I really think they did a fantastic job on the phone but se must come to the party with better os support and updates. They really poor there. The x10 sucks battery like an electrolux. Nice phone though. The htc phones i like but the support here by leaf is pathetic. Dont even go there. The iphone i'd break very quickly and it wont pick up signal...nevermind the antennagate issue and glassgate issue!! BB's are for sheep. I'm a wolf so we dont go together!lol...BTW, do you listen to lots of music? If yes, you going to love this phone...trust me. It integrates into your life perfectly. I love it!

By the way the n8 was never meant to beat the iphone and the like. It was the device that launched ^3. That was the main aim and hence the delay in releasing it. The platform works best with qt apps and cosidering that the meego os can run the very same apps, it is a programmers dream cos now its one app for multiple phones. Unlike before were there was fragmentation due to so many types of symbian and hence the very same app had to be rewritten 3 times over. The phone was to release the new os with qt. The hidden agenda was to buy them time so great hardware was included to keep the masses happy for now and to instill some faith in the company. The new browser will be released and the browser is said to be way faster than what it is now with more built in features too. If you are too much in a haste, then go with what pleases you. I'm happy with my n8 and wont waste my time convincing you to get one. Enjoy your choice and live with it and remember, regrets come too late!

From last one week I am facing a peculiar problem.
I am using “Fring” in my N8 for last two months without any problem. Basically I use it for internet phone call through sip account (in my case it is “Jumblo”). Everything was fine.
Problem has been started when I change current sip account Jumblo and subscribed another Jumblo account. After that while calling neither other side not me can here the voice. But call is going and I can here the ring. I was thinking it may be problem of that particular jumblo account. So, I return to my previous jumblo account. With my great surprise I found the problem is still there. I have tried both Jumblo account from my notebook as well as through my N8 (help of Nimbuzz), they are working well.
I have uninstalled-reinstalled fring several times but that also not solve the problem. So, I have formatted phone mass memory, micro SD memory card (2GB) and reinstall phone software through OVI suit. Now practically nothing is there which I can do by my knowledge.
Even I have tried with new fring account, but same result. My fring version is 4.04 (13). Fring test call audio and video both are working.
Please help me with this problem.

Mac, 15 Jan 2011My friend at nashua mobile just offered me another n8 for R... moredamn that is awesome, you save like R1000, but i also cant wait for the N9, but im actually a SE fan but there was nothing that is cool from the SE arsenal so i got the next best thing, if the experia arc was out i would have tried that but im a bit early
the smartphone world is going to get interesting with all these awesome phones coming out
i would have gotten the experia x10 but my friend has got it already(i hate having the same goodies as anyone i know) and its got android, i thought symbian is not hard on internet like the android phone but now i know all smartphones are like that.
one thing is i will never be a moto samsung LG apple fan. and htc os is hard to master, my dad has got a hd2

You would be rather naive to believe that statement. If nokia made an official statement then bank on this being released at the event. I truly hope that they release it then. I want to get one soon. This is going to be the turning point for nokia. Make or break. I believe that they have the right people and strategy to win. The phone is pure linux. Not a kerrnel like android. Android is good though but the n9 is going to be a gamechanger. This is not a nokia statement but purely my thoughts on their strategy. If all that they have done too the maemo platform is replicated into this os, then there is no sting nokia from here on. Delaying the phone any further is bound to have an detrimental effect on company itself. The n8 has already shown positives in the sense that they were to initially retrench 800 workers and now it has been slashed to just 500. Well done to the n8. May it be known to many people for years to come that it was the phone that steadied the nokia ship until it had bought enough time to bring out the heavy artillery...n9!! I wait with much abated breath for the release of this phone and hope that for once you're right. I'm not banking on the media input but rather would watch the market and anticipate the outcome based on my thoughts rather. I Will not publish what the media states but rather my experiences and maybe wishes and the odd question or two. Fingers are crossed for April.

tanx guys for your much needed advice,still enjoying the pleasure of a masterpiece from nokia..another slight problem, i cant download ovi store, it says opening secure .... then it fails to download,i cant acess games or anything any help please

Is it really that hard to Nokia to leave these outdated cpu and ram memory.
I watched many videos from youtube and noticed every big games loading times was three times longer than iPhone 4. For example need for speed took 25 second and iPhone took 9 second, same difference with avatar, asphalt, etc. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?
Also web browser is very laggy worst in mobile business.
N8 had opportunity to be best mobile phone on the planet, but they ruined it with very old cpu and slow memory.
Why i want to buy this compared two or three times faster devices?

A black one brand new with the 24 month gaurentee. I'll save the cash for now. Cant wait for the n9. Its going to be an awesome phone. Will have 2 awesome phones!! One for work, one me for play!lol.

It was not detailed. After the update there was just a large blank space on the map where Trinidad was so I allowed Maps to connect to the internet and the previous map that was present was downloaded automatically.
I believe Martinique and Guadaloupe have detailed maps and that presently Jamaica seems to have the same map format as Trinidad. I do not know if Ovi Maps had a detailed map of Jamaica prior to the update.
Google however does offer reasonably detailed maps of Trinidad and Jamaica. These are only available online however.

deep space bar, 15 Jan 2011it's better then all those half @ssed android updates XD Good to see you here. I also own and love the N8. Why I like Nokia is that everything works and the fantastic warranty/support and great build quality.
I know Android is more flashy and looks better, but it just sucks the battery flat so fast.
BTW, its good fun harrassing the blind SE f@gboys....really they are so pathetic.

can some one tell me how to know the difference between the new batch of n8 and the faulty ones i love the n8 but i will wait till the new firmware comes with better web browser and more faster the phone should be i think i will to c what new phones nokia is going to bring out i am looking at the n9 i wonder if there will have the n8 big brother that would be good like 16 or 20 mega pixels go nokia
