There are some, actually, a lot of people who don't want too many complications in a phone, a phone that's straightforward, has good camera, outstanding music functions, excellent sound quality, slimmer, lighter, but without an OS. Right now, 5610 is that phone, a powerful alternative to N81. Just like the 6500 slide, a great alternative to the Symbian-powered Eseries.

Sup bro. The N81 can fast forward and rewind in Realplayer, just use the Music buttons or otherwise use CorePlayer.
I suggest you register at http://www.prodigits.co.uk you can get hundreds of Symbian S60 software there, just tell me what your username when you've registered then il PM you.

The N81 is FAR better than the SE W910. N81 has Wi-Fi, 16m colour screen, better sound quality through headphones and loudspeaker, Symbian OS S60 UI, AND supports A LOT more Video and Audio formats. :-)

I haven't been able to see a real blue coloured N81. Do any of you have one and can comment on its appearance in terms of aestethics?

I am using N81 for 2months and since I bought it, I've always had this fear about the slide. I think that the slide was not built properly and that it may loosen anytime. I compared the slide to my N95 and I realised that the N95 is way better than N81. anyway, for the sound it is superb with or without headset but a lot better with a headset cause the base is significantly heard. It looks elegant though because of its balck color. The back cover, nah, I don't like it. Camera, poor result.. I am not satisfied. Overall I am happy but it's not the kind of phone that I will be using for a yr, I am going to replace it asap.

all i can say about build quality, its not the best. Most units creak, its plasticky and glossy. But sliding mechanism is smooth, its not loose. Thats the type of build you'll get from n81. There's a N81 that has a high quality build but that is very rare. About the keys, it's not SMS friendly but you'll get used to it in time. Naviwheel is nice and fun but doesn't give precise response. Sound quality, superb. Second to none! Image quality, average results. I'm not so keen into observing pictures. Speed, response to keypresses is lightning fast. Rarely hangs. Battery life, of all the phones I've used, N81 8GB (which I'm sure also holds true to N81) has the best battery life. Well, actually my P910i has better battery life, but for a Nokia phone, N81 really has a long lasting battery capacity. About the weight, it doesn't bother much.

                            Assmunch,
when earphone is plugged into the 3.5mm lack, volume is adjustable up to 20 steps. But if you-re playing music via loudspeaker, volume is adjustable only to 10 steps.

                              Arifeen,
N81 with microsd slot has an advantage over N81 8GB because you can expand your memory of up to 16/32GB when those capacity cards are released. N81 is meant to be a dedicated music phone and gaming device. N81 is best overall than 5610 or N90, only loses in the imaging department. But if you want a better camera and cool music functions in a phone, 5610 have that advantage.

i'm planning to buy N81, but i have some couple of questions...

                                -build quality?
                                -how's the slider? not loosing?
-how's the key? isn't it hard? menu and green/red and "c" key isn't it hard to press?
-the nave wheel, it looks like hard to use in "square" shape?
                                -sound quality? speakers?
-picture quality? comparable to that of the k750i?
                                -speed? fast or sluggish?
                                -any hang issue?
                                -battery life?
                                -weight?

                                tnx guys!
                                i'm waiting for your response...

I'm from Philippines, I replace my N5700 xpress music to N81.. heres my opinion about the n81:
the style is cool especially the navi wheel.. its like ur using an ipod device in navigating the music..
my disadvantages bout the N81 is:
it has low quality speakers than N5700..
N5700 has higher volume and more clear sound than N81.. you won't even hear the Bass at N81..but its headsets are perfect.. better use headsets on listening at N81..
