Friends, I've been reading all the user opinions on this phone as I've decided to but this phone within a week. But, the opinions are confusing me. Half of the users are saying it's faulty and other half say it has faults and is perfectly fine and is the best phone in this price range. What should I do now?

Badger, 22 Nov 2010Hi Guys, been watching the ongoing slagging match going on ... moreDear Badger,
If I would suggest you, maybe I'll be biased. Still, I wanna help you. If you want a faster GUI, DON'T buy N8, go for IOS or Android or BADA. But if you CAN tollerate that, welcome on board, Symbian^3 has a lot to offer you. If you consider camera over QWERTY, go for N8, else choose C6-00 or E7. If you want loud speaker quality, go for N8. If you wanna play HD games, go either N8 or Wave (S8500). If you want durability, and build quality with aluminium, go for N8. If you want network connection, go fo rN8. If you wanna browse net (out of the box) don't go for N8 (but you can solve that with Opera Mobile). If you want good battery life, well, that depends. Most of the phones today offer talk time over 10hrs. The rest lies on your usage. I hope I could help you. If you have any more questions, I'm sorry, I'll get biased to N8. So, leave me away from any more questions.
Take care.
CIAO.

Whahaha dude don't hate Nokia owners, u are just jealous.
Iphone does not support even the basic things like BT file transfer etc etc F*CK the list is to long to go on.
And Galaxy S please this is a plastic phone it even doesn't have LED flash whahahah.
N8 can doe so much more and still people are dissing it.
I would say keep dissing it so more and more people will get interested in the N8.
I just love the N8.
99% of the people who are dissing it never had a N8 in their hands so u noobs don't even know what u are talking about.

Hi Guys, been watching the ongoing slagging match going on between Iphone4, HTC DesireHD, Samsung Galaxy and Nokia N8 for a while now, hoping for some clarity as to which one to go for now my current contract on a Nokia 5800 has finished.
I'm not a troll (unlike many on here by the looks of things!) but could someone please clear one thing up for me -
I know about the antenna issue on the Iphone - wouldn't be a problem for me as it would be in a case of some sort anyway, but am concerned still about its performance as a PHONE in areas where the signal might be a bit weaker. Some phones just seem to cope better with weak signals than others (my 5800 is good with them, which is why I'm looking for something with similar performance)
I spend a lot of time away from home, and the wife would kill me if she couldn't get hold of me because my new phone wasn't as good as my old one!
Any constructive guidance (how your phone compares signal wise to previous models, especially if you've had a 5800 before so can compare directly) would be gratefully received.
I don't care which brand of phone I go for, have never been loyal to a manufacturer, simply to whatever is best at the time. The only caveat is that it would be on Vodafone, as they are by far the best service provider in the areas I work.
Will probably be posting this query on the forums of the other phones involved in this decision, although there appears to be a lot of owners who check out all the top model forums anyway!
Thanks in advance.

Anonymous, 22 Nov 2010gsm arena also told
* Symbian^3 is still behind And... more* Symbian^3 is still behind Android and iOS usability standards = That is because Android & IOS are just faster in response. We can handle that.
* No video light = I can connect a USB light with my N8 & make it my video camera light. Who needs dedicated video camera light if I can have Xenon flash in-built and a USB light as my video light?
* Camera interface is decidedly outdated = But it can capture more than any of your "UPDATED" camera interface. In other words, it is NOT EYE-CANDY, rather it is PRACTICAL.
* Relatively limited 3rd party software availability = As if your OS (Android or IOS) had a lot when it was first started?
* No office document editing (without a paid upgrade) = At least we get document viewer, don't forget that you (IOS) can't even get a file through BlueTooth or also get document editor with a paid upgrade (Android).
* Video player has some issues = Who wanna see small "Subtitles" in a mobile screen? Why do you need subtitle? Can't you hear properly? Then what are you doing here? Go to a doctor immediately. We watch movies, we don't READ movies.
* Battery life is not on par with best in the business = But I can use my phone for 2 days with playing games, calling, texting, Socializing watching movies, listenning music etc.
* Battery is not user-replaceable = So is in iPhone (1,2,3,4-all). If it was better at that point, what's the problem in N8's case?

Try using the symbian version of opera mini, it is a smooth as opera mobile (but doesnt render webpages as good as opera mobile, but still great) and it uses much less RAM

"Also I miss my stylus dearly. No stupid thing works on it. Nokia Could at least bundle one with it since they consider it as a Flagshp Model."
There is a capacitive stylus for it. See :
http://europe.nokia.com/find-products/accessories/all-accessories/carrying-and-styling/carrying-cases/nokia-capacitive-stylus-su-39
http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/1585907
I think the stylus is only bundled together with the n8 in the Chinese market only since they need it for chinese handwriting input.

I'm from India>Kerala>Trivandrum. Got it for Rs 23grands.
Got my phone 2 weeks before and gotta say it is a well worth upgrade to my Nokia 5800. I flashed it around 4 times with a hacked Firmware and Hyper-X's Camera modd. 4 times Coz I tried to install all possible softwares from s60v5 and s60v3 (mostly cracked full version), many of which made the phone crash. Then carefully sorted out the ones which works perfectly and now I have it on full swing.
Main Advantages i found is that the Camera Images, Video recording 720p@30fps (After Hyper-X Modd) worked mind blowingly well. Games played on it made me addict. HD Movies played on my LCD via HDMI with extreme clarity, 720p @6-7Mbps(Although gaming via HDMIis not that great but is a good experience). USB ON THE GO is an amazing feature where I could even Connect my wireless mouse and use my lcd for web browsing. Bluetooth connectivity is much better than my 5800. Battery Life is Amazingly longer than I expected.
Now the CONS. Why the hell did they put the speakers below the camera facing downward. The sound muffles away when I keep in My Jeans or put it on my table or bed. Also where are my stereo speakers Nokia? LCD Brightness always vary according to the light( No way to keep it fixed). When using opera mobile for a long time "Memory full" message Pops Up. Also I miss my stylus dearly. No stupid thing works on it. Nokia Could at least bundle one with it since they consider it as a Flagshp Model.
