the thickness is not too bad at all but the slide mechanism is a pain, when put in jeans pocket

I am in uk & bought my n80 in uk & took my n80 to be upgraded to v4 software but problem was my sim free n80 was destined for germany by his tracking system ????? that means as i bought it off net i have to prove via all possibilities that i purchased it in the uk or else everything is void & that includes the warranty ???.My face went white & felt faint & chap said leave it with me for an hour & ill see what the gen is.When i got back he"d done it & got v4 on it & then came the next shock,,my n80 had failed a test ...the signal strength output from the unit was under the specified tolerance permitted by the standards set for the unit & failed the unit there & then & said i cud send it off for repair..I cant say what info he gave me but considering my options & looking for my recipts etc..I wont say yet where i purchased the unit or my post will be not shown but youve still to this day got to be careful of the net & really check sites properly ( even those that look ok or may be very well known )

well i am a supportave of nokia N80 .. but i think the auto focus camera on N73 and more battary time and bluetooth V 2 is the main advantages ..
but i think i will passbye this for an WIFI connection and hi resolution screen .. u know wifi are spreading much well these days . .

Software very slow! It takes forever to view, move and delete phones in the browser!
Hardware wise, Nokia's definitely durable!!!

its amazing !! full internet like pc and more that any pocket pc !!
i dont have any problem with sending sms or mms because the last original software
the problem is with battery because its os is symbian with large screen and 4 band network

Just got mine. Nice phone. Solid feel. In terms of smartphone, its more 'phone' than 'smart'. Coming from Treo, the usability is clunky. Why do I have to cycle through 9 other options when i want to delete a contact? Video is good, but doesnt play many formats by default. Maybe some 3rd party app will pick up the slack???? Pics are great. Music player is decent, but sounds really good with headphones or via the speaker. Data storage mode doesnt work out of the box on Linux (requires a small patch) but does on XP. Visual FM radio is useless in US as far as i can tell. Cant immediately tell how to change the default screen to remove the pixel stealing top bar. WLAN mode works really well. I was able to connect to my home network without any problems.

To be frank, I really dont fancy Nokia phones. But when I got my eyes on the N80...My God, I've been gasping ever since.
By God, this is the best phone ever and I dont see any other beating it. I guarantee it remains in vogue forever. I mean forever..............

i have this phone and i like it. feels weird not being a flip, which ive always had. kinda thick too. but screen quality is great. sadly, background pictures dont have option of filling up screen. i also like all the shortcuts allowed. sure beats going through menu each time. camera quality very good but slow shutter speed if your using the best setting. has faster shutter speed for a little less quality pictures. speakers are great, esp compared to my old motorola razr v3x. very good reception, but then again its quadband. i kinda like the sliding aspect, still wish it was thinner and flip though. i like the mini-sd slot, which is 2 gigs max versus my v3x which is micro-sd, 1 gig max. however, for some reason when i transfer videos over to my phone, picture quality sucks. do i need a special program or something? the same thing on my v3x. maybe i need a special program. all-in-all, i like the n80 and all the extra features, esp camera related. one thing is that sometimes when someone calls, the picture on my screen gets messed up and cant see whos calling. just wish it was thinner though.
i personally like it and would recommend it when price drops a little below $400. sadly i paid $500 for mine. but better than v3x. hopefully within 1-2 months, i will have a krzr. i know its released already but waiting for price to drop a bit. maybe hold out for n83, lol. yes i love cellphones.

is the phone's thickness a REAL big problem? I'm thinking about getting this phone but the only problem is the bulkiness. I'm used to putting my phone in my jean pocket all the time. could somebody tell me anything about the thickness and stuff? email me or just reply here. thank you very very much~!

Pls could you tell me how to identify which firmware version I am currently using is how to find out and if I need to update, I just got my N80 its been 2 weeks now love it and just read ur post on how to increase battery life.

i read on nokia web site that this phone has nokia express music, but i dont have it on mine could somebody help me with why not, are there 2 versions of this phone or can i download this as i have an appliaction to go on but you need the express music thanks.

hi RK2,
my firmware is V3.0617.0.6
as i am in the memory-cards biz, i would imagine that the problem is with the software (not the card)so if your firmware is the older version, try to upgrade it first (as Nokia should do it for you free), if still problem then might consider buying new card

hy sandman,....i m uing 1 GB now......but its not tht good at all do i want to change the card or is this phone problem??i cant use memory more than 400Mb please help me, also tell me wat is ur firmware in ur mobile ...mine is may month firmware.....thanks in advance
