New gen LCD/LED HDTVs support both. I think wave can play HD quality videos on such TVs with DLNA. So HDMI or DLNA doesn't matter as long as you have either.

As well as the spec list in forum-nokia,com did not mention anything about UPnP/DLNA in N8 while my N85 does.

But it seem weird. Why will Nokia remove this feature?
Maybe we should wait someone for conform this?

Mark, 01 Oct 2010Nice overview. Still, some remarks: I think you need to ... moreI just compared hardware specs and since I have no idea about Symbian 3 I just can't give my opinion on that. The processor on wave is better than that on N8 when it comes to speed and graphics. Don't know how the dedicated GPU on N8 would perform against it.

The review on tech radar states that N8's battery lasts for 2 days which is same as the one in wave.

I agree to a certain extent that Samsung support sucks. I have had a tough time with kies, but they're providing updates for firmware and kies on a regular basis,so I hope they continue supporting their flagship BADA phone and platform. BADA is not as bad as it's made out to be. If Samsung supports BADA, then we as users will have wide varieties of OS to choose from. Although it might not become as popular as Andriod or IOS, it definitely has that potential.

No hard feelings, just my opinion.

Gowtham, 01 Oct 2010Can we connect Nokia N8 to a TV other than HDTV and LCD TV? Hey.. The N8 actually support the traditional TV-out method via the 3.5mm audio jack/ video too.. I think it should be the same TV-out as in my N85.. which could support PAL/NTSC TV

Wave noob, 01 Oct 2010Hi guys, Its been just about a month since I bought my b... moreNice overview. Still, some remarks:

I think you need to roll up cpu, gpu, responsiveness etc into one factor. No user ever just uses the GPU or CPU. They use the OS. If the OS is smooth, it is completely irrelevant what is inside.

Battery life is important, not the stated number of mAh, I would express this as number of hours of continuous use

I also think the camera, optics, sensor and xenon flash warrant a bit more than just the plus 1, but that is subjective.

My biggest gripes with the wave are, its made by Samsung, and their support, both in software updates and hardware warranty are inferior to Nokia, and secondly Bada as a platform is nice but has virtually no apps yet.

                            Hi guys,

Its been just about a month since I bought my brand new wave. But I've been following this forum for quite sometime now. I want to carry out an honest comparison between N8 and Wave. Two of my friends are waiting desperately for its release in India and I'm excited to compare my wave with N8.Let me list down certain points which would help a prospective buyer to decide which device to go for.

1>Wave's super amoled definitely scores over N8's amoled screen, but it's 0.2 inches smaller than it's competitor. It's a pain to use QWERTY in portrait mode but works just fine in landscape.I think N8 has an edge over wave here.

2>BADA OS on wave, though in its nascent stage is quite fast and is less susceptible to lags and doesn't freeze often. Sometimes you run outta memory if you are running resource intensive games like shift and asphalt, with some applications running in the background. There aren't many apps in the app store, but it's upto samsung to make it a success and they seem to be serious about it. +1 for Symbian here.

3>No free navigation on Wave. Again +1 for N8

4>Wave has DLNA to somewhat compensate for the HDMI port on N8, I think it's a tie here.Well does N8 support DLNA??

                            5>5Mp v/s 12MP, N8 wins hands down.

6> Wave with 720p video recording @ 30 fps is better as compared to 25fps 720p recording on N8.+1 for wave

7>No video light on N8,+1 for wave.

8>Wave has PAL/NTSC TV out with quality comparable to DTH connection at my home but far from HDMI provided by N8.+1 for N8, but does N8 support traditional TV out?I have no idea.

9>USB on the go is absent in wave so +1 for N8

10>Both wave and N8 have scratch resistant aluminum body and glass, so it's a tie again.

11>Wave supports divx/xvid playback with support for 720p mkv and so does N8. Tie again.

                            12>Mobile AP,video player,5.1 support.... again a tie, but N8 supports dolby and Wave doesn't.

                            13> 1Ghz+512MB RAM on wave > 680MHZ+256MB RAM. +1 for wave

                            14>16GB internal +32 GB memory card on N8 > 2GB internal and 32GB external of wave. +1 for N8.

                            15> battery 1500mAH on wave v/s 1200mAH on N8.+1 for wave.

                            16> 10.2 Mbps HSDPA and class33 gprs on N8 v/s 7.2 Mbps HSDPA and class 10 gprs on wave.+1 for N8

                            17>Price...17k (wave) v/s 25k (N8) in India.

So it basically boils down to affordability. Just ask yourself if it's worth spending 8k for those additional features on N8 and then decide which one to choose. In my opinion, both Wave and N8 are two masterpieces offering some very good features at very competitive prices.

PS: I have given credit where it is due for both, if correct me if I've erred somewhere.Want an honest opinion on my thoughts from users who've played around with both the devices.

It took 6 months for Nokia to realease this phone... They wanted to make sure the phone was perfect... But all the did was to put more pressure on themselves... To actually fail as it seems:
