However, this site will help you most to update the firmware via NSU. http://www.nokia-asia.com/get-support-and-software/download-software/device-software-update/faq

Manu, 26 Aug 2009Thanx dupas......One more thing .... Have u guys experience... moreN82 negative points (after being compared to N86, N97 and 5800):
                1. Ridiculously small screen. (2.4 inch as compared to 2.6, 3.5 and 3.2 on the other three devices)

                2. Dim screen (the brightness and contrast are not as good as the three mentioned indoors but is very visible under direct sunlight)

                3. Keypad needs getting used to (Trust me, for the first few days, you will be frustrated using the keypad. But after 1 week or so, you will eventually find it a leisure to type on it)

                4. Daylight photos tend to be a bit washed out. (the colours of the photos are not as good as the N86, N95 and N97 but the night shots are speechless)

                5. Mediocre quality plastic. (It is inevitable to hear creaks coming from your N82)

                6. Position of the multimedia button. (Sometimes you may accidentally hit it instead of the 'back' or 'cancel' key)

                7. Sliding mechanism (Dust easily accumulates inside the camera, they say that it is because of the controversial sliding mechanism)

I think those are the only negative points of the N82. Beyond that, it is the BEST N-series phone ever released.

Sadly, there are no more firmware updates for this phone. (According to Daniel Danning from Nokia Conversation)

fab, 26 Aug 2009Actually, N79 is not a bad phone afterall. It's a good good... moreTrue, Nokia refuse to implement xenon into their other phones because of the size. The cartridge itself is 4mm thick.

Nokia also has this false belief that 3D graphic accelerator does not play an important role in the overall phone performance. Rigid eh?

I doubt that Nokia will ever release another Xenon equipped phone because they know that if they release another Xenon equipped phone, then the rest of their phones will not sell anymore. This happened when N79 and N85 were released in my country. Even now, everybody goes for the N82 rather than the N79 and N85.

Anonymous, 01 Jan 19701. I do not know about 16GB but I am currently using an 8GB microSDHC card.

                    2. The stereo speakers are loud enough but the audio quality is no match for the N95 8GB, N85 and 5800 XpressMusic.

                    3. Overall, the N82 is far better than the N85 if you can live with the 2.4 inch screen. It is also lighter than the N85 with better CPU plus a dedicated graphic card.

                    Hope this helps.

The N82's audio quality is loud but average quality while the 5800's audio quality is loud and high quality. I have used both phones before.

I am currently using the black N82 because of its camera. My second phone will be either the 5800 or the N97 mini.

There are some online websites saying that the build quality of the silver one is more sturdy than the black. Honestly speaking, the black looks better. I have changed my silver to a black one and it looks gorgeous.

My black N82 does suffer from some creaks but then that is only at the microphone part.

Actually, N79 is not a bad phone afterall. It's a good good phone. But since it was released during the times when N85, N96 were released also and when N95 8GB and N82 have already been released long time ago, it's not a great device either. N79 is only considered a midrange phone today while N82 is considered a high-end phone two years ago. N79 is better since it has an updated software, longer battery life and some more little extras like fm transmitter, naviwheel. But N82 is a workhorse - 90mb of free ram (together with n95 8gb,it has the largest amount of available ram on any symbian phones), 130mb of internal memory, 3D accelerator and xenon flash which make it standout among the rest. I don't think we shall see a Nokia Symbian phone with a Xenon flash and 3D accelerator again anytime soon.

I've tested my N82 with a lot of benchmarking tools and I've also installed a demo app (which I've already forgot the name of the app since I've downloaded it sometime ago). And you can really see the advantage you get with the 3D accelerator. N82 achieved some 60+, 500+, 2000+ scores on benchmark tests whereas my other Symbian phone only get a fraction of those scores. And also, graphics looks stunning on N82, whereas it looks stuttering and with delays on my other phone. And also try to play Global Race on your N82. You'll see than N82 can really decode graphics with high frame rates.
