    why win7???
NOKIA CEO is totally nuts...he is doing his business decision like the way how he is in Las Vegas. i hope he can just stop gambling and go straightly for ANDROID.

ANDROID is free and available which he can get easily and he just ignore the fact that ANDROID the big brother "for now" at least and go for the laggy windows phone...haizzz...another business failure decision by nokia...R.I.P nokia....

[deleted post]I can't believe the worlds largest phone company does not have any phones to show at MWC 2011,that is some bad leader ship, Nokia should be able to make symbian, android and wp7 under one roof like other companies, example HTC or LG. I'm vex.

AnonD-1124, 15 Feb 2011First of all, like i've said a million times before, nokia ... moreso what does ds mean to u?

        http://conversations.nokia.com/2011/02/11/open-letter-from-ceo-stephen-elop-nokia-and-ceo-steve-ballmer-microsoft/

"Nokia will adopt Windows Phone as its primary smartphone strategy, innovating on top of the platform in areas such as imaging, where Nokia is a market leader."

so u mentioned "universal ecosystem" - afaik, universal means ALL. that would mean, iOSs, android's and other ecosystems out there in one place. u see, micosoft's marketplace and current ovi from nokia are not equal to universe, i.e. all existing platforms. if there would be a marketplace for a "universal ecosystem", i think Intel's AppUp is more appropriate and offers somewhat and invites every entity to join in and distribute their apps in one ecosystem - meaning "universal"

i think u overlooked, ovi. the latter is an ecosystem made by nokia (at their best(?)) which supposedly introduced by nokia to compete with apple's solid ecosystem. unfortunately ovi services, features, UI, and most notably UX wise, were mostly half baked. thus, d not so supportive uptake from developers. not to discredit that they have manage to capture millions of downloads per day, but current symbianOS apps are more vulnerable to piracy.

dey cud hope as high as dey want from d recent merger. but pissing off loyal customers means something. u get wat u give! simple, loyalists get disappointed, the more likely they are to jump ship. dont expect an unsatisfied customer to continue ordering cheeseburgers when later after taking a bite the customer found no cheese at all!

xbox is not for everybody. i love my playstation gadgets. elop seem to under estimate millions of symbian users and looks like is willing to shift from a very immature OS vs a powerful OS with a dated UI and acceptable UX. symbian - needs an UI and UX overhaul. if dey cud deliver ds in time, i dont see any reason for symbian to be unsustainable for nokia. Qt is d key i think.

PC OS and mobile OS may be somewhat d same, but its not. im counting on meego too.

"Windows phone is guaranteed to take over the mobile world if microsoft market it properly."

i dont think so. with multiple OEM making WP7, miniscule sales when compared against Q4 2010 turnover, im skeptical! unless nokia makes it own mobile optimized windows phone based edition exclusive to them!

        good luck with ur endeavors

for symbian fans, u may contact nokia's board of directors here:

          http://www.nokia.com/about-nokia/corporate-governance/contact-us/contact-the-board

about the OMG - big bomb NokiaSoft alliance last black friday. now writing my concern about their decision in ditching symbian, meego and somewhat slowly abandoning of Qt tactics manuscript written by Elopacalypse - Steve (OH my another, steve)

symbian fans, u may also want to read some of nokia's shareholders' take and course of action to the soon BIG debacle nokia has committed into agreement with MSFT:

Anonymous, 15 Feb 2011maybe nokia is not worried in loosing millions of symbian l... moreFirst of all, like i've said a million times before, nokia is not adopting wp7 sa their primary phone os. They are entering a partnership to create a universal ecosystem. Do you have any idea of the meaning of the word ecosystem. An iphone user, his ipod and macbook. Thats an eco system. Its not just the os. Nokia couldn't possibly do this with symbian or meego.

Windows phone hopes to become dominant in the mobile world because of the pc relation. Microsoft would make it built around syncronization with pc so much so windows users would find it irresistible. They would make it xbox friendly so much so xbox users would consider it a necessity. Can nokia do that with symbian?

Windows phone is guaranteed to take over the mobile world if microsoft market it properly.

n8 will still rock bcoz still 3 main power features r missing in all other brand this year hdmi,12mp,usb-otg.
so guyzz don't worry symbian is best it doesn't matter about updates bcoz n8 is complete handset without updates also bcoz other features can't be ignored by few updates...

maybe nokia is not worried in loosing millions of symbian loyalists come the planned transition to WP7, because someONE(?) has given them billions of $$$ in advance to cover nokia's brand damage and stock depreciation. somethin's really fishy about this partnership. just imagine, y not just add WP7 to symbian, meego and at the same time, give QT the same attention and even make it work for WP7?! would that make millions of symbian accustomed customers (including me) to continue buying handsets from nokia? answer - YES! that would probably put a not so happy face to steve b, but at least you made more happy faces! i know partnering with MSFT is a business decision, but i guess showing concern, in little form will do =( from a known brand like nokia to long time customers and developers are much more worthy, imo. many have spoken, the word trust is significantly diminishing exorbitantly. money makes the world turn really. unfortunately, my most respected brand recently made a 180 degree spin and suddenly turned its back to amuse someONE else. millions were dismayed and felt betrayed. meanwhile, a bunch of green robots came, why don't u try us? we are more "open"

                      PS
nevertheless, i dont discount the fact that perhaps, currently employed symbian workforce arent doin their jobs 100%.. if u are somewhat guilty, please try to stop the burning platform to continue. it's never too late. u have us, supporters of that platform. otherwise, business decisions like this, are inevitable. i hope heavy rains come soon, and pray those rains will come from u guys, symbian workforce at helsinki!

I know it is valentine's day but, i was wondering why nokia couldn't continue to develop symbian as favour for their fans into something really awesome and entertaining, esp series 40 and their qwerty phones. MeeGo and WP7 are great but it would still be good to keep symbian. Because getting rid of symbian and not developing MeeGo would cause uproar. They need to listen to the consumers!!
