Last March, I purchased a Nokia 6670. Within a period of 18 months, it broke down 6 times. Whenever I pay a visit to the service center, it is always crowded. This actually says a lot about the product. By the way, if you are considering a mobile phone, do visit the relevant service centers first. You should go for the brand whose service centers are usually empty.

Anyway, apart from the long queues, Nokia also does not have a policy to loan a replacement set when your phone is retained for repair. You are EXPECTED to own a second phone. In February when the warranty was about to expire, I insisted on an extension of the warranty period as a result of the frequent breakdown. I was granted 3 month’s extension.

The last repair done to my 6670 was in April (within the extended warranty period) when a whole new motherboard was installed. That means I practically have a new phone. However, it broke down again in less than 2 months. I visited the service centre on 12th July, waited for over 30 minutes only to be told that I may have to pay for the repair. Naturally I refused because the newly installed motherboard was less than 2 months old. The center manager then refused to accept my phone and very reluctantly provided me with the address of the HQ Office.

Thinking that the HQ would be more sympathetic, I visited them the very next day. To my disappointment, the reply I got was something like this: “We are sorry but we have already extended your warranty period before. You will have to pay for the repair this time round……. Just like any other electronic goods, mobile phones do break down too…..” It is interesting to note that none of the other electronic appliances/equipment I have has broken down since I bought them 6 years ago.

My wife bought a Nokia 3320 last year too. Similarly, it has broken down a number of times within the warranty period. In one household where there are 2 Nokia owners, both had encountered difficulties with the product. We have both switched to Sony Ericsson, and guess which brand we WILL NOT be recommending to our friends?

When I invest in a mobile phone, I expect it to work like any good investment. We are not talking about a space shuttle here but just a simple mobile phone. I am really not interested in a long warranty period because each time I have to send my phone in for repair, it is very inconvenient, not to mention the time and cost in the traveling involved. Obviously Nokia does not appreciate that. They seem to be concerned only with selling their poor product and then offering even poorer after sales service subsequently.

Ok so here is my review. First off after reading all reviews here i was really scared to buy this phone. Anyways i called O2 up asking for an upgrade and the phone was with me in 24 Hrs. Onwards:

                                      1. Solid construction and sturdy but there is a slight wiggle with the slider...no big
2.Phone is a little slow to boot up but is responsive and not slow overall once booted....i've experienced slower phones
3.Phone is packed with a gazillion features that most won't use
4.Call quality is very good so are the ringer volumes. Keypad is very functional a little bit on the stiff side but nothing major
5.Battery life is still at full bar and it has been charged for 12 hours with bluetooth usage, MP3 playback and several calls (Running in GSM mode only). Satisfactory for me.
6.Camera could be better but for a phone its not the worst thing out there
                                      7. Phone dimensions are handy for me (i own a Treo so this is small in comparison)
                                      8. Browser is nothing short of amazing and renders pages very well. Email send and receive is smooth as well

Overall a worthy upgrade shame about the Symbian OS (I'm a Palm OS person) but overall i like this phone and prefer it to the Samsung E900 i previously owned and see myself keeping this phone for a while.

At this point i'd recommend the phone but prospective non symbian users should be ready to do some work when it comes to getting your head around the Symbian OS

Well it is a Quad Band phone which supports 3G. In other words yes it should work anywhere in the world with a GSM frequency.
