People buy phones unaware of the problems and defects. Had they knew about the purple screen defect then they would have surely picked a perfect unit. Right now there's a lot of confusion going on at Nokia. The replacement handsets they send still have defects.
The overheating motherboard/restarting problems were from the first batch. There are some with proximity sensor problems but the most current and widespread problem is the purple screen.
What you perceive as negative/bashing comments serves as a warning to those thinking about buying an N8. We do not want them to buy a defective unit and save them from frustration and hassle. Fanboys think we are bashing but we are not. If we remained silent about the issue then no progress will be made. Because of our noise, we were able to make Nokia acknowledge the purple screen defect. However, AMOLED screens are in short supply and Nokia is currently short of the defect- free screens. That is why some of us have received replacement phones with the purple defect still.
Fanboys think we are bashing but we are here to serve prospective buyers about the pros and cons of the device and save them from getting a defective unit.

The N8 can compete with Androids an iOS and can even beat them. Yes a lot of devices have display problem but it is really unnoticeable except you dim the display to its minimum. People who are having this problem dont have to worry. HTC devices also had the same problem in the past and were fixed via update. So no need to panic. TO TEMPORARILY GET RID OF THIS PROBLEM you can use N8 Mods pack 4.0. It contains around 30 mods. The mod 19 (light sensor mod), if installed can help you get rid of the purple tint.
The N8 MODS 4.0 increases the speed and general performance. There is also Camera quality improvement and many others. Installation is easy and does not harm the device. Dark Energy, 16 Mar 2011the purple is visible everywhere where certain gray gradien... moretalk facts and not nonsense... i have posted a fact that check with avatar game the blue shud get purplish with serious issue... i have each n every game that has been developed for n8... if u want i can mail u each n every... i look into issues many times before complementing or bashing n for videos i have the van buuren party at dubai which is full of blue n black n grey what not colors so stop teaching me atleast

Tired of this headache ! Have to submit it again and ve to wait ,already changed 3 times ! I dnt trust nokia anymore !

To all those people whining about AMOLED problem, why don't you bring your phones to a Nokia Care center for screen replacement. It will solve your all your problems.
