Ya...I was a blind Nokia lover and used minimum 13 Nokia(All were Symbian). Bt my last 3 phones were Android, sad to say I felt beter in Android than Symbian. I have used Xperia X10 mini & mini pro, Galaxy mini. And right now using Xperia X10i. And damn sure its 10 times better thn N8. 1st thing Symbian is slower thn Android. My X10i got 1GHz speed and N8 got 600+
And gaming xperience is awesm in android thn Symbian. I got a 4" capacitive display in 480 X 854 resulotion, other hand N8 got 3.5".And a lot of lacking like low RAM in N8. Jst 1 thing better thn X10i is 12MP camera in N8 and 16GB built in memory. I was going to buy N8, bt sm frnds & N8 users told me nt to buy tht, its jst sucks according to their opinion.Thn I bought this Xperia X10i. Even I saw some N8 owner offering me xchange with their brand new N8!! So wht does it prove?Even I've heard a N8 user told "Dnt throw ur money in water by purchasing N8"
So according to price and features my X10i is better thn N8.

Suhanoo, 23 Oct 2011Thank you for your approval. I am greatful that you liked m... moreU r right. I used a N73 previously n was fade up with "MEMORY FULL CLOSE SOME APPLICATION".
When I bought N8, One thing I wished not to see that MSG again in my N8. BUT N8's RAM is such low, that in normal standby mode with some background apps running it shows 140 Mb used leaving 90 MB for others.
I used OPERA MOBILE & tried to open around 10 tabs in it & the result is as it crossed its limit, it simply closed Opera Mobile automatically. So i Just got a sneek-peek I SHOULD NT DRAG my N8 other wise I may get the same msg "MEMORYFULL".
I love N8 but angry on NOKIA for giving such a redundant RAM to this GREATest symbian phone of all times.
    Keep N8ing...

Rooting in Android allows the user to have "root" access to the operating system. This is necessary if you want to be able to perform certain tasks, like backing up your applications and installing certain apps from the market like Adblocker.

Once you've read and understood the instructions the whole process of rooting will take literally 30 seconds to complete.

        All the best.

AnonD-616, 22 Oct 2011hey men you rocks :-) . great reviews , but you forget some... moreThank you for your approval. I am greatful that you liked my review, it was worth the time spend. Now, back to your questions. I don't know what "rooting" is in Android. I am not a computer geek. But I consider myself as moderately advance level user. I know at least those things which I need to know to smoothly explore and grab out as much as possible from my gadgets. I played NFS Shift, Golf 2011 HD, Angry Birds, Galaxy On Fire etc in N8, played Angry Birds, Angry Birds Season in S2. To tell you the truth, I didn't like the concept of Angry Birds. It is a "touch centric" game, not a "gyro-centric" game like Galaxy On Fire. I stopped playing my half way done NFS Shift after I started playing Galaxy On Fire. The concepts of Nokia games are better than Android's (my opinion). But I heard that "creed" is one game in Android that you'll fall in love to (never had the chance to play though). Symbian is known for it's multitasking from late 90's. Android became a semi-multitasker from 2.2 (Froyo) & full multitasker from 2.3 (Gingerbread). Having a powerful processor & great amount of RAM does have its benefits as it helps S2 to run smoothly no matter how much you put into it. My S2 shows 837MB of RAM & uses around 450MB of RAM used from the above (by the widgets & OS). When I run some heavy applications (mozilla, Gallery - full of pics & videos in 32GB SDcard, Polaris Office, Google Maps, Vlingo, Market etc) simultaneously, my S2 doesn't show any sign of being tired (except for the battery, I guess). But I can assure you that N8 will not run a lot of applications while running GMaps only. To get the performance from N8, you'll need to always close heavy applications from your Task Manager. Though multitasker, N8's greatest drawback is it's RAM. I think it's processor is fast enough for all the trouble it takes, but the RAM killed everything appealing in N8. By no means N8 is a heavy multitasker. I don't use VOIP as it needs unlimited internet connection (which I don't have), so I can't tell you about that. But one thing I can say, in N8, the sound from the other end in voice calls are louder than in S2, so is the same in loud speaker (N8's ringer is louder & could make me wake up from sleep, but S2's can't). I hope these will help with your queries. Please feel free if I failed make you understand any point(s).
          Take care.

