nokia repeats the hanging n software complaint with this phone also....i am saying this rm my own exprince..be carefull to loose ur valuable money...again repeats nokia is having the same hanging n software complaint on this huge phone too....i think its high time to leave the base of nokia frm india..nokia care is fed up o this huge sotware n hanging complaints..wit all phones...pls take this advice seriously.......

Hi guys...
it is a great phone with stupid defect...purple screen.
nokia care centre replaced my screen 2day but still same issue.. purple screen ...
i request them 2 revert back my PR1.1 to PR1.0..
bt they said unable to do so...
i having this dam issue after i upgrade the SW...
i think they have replaced defect unit with defect 1...
nokia plz open your eyes... care 4 ur customers.. don simply make so many defect units juz 4 ur profit...

Did you guys here about the N8 successor? Its going to have a 4" 960x540 qHD AMOLED display CBD tech, a 1ghz processor(probably dual-core)the same 12mp camera, but with True Zoom(acdvanced AF), 1GB ram, and stereo speakers...Cant wait!
But whats more exciting, is that it will arrive with the revamped Symbian 3, with Android App support! (Android supports Qt)

this is a good phone... moreMany people are asking this question. and let me clarify this once and for all.
this phone uese xenon flash and xenon is a professional photographic flash whereas the flash that turns on when taking videos is called as LED flash.
LED flash can be kept on for a long time and it wont consume much power oh and it is a good flash for videography. but the worst flash for photography since it stays longer for taking pictures.
xenon flash consumes a considerable amount of power but it comes only for fraction of a second. that is suitable for photos.
you must have seen that during some light conditions when its bright, LED flash goes on and the picture comes dark. really dark i mean. thats the reason why its fit only for videography. xenon flash gives the correct brightness and sharpness rather like LED that will turn the whole picture dark when taking photos.
the difference?
LED stays longer and xenon stays shorter thats suitable for photos and it wont keep itself on like LED.
maybe nokia must have provided LED flash as well just in case like in SE Satio right?

how the flash is on during capturing the video as i try alot bt dont get it when i make the video in the night that video is recorded without flash
can anybody tell me what should i do

They will tell you to take your N8 with the purple screen defect to Nokia Care only to get your unit replaced with another defective unit. That indicates that the issue is widespread and not a few defective units as you suggest.
You're the one getting tired here for seeing your favorite brand exposed for its defective devices. I like Nokia but they messed up. We can blame Samsuck for the defective screens but Nokia should do more. Afterall, the N8 is a Nokia phone and not Samsung's.

Nokia should do more addressing this issue but they seem to be too busy trying to release 40 phones this year. There's still no solid answer from Nokia.

Nokia really doesnt need meego they only need to support maemo and given that maemo can play webOS games and apps they could have just partnered with HP or just buy rights from them. Symbian 3 has a lot under the same roof as opposed to maemo and honestly it only needs a UI refresh and absolutely nothing else coz its complete, it has HD games and apps were ever increasin before nokia abandoned it. Maemo and symbian together would have been unbeatable

When I bought my N8 a month ago the first problem I faced was when it shut down and never rebooted, I sent it to the Nokia Care here in the Middle East. It was fixed the only problem was that it seems that the unit speed is not good (there are occassional lag) in application switching. Was trying to find some tweaks to somehow increase the speed then I found out about SPB SHELL, I installed it and the unit seems to run fluidly just like the other phone. I have no problem of issues or whatsoever with lags during application switching and the good thing is that, the SPB shell does not eat up a lot of battery, I still can manage to use the N8 for a day and 1 half with heavy use of wi-fi, listening ot music and calling. Why don't you try it... it might solve some of your lag issues.

sweet guys, 05 Apr 2011The Actual Camera Pixel only 9,But in the specification 12Mp ....The default is 9mp, but you can easily manually change it to 12mp. Use pinch to zoom out to change it from 12 to 9 quickly.
