I'll try and explain as best as I can. The purple tint only manifests itself when the screen is at or close to minimum brightness. So grays and blacks appear as shades of purple. This is caused by incorrect coding in the drivers that control the phones display. Now, these drivers are stored within a chip attached to the display and cannot be overwritten with a software update. This is why the whole screen needs to be replaced to solve the issue.
What Nokia have done with the Anna update is to increase the phones default brightness level in the clock screensaver, thereby giving the impression that the purple tint has been fixed. They may have also increased the default brightness level in other areas as well to lessen the effect of the purple tint to make it less noticeable.

pls some one help me. My N8 is automitacly Restart & camera also not working. Whn i open camera its showing ERROR. I spent too much money for Repair But still same problem.pls tell me how can i update...?Thanks

Makkhan Singh, 24 Aug 2011i compared this n8 to samsung wave s8500..and samsung wave... morethe only good on s8500 is only UI and screen, but its lack of application and HD games... Bada OS is lack of support...
N8 is the best excellent camera,excellent GPU, big internal memory 16GB, USB OTG... Dont compare s8500 beacuse Nokia N8 still the best Multimedia Smartphone

i am using nokia n8 it is ultimate handset i had update to anna working very well but i want to know how to get back factory setting symbian3 again. actually i like the browser of symbian3 more than with anna update. pls reply soon i want to get back nokia symbian3 again thanks in advance...enjoy n8

Going by the test image, the purple tint is still there after the anna update although not quite as bad.

Why no body is talking about camera update on n8? Need discussions on camera update.I have updated my n8 to beta version of camera update.I feel image and video quality was better before update.only the u i has improvements.
