As for taking it to a techie, I'm torn between taking it or not taking it, as if the phone is compeletly dead (only mainboard change would bring it back), the repair would cost as much as a new phone which is not sensible to do and then I have to pay the techie for saying that the phone is dead which I kind of know myself right now. I guess I should start saving for a new one. Thank you guys for answering! :)

Can anyone tell me if and where, I could buy a New. N8? I live in South Africa, have a N8 for two & half years, and would like to replace for. a new one. if anyone is wondering, I do own a S3 4.8" which is ok but nothing special, and yes nothing beats the N8 camera or its fm transmitter. I've upgraded its software to Belle which gives it nice features. What about the N8 two cables, usb on the go, and the HDMI cable Samsung although 1080p doesn't match the N8 connecting ease. So until such time as a proper replacement is available, I'll stick to N8

I'm no expert, though, but something might have gone wrong physically. Can you have it checked by someone who's good at repairing phones?

Hi! I'm have a problem with my N8, I was browsing the net with the built-in browser and suddenly the N8 froze and shut off, now it won't turn on, plugging in the 2mm charger does nothing, the white led next to the USB slot won't light up and Nokia Suite does not recognize the phone, Windows starts loading some drivers (Nokia USB ROM or something) but soon says that device was disconnected. I tried dead phone flash with Phoenix, nothing, Phoenix says that it failed to set the phone in flashmode. I already tried removing the battery, holding down the power key for some time and the three-finger-salute hard reset, nothing. Is my N8 completely dead or I could try something more? The battery is okay, it holds charge and was full while the phone froze. Thanks in advance!

Amazing phone love the design and the built qiality. Browsing on Opera is very nice. Screen looks good, and they lock/unlock slide button on the right side is easy. Good breathing notification light below the screen.
