider of each country and they may be different from each other. So if yr country still do not havethe latest, be patient and just hang on awhile. Upgrade yr firmware using the Nokia Software upgrader which u can download at Nokia site. If u are not confident to do it yrself then best send it to Nokia Care Centre and have them do it.
U mentioned something abt music in high volume. The saying "garbage in garbage out" aplies here. So if your source is low in volume use MP3 Gain a program u can download from Dotsis to increasethe volume before download to yr phone. But moderately plzzz, increased it to 95 - 100 range don't burst yr speakers.
This should work for u without upgrading to N73ME. Anyway the new firmware has the MP3 player of N73ME, so get yrself a 2gb card, change to black cover and install the green theme....there u have it N73ME.

Jon, I'm from Singapore too. THe problem myself and I encountered is that when you go to your contact to key in the name takes about 10 secs to display.
WHen you insert recipents from Messaging Menu by SMS, it takes 10 secs too.
You are lucky indeed. :)
