Ray Hipkiss, 21 Apr 2011 For anybody who has a defective AMOLED screen ( half purpl... moreOur buddy, buxz777 over at nokiausers.net just got his N8 back after Nokia promised him that the new defect free screens are now in stock and guess what, they replaced his screen and the purple defect is still on and he now have dust underneath the screen. Nokia messed up again and there's still no proper solution to the problem. What Nokia said as defect free screens still got the defect. This is unacceptable.

For those who don't know buxz777, he's the first guy who brought this issue to Nokia and he's the one who worked hard to get those affected by this purple screen defect heard. His effort got Nokia to admit the purple screen defect but sadly, his problem still remains unsolved. His brand new N8 still have the purple screen defect and he now have dust particles underneath his screen.

To those waiting for the defect free screens to arrive, keep waiting. There's still no solution to this purplegate fiasco.

                      Be realistic guys !

A phone cannot satisfy everybody,if you all will understand the Chinese proverb 'one type of rice but it feeds hundred types of person'

For the price one pay for the N8, it is the best so far.Of course I have been using N8 mostly and maybe it maybe bit unfair to comment on phones I have not used, but otherthan those 'techno geeks' who really seek-out the 'fine prints' in any phone, most-of-us would just want a phone that serve us well as a handphone should.

I cannot be bothered if my phone's CPU is only 600 whereas the competitor's is 1 Gz.
I cannot differentiate (at least at the HP),the difference between 5 MP,8 MP or 12 MP. Though those pictures taken by the VGA camera of phones about 10 years ago are obviously lousy. That is the only difference I can tell straight-away. 3 Mp camera's picture bit not so good too. That is the most I can tell. So I did not buy my Nokia N8 for the 12 MP camera

What I really want (that applies to the majority too) is a HP

                      1. That i do not need to charge twice a day as my N900
(though i still keep it because i like her speed
and she is truly multitasking, no lapse between
                      opening of program)

                      2. That has a relatively large screen but at the same time can fit into the trouser's pocket comfortably.

                      3. A HP that is relatively light. N8 at about 130g is just nice, even N900 at about 180g is not too bad.

                      4. Good typing facily with a keyboard is actually a must for most of us but I will have to compromize on this aspect for N8,no choice because after consideration, I think I can do most of the other typing work at the HP that has a keyboard and at N8 is just simple sms & some simple web address only, so still acceptable. Nokia E7 is actually good substitute if not because it looks bulky.

                      5. Stable OS is very important for many people who actually need the HP to make them contactable all time and not using the HP as an experimenting tool for software installation, updates, cracked, applicants etc. Nokia is well known for taht so far, and I have used many years of Nokia phone to know it.
Android is unstable and really drain the battery on a HKV phone that i am using now.
I have used window mobile before few times (Treo 750, HTC,Excel etc),quite stable, but erratic, slow.
Palm is just as good as Symbian, but it is almost 'gone' now, my last palm phone is palm centro, good & stable
BB i ahve used too recently, 9300, good and stable too but its hardware is more expensive than Symbian'phone for similar function
My son is using Iphone4, fast stable, response time very good; respond very well to fingers' movement of operator but hardware again is much more expensive & restrictive. A million applicants in the 'market' would not be of much use to many who only needs few applicants software beside those supplied on the HP.

How many of us bother about the HDMI and USB-OTG features of N8 or for the matter on any other HP ?
I know how to use these 2 features but they are hardly needed at all. The USB-OTG i have tried before, it just 'hang my N8' Nokia phone, so instead of saving time for me, it cause me to waste more time!

Perhaps few concrete suggestions for N8 would be more appropriate.
A reset button on N8 would be very useful (unless I have miss one)since it does not have detachable battery.
A better virtual keyboard for N8 is more appropriate for simple use at sms.

Guys, it's amazing to see nokia n8 on top of total hit list and it's still no1 in daily hits list.. Even though it is released 6 months back.. Clearly nokia n8 rocks.

Right ive been waiting for E7 but then there is no card slot/no auto focus.E7 has qwerty keypad for real life text input.N8 has auto focus and xenon flash.

I have been round and round and even thought of C7.I am now fully made up my mind i am getting N8 because i need autofocus for document scanning. This sounds like a post that many folk have been through going round and round but that xenon flash with 12MP and auto focus wins on the day.

I am getting it on tuesday all been well ,i have had symbian since 7650 days and i know its quirks etc but still love it.I know its suppossed to be killed off but no-one can predict the future, windows may flop and they go back to symbian with fresh overhaul.

OK to be honest i still trust and respect Nokias hardware which is always tops and Nokia know how to make a camera.I might see if today the shops are open its eater Sunday here in UK.Yippeee ive made up my mind.

I have the N8 for the past 1 week and still loving it, only hitch is on music player, previous playes on N series have a search option in player but none in the N8 though the interface is awesome, xpcting this to be fixed with the new 'anna' update. browser is also crazy and wont open some pages but this is asuredly fixed in 'anna' available soon. best choice, N8
