Rajesh, 05 Jun 2010Try using USB OTG, 12.1 mpx photo, 720 video recording, 3.5... moreIf u put these kind of usage in any other high end phone, can they last for one whole day?
U will get the same answer rite?

As i said, u can use "portable charger" u really need to use your phone so intensively.

It will be much better than buying backup phone battery for every phone u have. But i think u won't understand cause u only use one phone rite.

But if i really need a backup battery, i have my portable battery charger which cost me around SGD50 only. Plus it can also charge any other devices which support usb power charge.

U haven't heard of such thing call portable battery charger before have u?
Btw, there are loads of high tech phone (without good camera or xenon flash) out there now where the battery cannot even last for one whole day.

The Nokia N8's ARM11 CPU is not the same as the ARM11 434 and ARM11 600 used in other NOKIA phones!

-= It's newer and faster one + more power efficient! ;)=-

Rajesh, 05 Jun 2010Tom, the reason Nokia has included a fixed inbuilt 1200 mAh... moreMy Samsung Inov8 also using Symbian.
I also charge my phone in every 1 or 2 days a time.
I have been using it for 1 and a half years and still do not need to change the battery.
Why do u need to change your battery in 3 to 4 months times if you charge it like 1 or 2 days once?
          weird...

[deleted post]"I'm also sure they will say that Symbian ^3 is nothing new except that the Symbian ^3 is the same as the old Symbians but with new and improved touch friendly UI and many bug fixes."

yup, thats wat im aiming for... + hardware acceleration... i dont rrly need so much animation effects going on after every click.... and if i changed my mind, i can just install it my own, after all symbian is extermly customizable, and this one is open source too, custom FW ftw..

smith, 05 Jun 2010replace battery after 6 months? are you kidding me? I alway... moreHigher the specs, shorter the battery life. You will get the full performance if your battery is new and as the time passes after approx 150 charges, your battery will tend to get flat faster when you will use the higher specs ( as in N8 ). Your battery will last even 5 years if you use it with care but you will not be able to use N8 in normal way if your battery is even 1 year old...As I said, these specs included with N8 will chew battery and you will need a good battery to use it without any problems throughout a day. Many of us have a habbit of carrying a spare battery but in case of N8 you wont be able to do that...

about the battery life,if you look at the specs sheet again,it says you can play up to 50 hrs of music and up to 7 hrs of video playback and up to 12.30 hrs of talk time on 2g networks.so i think it's clear about the batterylife as a regulare user and if you comparison this info with your habbits of phone usage you can make a good guess about how long you can use the phone with one charge according to your usage

People were also excited about... moreYes, you are right...we as consumers throw our full support to the mobile companies in form of hype we create, the amount of faith we enforce behind them time and time they launch a new product and end up getting a foolish products...every brand have had atleast one HIT in a span of 6 to 12 months and rest of the products have been HIT AND RUN...The problem is we are too faithfull to our beloved brands and the brand owners are more faithfull to their profits...I am not sure if any Brand owner or their staff would even bother to read the posts we have been doing here...they will do what they have to do...and we spend hours and hours praising them and their products and after using the product we spend hours and hours on the site compaining about the product as it did not live up to the hype which was created by ourselves

mj, 05 Jun 2010does is it mean I can't change the battery? No you can't change the battery on your own as it is not USER replaceable.

It has got screws and screw Nokia for that.

People were also excited about it for the hd video recording and many people also claims that it is best. But after its release all hype are gone. When X10 and Galaxy S announce, people are also very excited that they will be extremly fast. But in reality both still lag despite the 1 ghz processor. These hype are usual and never stop.

[deleted post]Tom, the reason Nokia has included a fixed inbuilt 1200 mAh battery in N8 is " THEY WANT TO MAKE N8 AS SLEEK AS POSSIBLE " and to maintain the good battery life the included a low clocked CPU...but here thats not the issue...till here its all fine. But the problem starts when you will use the added facilities...12mpx camera with Xenon Flash and 720 HD recording...USB OTG, huge 3.5" screen ( in comparision to cramped one on 5800 xm ), graphic accelerator, TV out etc. You dont need to be a highly qualified technician to say that these added specs will chew on the battery and drain it in a day if you use any of them even 1 hour a day. Now even it you have to charge the battery in every 2 days ( which I doubt ), in 3 or 4 months the battery power will start detiorating and maybe in 6 months you have to take N8 to the service centre to replace a new battery....And mind you this battery wont be cheap ( my guess is you have to pay about USD 50 for replacement, if at all you are able to do the replacement ). Its here the core of problem lies...its too early for me to make a judgement, but you have to be cautious before leaping into N8. Before E72 was launched E72 gsmarena was highly voted as everyone on the site had 110% hopes and they sweard on E72 to be the best Qwerty device in the world...now E72 is living in dark...all the hype is gone...I am myself using E72 as my 2nd phone after Samsung I8910 HD but must confess its construction is a let down altogether ( though its made of steel ) and price dropped 40% in just 3 months after its launch.
