It hasn't been released by the FCC because Cingular asked them to add the 850 mhz high soeed data frequency. The FCC had to begin again with thi addition.

I as well as others have mentioned this many times. Please take the time to try and find these things out for yourselves b4 asking the forum. It's just covering old news when you don't.

    Thank you.

True I have been visiting this site for a while and no hard evidence as to when this bad boy is coming out. Having had the K750 for the last 12 months i am itching to get my hands on the N80 and get away from the rubbish texting facility on the sony!
I hope this comes out soon.........

            Hello Dan,

How many units will be in black for the Nokia N80? If the start-up on the N80 going to be faster then that's good. I'm selling my N70 and using my Motorola V3x now. I'm glad that I sold the Nokia 8800. I'm not 100% satisfied with this Motorola V3x. It is not a bad phone at all; considered its shell. Looks much better compared to those ordinary Razor V3s out there. Cheap battery cover though, does not close tightly. The sound quality isn't that great compared to the Nokia phones.

The N70, bad: the keypads are horrible at night, the camera cover makes noises when pressing buttons. Also, the phone automatically making calls because I hit the buttons by accidents.

I'm glad that Nokia invented the slider for this particular NSeries. Just something to cover up the buttons.

Who're interested in the Nokia N70. Please let me know :)

              Anyone,

This is probably a stupid question to most who are familiar with the Symbian OS, but how do you click on links on a web page without a touch screen? Is it a cursor or something that is controlled by possibly the center button on the phone? I've been to www.s60.com and can't even seem to find out about something this basic. Sorry, I've been a Palm OS user for years and think in terms of touch screen only. I just don't understand how navigation is effective without touching the screen. I really hope it works just as well w/o the touch screen because this phone seems to be everything I've been waiting on that can still fit in my pocket!

              Thanks all!

Guys check this link out, it's saying it DID NOT gewt FCC approval yet..

                http://www.nokiausa.com/phones/expectedsoon

'it says at the bottom of the N80:
The Nokia N80 Phone has not been authorized as required by the rules of the Federal Communications Commission ("FCC")'

Now i don't know if that's an old site, but regardless it says it ...hope it's an old site, is o want this phone

                  Hi Jason,
Well.. I made a test. Turned on both phones (N70 and N80) at same time, and N80 was ready to use about 15-20 seconds before N70. N80 takes about 45 seconds to start completely. But I don't know if this is applicable to an software-finished N80, as my unit is a prototype and sometimes experiences some crashes. A black N80, very nice looking :o)
Hm.. the SE K800 is a very powerful phone too, but N80 has Symbian OS, I think this is a major diference. I can say the N80 is truly a brilliant phone.
                  Regards!!!!!!!

                    Hey Dan,

Did they fix the start-up? The N70 is a quite slow at start-up (when you turn on the phone).

Cannot wait until the N80 hit the market. How will the N80 compared to the Sony Ericsson K800 ? Which will be better?

                    Best Regards,
                    Jason, California, USA

Thank you for your interest in Nokia products. N80 is scheduled to be launched in Apr.

i would get a SE W810. my friend has has it for a few days and its a really nice phone, a smaller version of the W900 i think anyway. a very good phone.

Ok. I'm tired of waiting. If there was no such thing as a Nokia N80, (which as far as I am concerned, there isn't), what would you buy?

                              Hi Beaver,
the speed seems to be the same than my N70, sometimes a bit more slow. For example, when you are in desktop and press the "menu" key, the phone lasts 2 - 3 seconds to show the icons. In the gallery, the pics thumbnails are slow to show up.. Startup takes aprox. 1 min.
                              Regards!

Whats your impression on the speed of the phone (the realistic useability of it) I hope its faster than the N70, which is too slow for my liking

                                  @MLKIDS

The North American Cingular version got FCC approval in last November. The test device (Nokia N80-3) was a five band (GSM850/900/1800/1900 and WCDMA1900) with Cingular logo on it.

                                  Check the lnik:
                                  http://www.symplification.com/node/363

So there is no issue of incorporating 850 band. Its semms something else.

European version is N80-1, quadband + WCDMA 2100

                                    Hi Jason,
As in N70, the send/end keys lights in same blue color in the dark. My N70´s keypad lights ar more brighter than the N80 too. The N80´s keypad glows in dark blue.
                                    Regards.

                                      Hi SJ,
Battery life is poor, phone is powered with a BL-5B (think is the same battery of N90). It lasts about 1 day and half of normal usage without wifi. With 1 hour of wifi it drains to only 1 bar in 1 day. But keep in mind that the device that is with me is a prototype. I think Nokia can improve this. Regards!

                                        Hi 86,
Photo quality is simply amazing, no other word to define it. The phone has a macro mode which give you very good "close up" pics. Camera has five options: pictures with 3Mpixel, 2Mpix, 1,3, 0,5 and 0,3 mpixel. A pic with 3 mpix demands 1 MB of memory. Regards!
