this is my second N8 phone, the first one had factory fault and was return after i had it for 364 days.. it was replace with the one i have now. which i got in november of last year.it is now acting up. moving slow,an as of today it is freezing up every 5 mins, even wen i am in a call, plus it is reloading every 5 mins. It get very hot when charging,an when in use, it is trying to fry my ear off.i am carrying it into digicel tomorrow.I am wondering if N8 is a good buy,or what is the probability of me getting two N8 with factory fault.I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND N8 TO ANYBODY. I THINK NOKIA OWES ME AN APOLOGY BIG TIME.

You can charge another mobile with this (Nokia N8-00) mobile's battery charge.
Things needed :
1) Nokia CA-157 cable.
2) Nokia CA-100 cable.
Do not charge the Nokia N8 when you charge the other mobile using the steps below as I have not tested (to be on the safer side).
Procedures :
1) Connect the micro USB end of the Nokia CA-157 to the micro USB port of the mobile (connect carefully).
2) Connect the normal USB end (not the charging end) of the Nokia CA-100 (or any USB multi pin cable **) to the USB end of Nokia CA-157.
3) Now connect the charging end (thin PIN shaped) to any compatible mobile and see the display of the mobile that has to be charged !!!.
** when you use multi pin cable, make sure that the other mobile model charging ends do not touch each other to avoid short circuit. Also note that the battery will drain faster since the charge is going all the pins in the multi pin charger.

I gave it in Nokia care. I don't know what they did. Under rare usage (30 min voice call** , 15 min 2G data usage (not downloading, just browsing)** , 10 SMS of 160 characters each**) it gave 2 days backup time at 10% battery charge remaining ***.
Peak usage for voice calls will give you 20 to 24 hours of standby time (at 10% battery charge remaining ***)
** means when network signal is full.
*** as reported by Nokia battery monitor
Under rare usage, the battery charge was 80 to 95% when checked after 12 hours since previous full charge (100%) process. At 24 hours (since last full charge) the battery level was 50 to 60%. When it was nearing 2 days, it was 20 to 30%.
I think nokia battery battery cannot predict phone's standby time less than 15% charge as I always see the charge going down to 4% after seeing the battery level 15% six to eight hours ago.
So it is better to reduce the phone usage when the battery level reaches 20% (when new). Then you monitor twice or thrice every hour and try to put the battery to charge at 10% remaining level.
After your problem gets solved, you buy (I am not promoting in any way, just suggesting you) Nokia battery pack DC-16. It costs 1500 Rupees in India.

You can give it in Nokia care to have factory reset. Then uninstall quickoffice, social, picture editor and other unnecessary apps and see.
After this, C:\ drive (phone main memory) will be 95 to 119 MB free and also delete default wallpapers (that you would see in the gallery just after formatting) if you do not need. Then E:\ drive (mass memory) should be mostly free (just above 14 GB) after uninstalling unnecessary apps.

I also have N9 ever drained till shut down but still can be charged. I Know if the battery drained to often then the battery will be degraded/ cannot hold maximum capacity Charge. at least still can be charged. But mine n8 battery once drained then Disposable. Don't you think the phone something wrong..?

Some lithium ion batteries have a habbit to "die” if depleted to less then 0%. To monitor your battery you can use what SHUDAKAR said or belle extra buttons for less battery info but more functions. Now, that is not normal, of course, but maybe you had bad luck and you bought a battery that had a bad 'cut the power' circuit. All lithium ion have a kind of mecanism that cut's the power when the battery reaches the critical state. Shutting down your device to protect it. Now, new batteries should not be left to run out of fuel before at least 3 full charge discharge processes. After this, i think, will be safe to let it turn of. But, however, it is not recomended to let it die to often, will strain your battery and will shorten it's life.

You will dump your phone full of softwares and videos. And you want to install more and more apps?. Does this make sense?.
