If, during installation, you get the message "certificate expired" set the date in the phone for few monthes (8-12) back. Try with different dates untill you install it and then you can change the date to the current one.

jajalove, 08 Dec 2008does anyone know how to format the phone mem0ry...and can a... moreDownload Nokia firmware updater from Nokia website. Install the drivers for your phone on the pc. Connect your phone and pc with usb cable, start the updater program on the pc. It will show if the update is available for your phone and will guide you through all the process. But first format the phone.
To ensure the stability of the system it's recomended to format and the memory card. Don't use a Nokia pc suite back up, couse when you restore the system with it the bugs you have now will be back. Just transfer the pictures, music, video, etc. to the pc. Copy your contacts to sim. You'll need to reinstall you extra applications manualy after the format.
To format the phone turn it off, press the green (call button), 3 and *. Keeping them firmly pressed start the phone. Keep these three buttons pressed for some time even after the phone started. When it restarts by itself you'll have it as fresh as from the box. Mind, that you may not be able to have your trial preinstalled ngage games back and some of the other preinstalled applications.
I'm doing this when necessary by myself. You're doing it on your own risk. If the change of settings doesn't help, I recomend to take the phone to the service center. At least there will be someone to blame if something goes wrong.

jajlove, 07 Dec 2008thanks you...but i managed to close all the apllications a... moreFirst of all, did you check the message center? If it's correct, in the sms settings check the following:
The message type should be text.
                                The preferable connection-GSM/UMTS
Change the answer via the same sms center to "no".
If this doesn't help you have to reset all the settings to factory default in the Settings, General. If this doesn't help, format the phone and memory card and update the firmware. If this doesn't help it means you never tried it. I'm done.

jajalove, 06 Dec 2008hi guys...i have a problem..in my phone...i can call other ... moreAs far as I can see, there are 2 problems. Your ram memory is full, not a message memory. To close some applications, which you obviously left running on the background keep the menu button pressed untill you see the popup list on the top left side of the display. These are running programs. Press C to close them one by one. The only one running should be the standby and the music player which you'll not be able to close anyway. The simplest way to close applications is to restart your phone.
The second problem is your sms center number. That's the only problem i know why the messages are not sent, except if you are out of the network reception. Go to messages, options, settings, sms message and put the correct number of the sms center in use. When you send a message, it doesn't go directly to the person you want but to the number of the sms center (it's the operator server). From there it's sent to the destination when the person you want to communicate with is available (let's say his phone was off, so he will receive the sms when he turns it on). That's why it's possible to put any number (even not exsisting one) when you send sms, but it will be sent anyway and stay in the operator's server for the period you specify in your settings and then when not deliver it will be erased from the server.
If you don't know the sms center number, ask your provider. Or take the sim card out, restart the phone, turn it off again, put the sim back. Your sms center number should be restored from the sim card. It usually stays in the sim all the time and which you can't change.
And don't ever mess with the settings if you don't know what they mean.