Suhanoo, 23 Oct 2011Thank you for the compliment. I would also like to add a fe... more @ Suhanoo.

According to page 112 of the user manual you can connect the SGS2 to a PC in mass storage mode.

"In Idle mode, open the application list and select Settings
→ Wireless and network → USB utilities → Connect
            storage to PC.
3 Select OK to confirm (if necessary).
4 Using a PC data cable, connect the multifunction jack on
            your device to a PC.
5 When connected, select Connect USB storage.
6 Select OK to confirm (if necessary).
7 Open the folder to view files.
8 Copy files from the PC to the memory card.
9 When you are finished, select Disconnect storage from
            PC."

            All the best.

i may add to my last post, about samsung and HTC. have a look at the forums, the users are ALWAYS asking "when will gingerspread b available for my HTC, when will Rice Scream Sandwich be available for my samsung". See, they dont want to fix the problems, they bwant the newest and they want useless apps. Even when the early version of HTC Desire Z and HD had serious problems in 2.2, the android fans didnt care, they where too busy with the rumors of Gingerspread.

this is the android user mentality. More regular users who are not so technical often have bad meetings with android, my sister sold both her HTC and LG, they are not good enough for regular users. This is where we have to admit that iphone beats both android and symbian, iphone is really the best for most non-tech ppl who want advanced units.

Suhanoo, 23 Oct 2011This is the difference between Nokia Fanboys & Android ... morei had android for 11 months and hate it more all the time. But Androids shortcomings doesnt make N8 a good fone. N900 has till now been the only good Nokia, and finally now N9 is available, and thats what im buying as soon as the 64GB version is in stock here again.

Anyway, lets not blame Android for shortcomings found on some Samsung (and HTC). AS you mention with the SGS2 and mass storage, thats not a problem for android but for samsung. And the lagging and poor multitasking on HTC is caused by HTC Sense, and not by Android. Sony Ericsson Android fones actually work quite well.

Androids native problem is that its too rough and unpolished, no manufacturer has tried to adress the bugs and problems, they are too busy shoveling out new versions and new functionality, this way Android will never be completed, it will always stay in Beta.

This is the difference between Nokia Fanboys & Android fanboys. You'll remember I posted a comparison on S2 & N8 here. You'll note that I pulled out both pros & cons of both the phones. Nokia page still have it. And people are even thanking me for putting an unbiased review (where N8 came lower than S2 most of the time). I put the same review in S2 page & guess what, it is not there anymore. Maybe they have reported it & made it delete as I said cons about S2. I feel sorry for them. Nokia lovers are accepting the facts, but Android lovers are arogant and they even don't wanna hear anything bad about their android (maybe because they know Android can never beat Symbian). Seriously, Androids are small PDAs with calling facilities, but they can never ever become a phone. Believe me, after this post a few Android fanboys will start arguing to prove some stupidity.
                    Take care.

AnonD-27294, 22 Oct 2011hi, suhanoo u have given a unbiased comparision. Great job.... moreThank you for the compliment. I would also like to add a few more lines. People say that S2 can play any file formats for video, but it can't. I gave it .dat file, but it couldn't play. It also failed to play some other file format, I don't remember which one. One other thing, I can't connect my S2 with the PC in Mass Storage mode (it doesn't have any). But maybe I'll need to download third party software for that. But that is where my problem lies. Why would I need to download simple basic softwares? Then why do Android fanboys keep on complaining about N9's shortcomings? Please Android fanboys, answer.
                      Take care.
