And more than that, we are talking Arm11 at 6... morebut its performing pretty well ,i have used sgs for 4months before n8 , and trust me the speed difference in os quite negligible ,is very low , yes browsing is better than n8 , but there r many other things which r better in n8 than sgs

I bought N8 one month ago, i have endless troubles with this phone.
Low performance, not fast at all, the flash of the camera influence the taken pic so bad and the battery dies too fast!! is this usual in this phone?? please help

Anonymous, 01 Dec 2010i accept it too , respect all , everything is good on one o... more1ghz is nice. And more than that, we are talking Arm11 at 680Mhz, Arm11... A cortex a8 at the same speed is twice as fast, up to 5 times faster when the multimedia instruction set is utilized to its fullest.
Arm11 need 2GHz to compete with snapdragons cpu core at 1GHz. And then all we get is 680Mhz? just because Symbian has compatibility issues with newer processors. Ofcors Nokia doesnt use Arm11 coz its fast enough, they use it coz they cant make symbian work properly on newer cores.
Symbian isnt as lightweight as you guys think, only the core is lightweight, a modern phone cant do anything with only the core loaded.

1. Symbian
2. Bada
3. Android
To make matters worse, Android isn't very good at utilizing GPU. Part of this could very well be that different phones have so different GPU chips, while on Bada and S^3, there is only 1 GPU chip in use.
Together that means that N8 can actually do better than any of the current Android devices. Bada is another matter, but with Wave II looking lot less interesting and the slowing app growth, the platforms future doesn't look all that promising.

Matt, 01 Dec 2010Samsung I9000i and wave are very powerful this phone no one... morei accept it too , respect all , everything is good on one or other ,but there r these idiots who just don get the fact , all they want is 1ghz processor , they don mind if battery dies in half day ,wtf , bloody pls act like grow ups , and why n8 after all , a person with iphone , a person with android ,and one with wave , all these people wants to come here only to n8 page and talk about their diks being longer than anybody else , worst of them all r the wave people who cant afford n8 nor sgs nor iphone , bloody underdogs !

Sails, 01 Dec 2010Oh I actually agree that SAMOLED is better than the AMOLED ... moremaybe you never used internet frequently on various devices. Ok for wap, and portrait, but in landscape mode and full websites then 640x360 is not nearly enough.
Oh, im too s2pid now, i forgot , Symbian doesnt have any real webbrowsers =) Ok, go ahead and enjoy your wap sites on your outdated N8.

The OVI application takes ages to start up and also the sync with Outlook calendar & tasks takes a very long time.
Hope there is a fix planned for this issue soon.

As I said the resolution argument on Wave vs. N8 isn't all that clear.

Been trying out the Angry birds game on N8. But the experience has so far not been very good.
The screen gets stuck frequently and there are stuck pixels...maybe due to hardware ???

The N8 has a 2-tone color...Is this becasue the top and bottom is made from plastic? (im not talking about the glossy black ends) or is it made entirely out of anodised alumium?
I.E, is the part where the menu key is and the top part made from plastic? Because my friend has one, and she says that there is alot of light leakage(By the menu key)! I'm guessing becuase it is very thin plastic....

It u... moreaccording to every mobile expert,every review and every test done on samoled..it is proved that samoled hAS the best display quality!!even my frnd has n8 n he atleast agrees that the display is much better in wave and galaxy s..
wave has bada and galaxy has android so what??both r better n faster than symbian..even bada has a beautiful interface..
i dont hate nokia but dont like symbian..

Samsung I9000i and wave are very powerful this phone no one argue respect all this phone N8 is amoled wave is super amoled but Nokia N8 is the king.

It uses RGBG PenTile matrix. The green subpixel resolution is 800x480. The red subpixel resolution is 400x480 and blue subpixel resolution is 400x480. So N8 actually DOES have better resolution on blue and red.
Last I checked, Wave didn't have Android, so I don't know how your comment was relevant otherwise.

50mb games r lagging in n8 while 300 mb games r running on wave flawlessly!what the use of so called "vram"??n u r calling it a better gaming device hahaha:d
n wave has better processor ram battery but still it's size is not bigger than n8..even galaxy s is not bigger although it has 4" screen..
n do u know y n8 doesnt have high ram n latest proc?? its not that n8 dosnt need that..bcz n8 cant afford to have latest processor bcz of symbian!!the most ugly looking os ever!!

Also there's not many a phone out there which can capture 12mp photos with xenon flash and capture HD video with stereo sound and have HDMI out, USB on the go, FM transmitter, Bluetooth 3.0, Dolby Digital, DivX playback, front facing camera, Gorilla glass and 16GB storage all rolled into one.
Your logic is flawed there is no phone in this World which could have done all of the above two years ago and there's not many a phone which can do all the above now.

-Android is so heavy, N8 is better for gaming device than any current Android device.
-S^3 can use VRAM so actually N8 can use RAM up to 1GB. No Android/iOS device can do that.
-The 640x360 display actually has better red pixel resolution and blue pixel resolution than Galaxy S or Wave.
It also can output HD quality video, has USB OTG, Great camera, best customizability (well, after N900), Camera that is so far ahead others its ridiculous etc.
Most manufacturers just solder components together and compete on spec sheets. Nokia actually designs phones by balancing the overall experience.
You can put in the fastest processor and end up with huge space eating heat sink, large battery and bad CPU lifetime or you can create efficient OS and use all that for something better.
