All you Nokia N8 an Symbian 3 phone holders download the Sleeper Screen its a Superb download to use,an a super Screen Saver instead of using the Big Clock,9 different screens to choose from an it does not drain the battery out at all,an when charging it displays a battery on the screen with circles going round,would definetly recommend this to get downloaded

Put the screen on maximum brightness and live with it and forget about the defect? Speak for yourself. That is not a proper solution. Nokia should do better handling this purplegate fiasco.

I bought my nokia N8 here in the Middle East, aside from the first problem I have had which it shuts down and never reboots again, I do not have any problems with the screen, in fact after Nokia Care fixed the problem and i upgraded my firmware in PR 1.2 the fone is working very fine. Was planning to sell it before but I'm glad I did not... it would be a great loss..

And guys play with ur N8s n symbian... Manu of u complained of camera ui... install camera pro best cam software with 11x zoom n video cont autofocus and u get all settings with just 1 click

see this with a bit knowledge how u can make ur n8 look better than any android or iphone....all those who complain about ui and not being user friendly r noobs... u gotta know to play with symbian n u shall be amazed

Best phone by far:
1) Full HDMI output to HD-TV with Wii or PS3 remote capabilities.
2) Play virtually any movie to HD apart from recoring it.
3) DVB-H mobile TV (requires spesific headset) - Brilliant (I can watch sport where ever i am)
4) FM transmitter - play playlist at any party.
5) Fast UI for every thing and orientation both portrait and landscape in the applications.
6) Great games - most for free or cheap.
7) better WiFi than may laptop.
8) Lots of disk space.
9) Excellent GPS and GPS enabled sports applications.
10) best battery life (needed for all above)
11) Avoids the green envy face from Samsung and iPhone users when I explain, "It's a Nokia, it should not be able to do this, or that, or so quick, but I must have a factory defect because everything you can do, I can do better!" (or at all).

I like: I'm from India. I bought this phone Today! This is awesome. No hang issue, no apps running issue, I just load few games - it's awesome again! Camera is too good. Battery life too good. Sound marvels, slim and screen unscratchable is turn me on! Black skin with soft touch and much more.
I don't like: I'm worried about battery bcz I didn't find any.. I think it's inbuilt. Application needs Symbian approval I just can't run direct sisx file. No Infrared - Now how do I transfer my old ph. details?(my old ph bluetooth not working. Hell Sony)
Over all ratings. - 9 out of 10 :)

Nokia N8 is avery good but it accessories are very scares esperciall the touchscreen,please we need more touchscreen in the market to repaire our spoil onces

hiii....guys i just wanted u to inform u that i had the purple screen issue and it is now solved by the nokia care.....they replaced my screen and the prob. Was solved so just go to nokia care....i had it done in india...gujarat to be specific...what i did was just downloaded the test image that one of our friend had kept the link ...thanks 4 the test image and showed it to the nokia care personel ...ane he accepted the prob. And changed my screen...

AnonD-2562, 01 Apr 2011can anyone tell me when the third defect free (hopefully) b... moreDon't know anything about defects or batches, I got mine on the first day commercially available (a finnish pre-orderer) and I still wouldn't trade my N8 for any other phone out there.
I usually get a new phone every two years and 100% certain my next one will be Nokia as well :) Worth every cent for me.

Well, Nokia N8 is a good phone but I have observed that probably a perticular unit of output of the phones from the factory are defective. They hang while in use and they simply refused to work or even shut down; this can be very annoying. I implore NOKIA Company to ameliorate this deffects and trace the source of the defective units so as to recall them to the factory. this would ensure more patronage from the users.

dont look for blue/purple. look for black.. both colours mean defect..
