Anonymous, 01 Oct 2010Hi wheez,do u notice anything in performance issues eg. Lag... moreI have no lag whatsoever. The home screen changing isn't lag or slow responding, it's the way it was designed (not necessarily the best way, but meh..)

Unlike, say, Androids that follow the finger "real time" as you change the homescreen, in N8 it wont change the homescreen until it has recognized the full swipe command. This makes it loot it happens with a delay. It's not that they didn't have the "tech" to make it follow real time, the N8s music/picture gallery shows that perfectly that it can follow your finger as fast as your finger will move :D So I wonder why did they go for this design with changing homescreens, maybe so it wont accidently shake around all the time, cos some widgets use "sideway swiping" on the homescreen too.

But no, I have no lag whatsoever. It has very little transition effects like the iPhone, so that may make it look slower, but thats only cos theres nothing happening in the screen vs. a window moving out of the way for example. The time you have to wait for each phone are probably very close.

So far it's worth every penny for me, I wouldn't replace this for ANY other phone out there if I was let to choose one for free :D

Lags in swiping through home screens, inputin text in applications, etc.I read one review and the software implementations are not that good,is it really so? The only reason Il consider this over an android is it gr8 multimedia features, as far as the software goes it really putting me down.

john, 01 Oct 2010Guys, what s the difference between nokia n8's camera 12 mp... moreIf you'r talking about the Altek Leo, it has clearly alot of it's dimensions sacrificed for the camera, so I could guess that it would probably have a better camera. It even has optic zoom, geez! :D

But it's not the physical size or megapixels that matter. Optic quality (N8 having very high quality optics, Carl Zeiss) and sensor size do alot too. N8s sensor has been advertised as the biggest in mobile phones ever, but I don't know if that covers the Altek cos I dont think its really available yet.

Gowtham, 01 Oct 2010Can we connect Nokia N8 to a TV other than HDTV and LCD TV? Not by default. If you can find some adapter that turns HDMI cable into "other TV" capable form, then probably yes.

OK, I now checked the call answering when the phone is locked. You still get the exact same 2 boxes on the screen. One would think that they are abit unprotected and you might easily accidently reject the call while your taking the phone from your pocket or something.

Well, since the screen is capacitive, it's gonna need the "staticness" of your finger to accept the tap, so your "pocket" can't accidently reject the call. At least in theory :D

one of the main reason why Nokia is not successful in US is
because of their marketing strategies :(.
even Google Nexus failed miserably in US because operators
hold a big grip on the customers on what they buy.

I wouldnt have bought this phone if it was running Android or iOS (as if :D). Even with Maemo/Meego I probably wouldve left it to the store.

Predict all you want, Symbian is gonna go strong for a good while, easily at least N8s lifespan.

with the rising popularity of android phones and with everyone predicting the demise of symbian, i am having second thought about buying this phone. nokia should concentrate the US market coz when you are succesfull in the US you can be very successfull everywhere. look at iphone and android phones.
