Have to wait til i get my n8. My service provider advised me to wait for the second batch of n8, coz the first batch got the switch off then not switchin on again. Looking forward to the n8

but windows7 vs ubuntu 10.10
we are comparing cause they are both the most recent versions of the OSs
and ubuntu 10.10 mangles windows7 in every way except gaming which is a given

Hell, you circumvent all the facts by posting this stupid nonsense and make it look like you know a lot. Will you please stop this jargons and concentrate on your English? Real software engineers do not comment on this forum like you did. Bottomline: software that can make use of a processor effectively are the most efficient ones overall. It's a symphony of software and hardware. And... nothing's perfect.

Sorry guys, Ubuntu is the slowest OS you can find still, they have improved some of the worst performance issues but it still sux.
Symbian is slow also. The core is lightweight/fast but wats a core without support apps? Modern symbian nokias dont have the power to run them smoothly, who cares how light the core is then?? Its an Arm11 processor still... The result is.. SLOW.

Compare it to linux, linux is just a kernel, a shell, linux doesnt become useful before you add a desktop environment, and that is GNU and not linux. So then you have what is known as GNU/Linux. and STILL not useful without applications.
Same as Symbian. You need a fone app, text app, watever apps, GUIs and stuff and God knows what. And these are the programs that require processing power. It doesnt matter how lightweight the core/kernel is, programs are not interpreted throught the OS, they run on the processor, they are compiled into processor instructions and therefor require processing power. WHICH NOKIA N8 DONT HAVE. (Android apps are kinda interpreted through the dalvik, a little different story)

You are just another troll. According to your post, you never even saw N8 except maybe in Apples PR (Eldar Murtazin) review.
I have 45 days this phone and iPhone 3GS.
Battery last 3 times more on N8 than iPhone
I personally compared iPhone 4 (before want him 2) and 1Ghz iPhone 4 is SLOWER than my N8 and 3GS.
Think like this: Linux and Windows
Linux will run faster on any PC just like Symbian^3
Symbian^3 is more mature and much better optimized than iOS. Therefore no need 1Thz "Tera" processor neither 1Gb or something RAM.
Instead trolling in here I suggest that you go to the first Nokia dealer and TRY N8. Maybe will stop believe in fairytale served by Apple mercenaries.

The more I'm using it, the more I like it! No lags, plenty widgets, ExCellent camera, just watched my movies off 16Gb flash drive used on divx player, WOW. Garmin GPS takes less than 5 secs to acquire satellite, 3D games are awsome, the HW 3d accelleration truly works! No lagging, plenty of apps considering age of platform. Was sceptical at first, but after 1 day, I'm hooked. Battery life over WAVE is double, running apps all day, video etc. Not to mention the CAMERA, WOW! Hdmi is AWSome. For South Africans, mxit works like a charm. Loving it, get one!

the only reason why people think it's slow cause
iOS and androidOS require alot of clockspeed and RAM to run
so if you used a previous symbian device and moved to symbian3 you would notice a big speed difference

Thats a very good account of symbian YET again..I get trouble with my n8 and even tho nokia promised they had got all this sorted out its still symbian troubles.
To person with 1 day battery thats good most are getting 11-12hrs with moderate to heavy usage.They could have easily got 1500 bp4l in these big devices but no they put piddly batterys in YET again..Why dont nokia learn from n95-1 about battery before putting in 950ma battery in n96..For gods sake they keep coming up with excuse ND yes THEY RECKON THE 680mhZ PROCCESSOR IS WELL UNDERPOWER...
nOW BEFORE ALL THE BACK LASH IVE BEEN NOKIA/SYMBIAN FAN SINCE 3650 BUT they put in the lower proccessor to save battery.Why did they not use their god damn brains and think of putting bp-4l in and upping proccessor to that of vivaz instead of underclocking it..The vivaz has poor battery at 1200mA li-po and we all know how good s/e are at batterys?
Its just how nokia are ,i think they dont learn do they.In fact all todays smartfones are crap arnt they,,their all lacking in some department..I an using a BB 9105 and that runs perfect with 32GB card.Can/video would only score 5/10 but at least it does everything with no moaning,that also applys to the samsung wave too..
