Rajesh, 27 Jan 2011Thanks friend. But can you tell me what do you use USB OTG ... moreHello Rajesh,
I have used USb on the go just once, to copy some files from a flashdrive to the phone, it´s a nice add on, but certainly not the feature I use the most.
Videos, I have tried a few with no problems at all, this is the first time I use a phone to watch movies/ concerts. But so far the highest res movie I have on the phone is 704 X 416 not much, and it plays really smooth.
    I haven´t tried N900 but I heard it´s a one of a kind handset, unfortunatelly I haven´t seen one on sale where I live.
About the N8 I think it´s one of the best phones in terms of value for money, and about the dual core and 1 g ram of other phones, what matters most is that the phone gives you good user experience, and so far I can´t imagine n8 being faster although it´s just 680.
There are no perfect phones but I think N8 is one of the best buys possible!

BTW, what is the initial charging time for this phone? I might get this unit within this week or next week. That's why I'm doing some research about this unit.

Mauritango, 27 Jan 2011Hi Rajesh, let me see if can calrify some of your questions... moreThanks friend. But can you tell me what do you use USB OTG for? Do you feel these feature is serving you any better practically than any other phone in market w/0 this feature.

I tried to play a HD 1280 x 544 res movie but N8 failed. But it played a 654 x 288 DVD movie without much lag. ( It was not so smooth though ).

But when I tried to play the same HD video on Sony ericsson X10 in Sony Ericsson showroom it played but with a bit of a lag. So atlease some use of having Snap Dragon 1 Ghz processor.

I tried N8 for about 30 to 40 minutes and would say its a good handset with plenty features but its not a ultimate winner as many have praised it to extremes.

If you have used Nokia N900 you will immediately say its hard to give away the ergonomics and features of N900 for Nokia N8.

But I am eagerly waiting to see if E7 could be any better but not sure if Full focus 8 mpix camera would do E7 any justice. I dont understand why Nokia finds it hard to give a complete handset. Auto focus camera on E72 but a new E7 just with fixed focus.

Nokia's strategy of cutting corners have brought down the company but still Nokia has not given up its practice.

                      God help Nokia.

Fact: Read all the reviews and they all bar-none confirm the N8 has the best hardware - Camera and HD video quality.

Call quality is excellent. I have had the phone 2 months with no issues. For me it just works. I paid 300 pounds for a grey/black sim free on ebay. Compare that to the Iphone 4. 500-600 pounds sim free. problems with signal quality and an ok camera. So what if iphone has better apps - most apps are absolute rubbish anyway! For the price of the iphone it should have the best of everything and that it does not! Nokia have done well with the N8. It is not perfect but it will improve significantly with PR1.1 and PR2.0 updates which should be released soon!!

There are several flash/thumbdrives that are not compatible with the phone. The phone displays an error when it cannot read the flash/thumbdrives.

Rajesh, 27 Jan 2011Hi N8 friends, I am confused and need you all to help me so... moreHi Rajesh, let me see if can calrify some of your questions. The Hdmi cable provided is an adaptor, not the cable itself, it´s to connect the HDMI cable (of your tv) to the usb jack on the phone.

                                      About the 1080p movies I haven´t tried yet so I donn´t know.

About the resolution I guess it has to do with compatibility issues with previous symbian devices (just gessing), I also read that it´s a resolution that fits better media content (I´m not sure). Anyway I can garantee that you won´t notice the diference between a higher resolution screen. The screen is gorgeous by the way and very sensitive, it´s true that samsung introduced the technology a few years ago, but Nokia´s treatment of the screen is excellent.

I just got my n8 two weeks ago, but I did a lot of research before buying it, and let me tell you that it´s an amazing phone, it´s giving me more than what I expected. No lagas, no hangs, excellent performance.
Great gaming experience (I didn´t buy the phone for games, but it turned out that I´m having a great time playing games on the phone), and many of these great games are free!
About the real shortcommings of the n8 (web browser, social integration, etc) in this forum or other sites you will have options (apps) to improve your phone (easily and for free).
What´s also great it´s that with nokia in charge of Symbian you know that your phone will be updated for a long time, even with a new UI (formely known as symbian 4). I think it´s the only phone right now that won´t be outdated in the near future, cause when you buy an android, you´ll never know what update policy X brand will have for your device.

To sum up, I relly recommend this phone!
