Alex, 08 Jan 2011Try using Android phone like Galaxy S or Desire HD- and see... moreI beg to differ about the 'ease to use' aspect, symbian will always be known to be easier to use than any other OS. My friend has an iphone4 (which is well known for its stupidly easy and simple UI) and he claims that nokia phones are still easier to use and there are still some functions that he still dont know how to perform on his iphone.
BTW, the name off the app is quickoffice. If you want it for free and built-in, get a E7 which is a business centric phone. Nokia did not put it in the n8 because the n8 is meant for multimedia purposes. The built in n8 version is for viewing documents, power points and spreadsheets (cant edit them) Also imagine the horror editing a long document by using the on screen qwerty keypad, you've got to have a physical one. And some people dont like ad-ridden apps too....

if n9 does not have hdmi, should be in candy bar form factor, wvga cbd amoled 4" screen, n8 camera sensor, otherwise meego will be a fail

back again....
for a week of using N8, i can say it is a superb phone! lots of novelties as expected for symbian running OS, it's better from the other nokia touch phones, it's capacitive, strong build and it definitely says about the specification, not to mention the main part of the phone which is the camera, which produces splendid picture quality as well as vivid HD video, the one speaker below the camera is good, it's just when you place on a surface that is soft or covered, you won't hear it, but not that bad. I'm a nokia fan, but i also think there are other great phone on their field of expertise, you just have to know what you really like/want on everyday situation, for me, i like watching video and taking photos, and N8 is the best i can think of, with other minor thing i do, i don't have problem doing it with my N8

Thinkfree office is absolutely free on droid while nokia has poor *i don't even remeber name* office for £ 8-10! In short as of now Nokia sucks.

So not a single fool out there would expect it on a N series device. Single mono speaker in N8 is far better than many speakers of competition devices, and its on par in clarity, loudness and sound reproduction with the 5800 speakers (the only difference is 5800 is stereo and N8 is mono).

terrible phone. bad cpu, bad os, good camera but low resolution screen, still on 640*360? haven't you heard of WVGA? And where is the second speaker? I mean nokia make too many stupid stereo speaker phones, why one only in N8?

Rick, 07 Jan 2011I love the long touch feature of the n8 that brings up vari... moreHi Rick, don't get me wrong, The long tap came to Symbian in 2010 (universally, of course it was made its first/cameo appearance in mail app for S^1 in late 2009), but it was present in WinMo from 2002/2003 may be. Of course android has a dedicated menu button (Not to confuse with home button) to bring up those extra options and press and hold works in many areas to bring up even more commands like copy/paste or open in new tab in web browser and so on. Yet N8 does what we expect it to do, its neither the god nor the garbage and it is certainly one of the best smart phone and "the best" camera and multimedia (added to the multimedia capability "nokiabigscreen") phone yet.

The browser is a pain, but it has been fixed now, so your friend could have waited for the fix.
As for removing the battery, why would he need to?
I've read quite a few comments and questions about removing the battery but I honestly can't understand why anyone would want to.

If you want to delete a music file from the phone, better to delete it from music player so that it also gets deleted from the library.
