Even thought the n8 only comes with 680Mhz CPU, it have graphic hardware accelerator--"co-processor" like a graphics card in your PCs to help the main CPU

Awesome phone for $500 USD. now i wouldn't mind paying $700 for N9 if it come with 1Ghz CPU, Symbian 4 and same camera with lense cover :)

I can't believe many negative comments i have read here, wherein fact none of them have tried this smart-phone. The thing is you must know what feature/function you like most in a smartphone. In my case, i like to take pictures/videos on anything that attract my eyes. I think this NOkia 8 would do the job for me. This is not a crap phone, mind you this is going to be a top seller phone!

The manual for the device states:

              Your device has an internal,
              nonremovable, rechargeable battery. Use
              only Nokia approved chargers designated
for this device. You can also use a
compatible USB data cable to charge your
              device.
Do not attempt to remove the battery
from the device. Take the device to the
              nearest authorised service facility for
              replacement of the battery.

Don't forget about awful display - you wont see anything on the day light - it is OLED.

they miss a point to beat iphone 4G-Internal memory! iphone 4G will beef up memory and optical zoom camera. Apple don't follow hype like they won't follow megapixel war.

John, 01 May 2010Ok nokia's problem they have no good phone picked up by a c... moreThat's because in the us the cellular networks trick it's customers in thinking their are getting a great deal by buying a phone on contract instead of buying one that's completely unlocked, which will be cheaper in the long run.

ARM 680 - perceived low spec negated by 3D accelerator, besides Symbian 3 is not as power hungry as the other OSs)
RAM 256 - perceived insufficiency negated but the Writable Paging Request of the (read up for more info) Symbian 3
Fixed Aperture Size - perceived a step back after N86 negated by better sensor
Fixed Battery - perceived as not replaceable, not true as you can replace it once it fails albeit removing a couple of screws
1200 mAh - perceived small capacity negated but improving power efficiency of the CPU, right sized RAM, AMOLED display.
Lacks Optical Zoom - negated by improvements to digital zoom that ensures no pixelation when zoomed
Symbian 3 - perceived as dated negated by perceivers lack of knowledge. Please do yourselfs a favor by reading up on the improvements of the OS under the hood and its overall superiority compared to the others.

Why one puts up with such negations and not have it all - it will be too bulky (optical zoom, bigger battery, camera cover, keyboard) too power hungry (RAM, bigger screen) and not forgetting too expensive (big storage, big RAM, big screen...etc)

N8 is a device that has everything and more, delivered in the most balanced package for the most appealing price. Have fun future N8 comrades.

Ok nokia's problem they have no good phone picked up by a carrier. Only like 1 out of 10 americans would go to store with nokia unlocked phones. They usually go to the offical stores to get the phones they have.

For those who doesnot like capacitive screen

nokia has already made so many resistive phone and nontouch phones, go and select the right one, it is time for nokia to care about capacitive lovers

If a lot of people think a 1Ghz processor and a 1500mAh battery is what the N8 needs, then they're dead wrong.

Symbian^3 doesn't need a 1Ghz processor because it's a simple and user friendly UI. None of those flashy android stuff. And since it has a lower processor it doesn't need a 1500mAh battery. 'Cause lower processors aren't power hungry unlike Samsung phones.

PLUS the screen's AMOLED. Better power consumption.

Just because the numbers are bigger doesn't mean they're better.

Anonymous, 01 May 2010all those features into one single device? blah blah blah ... moreDo you actually think Symbian needs a 1Ghz Snapdragon to function well? Are you mad?

                                      yes indeed. symbian is down.
even Symbian 5th edition doesn't have the coreplayer app. no support even from the most popular media player.
