If you want the best sound quality in a phone right now then get N81, i got mine a week ago. The buttons take some getting used to but after a day or 2 you will be fine.
Since this is a Symbian s60 it offers a lot more apps than a W960,its also a lot more Music Orientated and friendly than W960. N81 has the better sound quality.
Heres the Smape review at the end it compares N81 to SE W960 and Samsung i450 and the N81 wins as the Music phone
http://www.smape.com/en/reviews/nokia/Nokia_N81.html
Theres quite a bit more reviewers and testers that feel that N81 is the true Music and Gaming phone.
After all it is:

From the first time I saw this phone I knew I wanted it. I just recently got a gold Sony W880i. But I'm due for an upgrade soon. The only problem is this phone's buttons which look hard to use and cramed. Also the reports of the platform not being solid are worrying. My other options are the Sony T650 or the Sony W960. Both of which are not in South Africa yet.

From the first moment I saw this phone I wanted it. I just got a gold W880i and I'm upgrading soon. The N81 is definatelly a possibility as I love the looks. I'm not however so sure on functionality in terms of those very unusable looking buttons. Not to mention the millions of buttonr that Nokia has chosen to cram onto the front. I'm also very worried about the rattling and squeaks that are being reported. My other options are the Sony T650, Sony W960. Both of which are not in South Africa yet...

@ miryan
The sound quality of N81 is on PAR with N91, since both of them use the same DSP and DAC33 chips. The 5700 uses the same chip found on 6290, so sound isn't as great.
The sonic experience with N91 is GREATER because the unit does not conform with the new EU volume standards, thus N91 have LOUDER sound when listening thru headphones BUT N81 is louder than N91 when it comes to loudspeakers, since it has STEREO SPEAKERS. Great for parties and stuff!
Anyway, I tested BOTH units myself with about the same volume (N91 8GB ~70%+ vol, N81 8GB ~40%+ vol) and both are on par when it comes with sound quality.
Even though N81 loses on loudness, overall functionality on N81 is a LOT better than on N91. Not really surprising, since Nokia markets this unit as the most affordable "all-in-one" multimedia device. Price is also good. You get everything in a reasonable price.
My only complaint is the hefty weight.
Nokia could cut down the size of the unit, since it no longer uses the old and sluggish hard-drive based storage medium.

Can't believ i didn't think of that. Just getting tired of reading comments and reviews saying it has bad build when some of us have great ones, i can't imagine it creeking.
@ mohead
It has Symbian S60v3 fp-1 (the latest Symbian feature pack) which means you are able to increase functionality by adding certain apps for what you want. Maps is there for if you have a External Bluetooth GPS reciever.
