I'm using the Nokia N8 for a few days (11 November, 2010) now. I've gone through it thoroughly and am very much satisfied with the phone.
I can say a few things about it:
Pros:
1. Very good battery life: after heavy usage - staying connected to the net the whole day, using camera with flash, phone calls (some of them were over 15 minutes), net browsing, using facebook, downloading softwares etc, still stood a whole day.
2.Superb camera: 12MP is awesome. I took a lot of pictures in different conditions, all came out great. The night mode is also great. Night video is also great, but lacks on video light if you intend to shoot on total dark situation.
3.Music player is good: I love listening to music. My personal experience is that you can't create a new equaliser (though I don't use my own), sound quality very good on loudspeaker, headphone sound is also good, but I'm personally using the N85's controller along with N73's headphone. That combination is AWESOME (to me).
4.Connectivity is one of the best.
5.Organiser ir good (but I miss the converter, couldn't find it in the OVI.
6.Panaroma camera (downloaded) works fine.
7.Swype (downloaded) also works fine. Be careful, download only the swype for N8.
8.Mail works very good.
9.I love the potrait AlphaNumeric keyboard. If Nokia changes the keyboard layout on their next update, I'll be sad. Even if they want to give us a potrait QWERTY, there should be an option to choose between the QWERTY & AlphaNumeric.
Cons:
1.RAM: RAM should be higher. I know that Symbian works with lesser RAM, but in my case (I started Music Player, My four mail boxes, OVI Download and Daily Star (newspaper widget, which is RAM hungry) - and the phone stopped responding for a few minutes, then restarted itself.
2.If I put my phone into power saving mode, the phone doesn't vibrate when I recieve a call/sms/mms etc.
3.If I want to see the full call log, I can't go down due to continuous refreshing (maybe, I don't know, because I was connected to the net at that time - my widgets stays always online.
Finally, I can conclude by saying, this phone is not as fast as Bada or Android or IOS, but is good enough fast for a human to use it. I'm not a computer with fast hands, I can live with the slow UI. I've transferred the camera pictures to my PC & guess what, there were NO NOISE (even of the ones I took at night). I can do a lot of things with my N8 that any Android/Bada/IOS user can't. For example, I can change my icons anytime I want (by installing a new theme), or making the phone an eye-candy (by installing SPB Shell). But I like the phone, it is very simple & user friendly. I don't like to go through the flat menu. I keep all my menu in my view. So having FOLDER option is good for me. I know where I put what and I can find it there, no need to search.
I started to love Symbian after using 6600 and still am in love with it. I love connecting my phone to HDTV & also connect a flash drive/another nokia phone to my N8.
So, in a nutshell, I am totally satisfied. Those who have this phone and are confused, please, be generous, have patience. This phone is for those who have patience. If you wanna keep all the programs running on the backgroud (who the hell does that anyway? if someone does, well, he's...), then it is not for you. But if you have the habit of closing programs after using it, I'll suggest you to go after it - it worth every penny you spend. Thank you nokia, but next time, make the RAM higher.
if you have any queries about N8, feel free to mail me at suhanoo@ovi.com

I read this forum everyday and I'm amazed of the posts and comments that I read. Your unhappy folks out there, don't blame the N8, blame yourselves for the high expectations. It's only a phone. Be happy. I'm happy. Even without Ovi store cause I did the 3 button hard reset. But that's my fault. Anyway, I tried out the HDMI port and it works just awesome. I went from N95 to N97 to N900 and now N8. I believe Nokia takes care of their customers, there has been firmwares for all these phone I had and made them alot user friendly. I can wait for the firmware for this N8, then I'll get back my Ovi store.

This is my dream phone at the moment... I don't care if the UI is not that flashy as iOS or android. Symbian remains to be the most-userfriendly UI for me.And n8's build quality? I think it's the best one so far. It's an important factor for a smartphone to be sturdy. It's a fact that we are still in recession and people mostly change their phones after a year or so. Ergo, we need a smartphone that could withstand accidental drops and the likes. great job Nokia!
