in india nokia have increased the n8 price by 1000 rupee . I think nokia is cheating indians for this new year. There is no discount or offer for this new year. In all other countries there is huge offers... In USA there are selling for $399 as a new year offer price which is nearly 19000 rupee that is almost 5k difference.. What nokia think about india which is one of the largest market for nokia

Mobile-Review.com has done a lot of work investigating mass phone defects and published a lot of materials dedicated to the nature of such defects and their causes. Our resource is the only one constantly paying attention to this delicate issue despite all fury and anger that each and every manufacturer welcomes such discussion with. We have an excellent article about where phone defects come from and I highly recommend you to take a look at it. We also led our own investigation of the speaker defect in the Nokia 5800 (we were able to discover it before the company itself and provided a complete coverage of it; the defect was acknowledged by Nokia eventually), defects in the Nokia N76 as well as in some products from other manufacturers. Today, we are going to talk about Nokia's flagship, the Nokia N8, and its fellow device, the Nokia C7. In our opinion, these phones have principle defects, which Nokia, trying to preserve its reputation, refuses to acknowledge.

Defective Flagships. The Nokia N8 and Nokia C7 Dying around the Globe
Unfortunately, manufacturers' attempts to lower productions costs as well as their pushing new models to the market are made at the expense of decreasing testing periods. This can result into a large amount of phone defects that reveal themselves as early as within the first few months of ownership and can become a curse of a particular model. It is quite disappointing to have to take one's newly bought phone to a service center and then to wait several weeks for it to get repaired. It hurts even more to get the device from the service and have to send it back.

I want to know i am looking to purchase a new phn and my first choice was the Sony Ericsson Experia X10 I liked the look and feel of the phone and the function cause a friend of mine has one.

Now I saw the Nokia N8 and the internal memory is off the charts better than the Sony Ericsson it can video call which the other cant, I have had a Sony Ericsson for a good number of years but i have been rockin Nokia longer even up to the one that had the flashlight at the top.

Can yall help me with my decison.

Chrishd3z, 17 Dec 2010I will say the hardware of this phone is outstanding but th... moreIn your opinion!
Many people have gone to Nokia via Symbian alone without android or IOS
You get the phone and you implicitly say these are the features I accept, it may or may not have the features of a competitor, but to buy it and then say it doesn't perform like an iphone / android is disingenuous.
I like pineapplee but why does it not peel like an orange? ( well mother... nature)

All nokia are saying is this is my phone these are the features, as do the andriod eg Galaxy S. were android has only come into being recently, you seemed quite happy using symbian before android,

i am not missing a thing by not using THE OTHERS.
I quite don't understand the logic behind switching back. Again in your opinion Nokia are wasting millions er... no if you don't buy the phone they won't have the money to waste?
Whatever fad is the fashion seems you must have!
do you wear your trousers around your waist or half way down your legs? oh yes i remembered thats why i bought the phone for the camera no the operating system no the smoothness the screen resposnd to the mere touch
                      yeah right

I will say the hardware of this phone is outstanding but the user interface just isn't enough to keep me happy. I am a previous Iphone/Adroid user and enjoyed how easy and efficient it was to use my phone. Unfortunately with Symbian I just don't get that efficiency.

Nokia really should of just installed Android on this phone. I know many in the US would of purchase this phone if it had Android. I love Nokia and have been using them since the N95/N82/N86 and N900 but it is time to really transform Symbian or just jump to Android. Nokia is wasting millions on developing an OS that is only hurting them in the short and long run.

I was considering going back to my Iphone 4 but in reality the camera capabilities of the N8 is something I would like to have.

For all of you interested in buying this phone Nokia has a special USA offering. Use coupon code noknow2010 and you can have your Nokia n8 directly from Nokia for 399 plus tax. It's a great deal.

                                    This device is very good.
But let me tell you that my first N8 was defected and was really malfunctioning that made me go insane. Luckily its under warranty so Nokia Care swapped it with a new sales package.
Now my new N8 works like a charm, no freezing, no rebooting, no sudden turn offs, and not slow at all. and i have it loaded with apps from Ovi Store and i have SPB shell full version on it as well. so imagine i have 13 home screens on my N8.
The camera is awesome snap shots and video recoding.
touch is very sensitive / screen resolution is v.good.
The only thing i am not getting used to is the Virtual Qwerty...

I must Thank Nokia for this Device for they really did a gr8 job. and its money well spent :)

apart from the very bad grammar, your reasoning is seriously flawed
If say you buy an item for $700.00 you must expect it to come down in price later. It called the "oppotuntty cost". the premium you pay for owning the product earlier

If a person buys it for $449.00 ( which is quite a drop and i have a hard time believing it) the $251.00 you pay is for owning the the phone for the extra period, which is a bit like $251.00 rental (non refundable) and $449.00 ownership. The price will always drop as other events take place eg which normally maena a sale. Production cost lower etc.
I can't comment on the experiance with the aftercare but emails are the best, he said she said leads to all sort of problems. it does concern me (if true) why nokia would supply a non new phone beacuse that quite frankly is NOT ACCEPTABLE
