my first impression was it was an excellent phone. wifi, camera, games.... it was all superb. the interface takes a little bit of getting used to specially if your used to using an apple but its easy."

but u were unlucky and ur unit was faulty...
i bought 3 , been 2 months so far, no probs yet..
u dont get to call a mob is a piece of sh*t, just coz of a faulty unit

Your probably are the unlucky ones who have gotten the faulty unit.
However though, there are also a number of people who are happy with the n8. Good luck with your new phone anyway. And merry christmas to you.

i got a brand new unit recently, it came in a plan with a popular cellphone service provider here in my country.
my friends were telling me not to get it because it still has "bugs". i didn't listen to them because i figured all those "bugs" would be easily solved by a simple software update from Nokia itself.
so about 3 days ago i got my unit. using Ovi Suite, i checked my unit's software and was glad to find that its already up to date. thats great! i don't have to do it myself. bugs? what bugs? -- little did i know then.
my first impression was it was an excellent phone. wifi, camera, games.... it was all superb. the interface takes a little bit of getting used to specially if your used to using an apple but its easy.
then it happened...
yesterday, as i was adding contacts to my new phone. the phone buzzed...froze....then died! i couldn't restart it anymore.
i went online and looked for possible solutions. i found some but none of them worked. there is only one conclusion then my phone is DEAD -- D.E.D -- DEAD!
i contacted my provider's sales rep and was advised to bring the phone in. which i did.
they were very accommodating and was willing to replace it. i declined politely, instead i requested that i get another brand and model instead. i had enough. i should have listened to my friends the first time around.
im now waiting for my new phone (NOT N8), hoping to get it the next few days. its a hassle i know but its the price im willing to pay. after all it was my fault for being stubborn.
in conclusion, DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY BUY GETTING THIS PIECE OF $H17!!! get something else, a samsung galaxy or an iphone.

hello everyone,im using N8(blue) from last 1 month so far its great & smooth,bit of UI improvement needed,which i did with SPB.i have question if anyone knows...how u do voice search on GOOGLE MAPS.i have tried every thing to overcome this issue.but it say u need a SEND(green button)to activate it.if u people know any solution PLZ POST....Thank you

Best smartphone. Mindblowing design. It doesn't got the best market only due to 12MP camera. Still it got other new features. Those people who are saying that it got the market only due to camera are hating the nokia.
Who don't like Symbian OS pls don't give comments as it is bad.

My N8 doesn't want to read the .mp4 files, i can only hear the audio, no video image, any updates I'm missing or any code pack I can download?
BTW: I have the last update from the OVO suite installed.

N8 is available in amazon usa for 449$ with free shipper. Dark grey, silver and green are available, if you need blue or orange you need to buy from nokia usa.

n8 user, 23 Dec 2010i just bought n8 2 weeks ago... why it's so hot when i use... moreI think you are really n8 user. Heating is normal in nokia phones but avoid over heating. You can feel heat more in n8 because of aluminium body. In Plastic body mobiles like nokia x6 heating is less felt. If heating is too much please visit nokia care center because over heating is dangerous for mobile and for user also!
