Say caller name might be cool for you but smartphone with window mobile 5 like palm treo 700w has that feature also. Organizer is pretty bad. One thing for sure. This aint business phone. This phone is dedicated to the ages of 20s and 35s people who are willing to play with their phones whenever they are free to do so. Why I said this aint a business phone ? Coz symbian organizer is nothing when it compares to windows mobile phone. I was on verizon and had this treo 700w. Say the name of the caller or the number whenever I got the call. Daily basic or weekly or monthly or yearly organizer is better than symbian's. Window mobile 5 even has a feature that will dial the extension number on its own (you just have to put "," which mean 1 sec between each number before it dials itself--that means if you put 2 "," it'll take 2 seconds before it dials the extension numbers. Cool huh ? ) And yea, sliding mechanism is pretty loose: so easy to get slide even with little force. Typing is not that comfortable. But the screen resolution is jst perfect. I had a SE w900i and I thought that phone has the best resolution until I have this n80. Flawless. Just awesome. So are the features. Phone size is small and not that bulky like othr people said. Wifi ability is one of the reasons why I bought the phone coz you aint gonna find a phone, yet, with this beautiful, small, best resolution and with wifi .. ? Damn. I didn't need a second thought on buying this phone.

unfortunately the umts will not work here in the us because the n80 uses the 2100 and the 3g market here uses the 1900 umts frequencie.

but hey, thats not a problem im still buying it this friday.

      Battery... continued

UMTS (3G) are also available in asian countries by the way and fast growing, and maybe some in US (im not sure).

if you will not use 3G, then just choose GSM for improved battery life.

        BATTERY LIFE

One tip for you to improve battery life is to set the Network to GSM only instead of Dual Mode.
The phone is set to Dual Mode by default which means it will search for both GSM and UMTS. the UMTS signal is usually present in Europe and not yet really outspread in other countries. So if you have your phone in Dual Mode, the phone will keep on searching or will keep on hunting for UMTS signal which most probably it will not find any unless you're in Europe or in an area with UMTS.

selecting GSM only might also disable the ability to get 3G signal. so if you're not really going to use 3G, then just choose GSM instead of Dual Mode. this improved my battery consumption A LOT.

also, make sure bluetooth is not always enabled and your GPRS setting should be set to "when needed" instead of "when available" as it also drains battery fast.

                How to use wifi?
Go to a wifi spot (ur n80 should be able to detect it under the connection manager/available wlan).

Then under d standby mode go to MENU>select Services>press options>go to settings>select access point> set it to "always ask".

Try it! everytym you access the internet ur N80 should always ask you what to use (wlan, gprs,3g etc)

Does anyone know if the N80 comes with inbuilt screen savers/wallpapers? I thought this was standard on even the most basic of mobiles now but I have been unable to find anything except 3 boring blue themes.
Can anyone shed any light on this please.
                      Thanks

The N80 has been an exellent phone for me since the beginning of July. I live in Australia and do agree the battery life could be better. Also strange is the incar adapter ( which is a size converter from the standard nokia charger) does not charge my phone, but will both of my sones N70s. I assume it is a polarity thing. I bought a incar charger desighned for the N80 on a trip and find it works just fine although the smaller fitting in fragile. I have had no trouble with the slide "loosening" but did find it took a few weeks to get used to it. My one proble at the moment is memory capacity and have found that a cheaper mini SD card will not read. I am trying to find a solution to that now

                                To All N80 Users

Hi people. i just want to start a simple survey as i want to gather information about the slider mechanism because im starting to worry on the slider getting loose.

How long have you had your N80 and is the slider still in good condition?

if its already loose, how long have you used the phone before the slider got loose?

                                Thanks!

                                  Hi Ned =)

its usually stated inside the battery bay on the sticker if its made in Finland or China or somewhere. It should be on the IMEI sticker on the box as well.

I got this phone for about one week now.i'm still confused about this phone.
                                    Disadvantages:
                                    1- easy to slide open
                                    2- no Daily alarms!!
3- battery life is poor ( but they said it gets better after a few full charge and discharge)
4-signal reception is very poor. my old samsung A800 was much better.
                                    Advantages:
1- WIFI is a great feature
2- looks nice compared to other phones(specially the black color)
3-It Can Say the name of the caller!!!(cooool)
                                    4- sound is very nice
                                    ....

i'm still thinking should i change this phone or not..but this is my openion so far..

You don't have to open and close the slider to lock the phone, when it's closed press the power button and u'll get the option to lock the keypad.

Thanks Owen and lamar.. That keylock thing was really irritating.. You saved my life.. I hadn't noticed the lock keypad potion.. Only noticed the lock phone. I got the Black N80.. and it's made in Finland.. is there any chance that it could be assembled in China? (like some people say?) and how would I know?
