ARM 680 - perceived low spec negated by 3D accelerator, besides Symbian 3 is not as power hungry as the other OSs)
RAM 256 - perceived insufficiency negated but the Writable Paging Request of the (read up for more info) Symbian 3
Fixed Aperture Size - perceived a step back after N86 negated by better sensor
Fixed Battery - perceived as not replaceable, not true as you can replace it once it fails albeit removing a couple of screws
1200 mAh - perceived small capacity negated but improving power efficiency of the CPU, right sized RAM, AMOLED display.
Lacks Optical Zoom - negated by improvements to digital zoom that ensures no pixelation when zoomed
Symbian 3 - perceived as dated negated by perceivers lack of knowledge. Please do yourselfs a favor by reading up on the improvements of the OS under the hood and its overall superiority compared to the others.
Why one puts up with such negations and not have it all - it will be too bulky (optical zoom, bigger battery, camera cover, keyboard) too power hungry (RAM, bigger screen) and not forgetting too expensive (big storage, big RAM, big screen...etc)
N8 is a device that has everything and more, delivered in the most balanced package for the most appealing price. Have fun future N8 comrades.

Ok nokia's problem they have no good phone picked up by a carrier. Only like 1 out of 10 americans would go to store with nokia unlocked phones. They usually go to the offical stores to get the phones they have.

If a lot of people think a 1Ghz processor and a 1500mAh battery is what the N8 needs, then they're dead wrong.
Symbian^3 doesn't need a 1Ghz processor because it's a simple and user friendly UI. None of those flashy android stuff. And since it has a lower processor it doesn't need a 1500mAh battery. 'Cause lower processors aren't power hungry unlike Samsung phones.
PLUS the screen's AMOLED. Better power consumption.
Just because the numbers are bigger doesn't mean they're better.

Nokia share holders are mad that they always starring at the back of the Iphone. Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo will have to beg for his job while his counterpart Steve Jobs basks in glory. Quote "Last week Nokia delayed Symbian 3, its software platform revamp seen as a first step to make its smartphones competitive again, triggering a sell-off in its shares". End Quote Reuters
LOL welcome back to the game Nokia it's tough old world out there.

In Q3 slick looking Android phones with flashy and modern user interfaces would've been announced. Windows Mobile 7 Series phones would also be announced and WinMo has now upgraded to a slick interface. While symbian is left with an old outdated ui. For gods sake we're in 2010!

Nokia Rocks !!!
No one can beat nokia in comparison to hardware,features,user friendly os and popularity. I am just wandering is this phone using same os like N97? i guess nokia should have introduced linux like n900 on n8 instead of symbian.

[deleted post]So lets look at this statement...
For all those people who think that Nokia is a follower or copier..
Nokia N8 is the 1st phone with :-
1)WiFi n - Wrong others have had it the Wi-Fi n specification has only just been signed off, so it was in draft, there are other phones which had the draft variant built in, it will just need a firmware update to bring it to full spec.
2)HDMI output - Whoopee doo, it's a bloody phone, not a DVD/Video recorder.
3)USB port support. you can connect your memory stick or hard drive directly into the phone - OK, so it'll drain your phones battery in a minute or two & you'll have no phone or HDD/usable memory stick! Whoo Hoo!
4)Dolby Digital surround sound technology. Utterly useless as it's an offence to play music in public without a Public Performance Licence, it's an offence to play it on a train, bus or any other location where it's likely to cause a nuisance or offence to others.
)12MP and 720p both into one phone - Been & done long ago by others and how long is the lens going to last without a cover on it? Answer - Not long. HD video pointless unless you have serious amounts of expensive memory.
6)5 band 3.5G support - Maybe unique, so what?
7)Aluminium Uni body - Seriously easy to damage & seriously expensive to replace, it's also a good conductor of electricity, so it could get charged statically & zap the electronics inside. Result one dead phone...
Nokia aren't smart, in fact they're rather dumb because they've not listened one jot to their customers who are not in the least bit satisfied with their bug ridden & puerile previous efforts.
~~~~~~~
Well doh, how many phone producer has put all those features into one single device (and speaking of android phone)? None. And it's apparently gonna be nokia, who will take the chance 1st. I'm no nokia fanboy, infact i used to get along with samsung, but ur manner is quite ridiculous and yes, i think it's u who are dumb. For the sake of your dumbness, no one is required nor forced to play his/her gadget in public just because he/she has dolby surround enabled device. Ever heard place called home or something like indoor? But if you're shelterless bummer, my condolences to you.
